Third brake light install - 986 Boxster S 2003

Help!!!

I am thinking about replacing my existing third brake light with a clear or smoked LED unit from eBay. My car is Seal Grey with clear lenses all round, and I think it will look great with the rear brake light mod. Has anyone tried this, and is it easy to do? I have searched a few forums and Google, but I can't seem to find any step-by-step instructions.

I'm looking at one of these. Anything I should look out for when buying?

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks in advance,

Well the price is $20 higher than the dealer! If I heard my parts guy he said $75 for a new one, $125 for the earlier models. If you already purchased one, did you get it installed?

So if it is a Porsche OEM part what is the part number ?

This aftermarket clear/smoked LED brake light has been out for a few years. The only issue I have heard is that sometimes you need to reverse the positive and negative wires if the LEDs don't work.

Do I assume correctly that the clear one fitted to the 987 is a different size/mount?

The Porsche part is red - not clear or smoked.

Sorry I did not ask for clarification on the OEM part number. I assumed it was the clear LED unit...I was asking for my wife...as my Cayenne rolled up from the service bay and I had to get going. :drive:
