  1. There was no "official" explaination that I could find. Using 8" front wheels will still give a slightly wider tire contact patch (over a 7.5" wheels) with the same size tires.
  2. Sorry, but none of the current Continental Imports CD changers are CDC-4 compatible.

  5. 1 and 4 are closest to the rear bumper. Cylinder number 4 (5 and 6) would be on the passenger side.
  6. Cailper bolts should be new and should be torqued to 63 ftlb. Rotor holddown screws 7 ftlb.
  7. I agree to get a second opinion if you can. A highly unusual failure on newer Porsches. Was that the same side of the engine they previously did work on?
  8. The MY01 and older Carrera's had 265/35 tires as standard on the 18 x 10 wheels. The 285/30 were not introduced as standard until MY02 - when they also increased the front wheel size to 8" (from 7.5").
  9. Hehehe... six year old battery - consider yourself very lucky. Most barely last 5 years. You need a new battery - before it strands you somewhere.
  10. And your battery is how old? Have the battery tested - both a specific gravity test and load test. If it fails then you need a new battery. If it passes I would start looking at the ignition switch.
  11. At this time you can only get them from dealers. Try the link at the top of the page "Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost".
  12. X74 comes pre-assembled so basically you are changing out the shocks/spring assemblies and the swaybars.
  13. You will need a filter, gasket and new sealing rings. Like most automatic transmissions you have to remove the ATF pan to remove the filter (about 27 bolts I think). When installing the new filter you need to thinly coat gasket on the suction collar of the new ATF filter with Vaseline and then install filter.In a Tip there are also four magnets that need to be removed, cleaned, and then correctly positioned on the seams of the (cleaned) ATF pan for reassembly.
  14. You will need an ATF pump and the proper fittings as the Tiptronic is filled using a pump. The manual also says to use the PST2 be used to monitor the temperature so that the filling is accurate. The Tip is "charged" under pressure much like you would an air conditioning system.
  15. Item 26 is the emergency release. You should find it either behind the front bumper or behind the driver side wheel lining. Good Luck!

  17. Nothing special is needed for the Porsche LSD. Perhaps Mobile 1 75/90 is Mobilube PTX since Mobilube PTX is not sold in the US. Mobilube PTX is a synthetic 75W-90 gear oil and is rated GL-4, GL-5 - so that is what to look for.

  20. IMHO I think you would want to go with Porsche shocks since they are tuned for your suspension. Unless the other shocks are very new you will likely want to replace them in pairs (both front or both rear). Or, if you want you could take this opportunity to put the M030 (US or RoW) on the car since it will need to re-aligned anyway. You would need a couple special tools to do this yourself. A coilspring compressor and lower ball joint removal tool (for the front). All four is about a 5 hour job with the right tools. Plus another 1-2 hours for alignment.
  21. That's my point - the parts list has at least 3 pages of cab top mechanism parts.
