No TSB but there is an excellent DIY (by Tom Morris) here

N Rating is a tire approval mark provided by Porsche when they have tested the tires to meet their specifications for handling, traction, and wear. Tire makers "N ratings" are only for the specific tire and model. When a tire maker changes a tire they must get it re-certified with Porsche - so an N2 (N3, N4, etc.) are certifications of newer tire by the same maker.
For a MY99 Carrera
Approved Summer Tires are:
Front: 205/50 ZR 17
Rear: 255/40 ZR 17
Bridgestone Potenza S-02A N4 Directional
Continental SportContact 2 N2 Specific side only
Michelin Pilot Sport N2 Directional
Pirelli PZero Rosso N3 Specific side only
Approved Winter Tires are:
Front: 205/50 R 17 89 V M+S
Rear: 255/40 R 17 98 V XL M+S
Pirelli Winter W240 Snowsport N1

Have a look here

Looks like the two seals are about $50 each.

On all US cars it is on the passenger side (unless someone moved it). It should not be black it should be a braided steel cable with a small loop on the end.

You don't say what year car you have but there is a TSB for for both front and rear windscreen seals on early cars. In some cases the rear seal was missing a foam rubber cord. In both cases the fix is to remove the windows and replace damaged and/or missing seals.

Installing PCM2 requires wiring and adding an antenna to the spoiler. Have a look at TSB 4/04 9110 Porsche Communication Management 2 (PCM2) Installation Instructions (dated 3-26-2004).

You've got mail...I guess you mean like this?
I'll send you details via email. Be very careful not to break the plastic hinge pins on the mirror cover.
Hi Loren,
I just found this thread since I just bought me a 99 carrera 4 last week :D :)
and have the same problem. I'd appreciate if you could also send me details via email.
Thanks,
Thorsten
Good Luck!

Usually you need to pinch a tab (or two) or slide a latch to remove the connector.

This should not be a problem. A third radiator adds only a couple extra liters of coolant and there is no fan so it only cools when the car is moving. It does add more surface cooling area - but remember these cars are water cooled and there is a thermostat that should not open until the engine needs cooling. At that point all the radiators and extra coolant kick in. Boxster S, and 996 X51 and GT3 all get the third radiator as standard. There is a concern though.I have read that the Boxster engine, like all alloy engines, expands under heat. It is meant to reach a certain operating temperature at which point all components of the engine is "expanded" correctly so that all "holes and pokes" in the engine are at an optimal operating parameter. Adding a 3rd radiator may cool the engine too much to cause it to not reach this optimum temperature.
I don't know if this is true. It's just something I have been thinking about.

There are 3 TSBs on this problem on early 996's. Fixes include a new clutch spring assembly, a modification to the clutch pedal arm, and lubrication. A dealer/shop with copies of the TSBs should be able to tell which fixes have been performed and which ones still need to be done.My '99 996 has a clutch pedal squeak too. It drives me crazy! I've taken it to two independent mechanics and neither could do anything for me. Maybe third times the charm? -
For a MY02 (or 03):
996 100 970 15 Replacement engine X50, M480, M152 (it was $42,057.14 in Nov 2003)

What year and transmission? (MY02,03, 04 and 6spd or Tip)

Might want to stay away from Road Atlanta - we don't need anymore flying Porsches...

There is a chance that something has happened to the cable or shift linkage. Both should be inspected for proper operation. If the cables and linkage are in order then it is not likely good.

Hmm... may be tough on a 996 depending on where you want to measure it at. If you look at the GT3 and GT3 Cup cars they take it off the oil return at the oil/water heat exchanger - but that is a different engine and heat exchanger than a normal 996. On a 996 that is where the water temp is taken. Likely the most accurate place to measure. Perhaps one of the racing shops has done this?

You mean like thisHello,I would like to do this - How about a 'How to replace the trunk release levers guide'?
Good tip on the protective film!

Congrats and welcome to the board! :welcome:
You will want to take care of your backfires/popping ASAP. A forceful backfire is known to blow the (plastic) air box (I speak from experience).
Once again welcome!
