  1. I find it interesting that a company that makes a product designed to essentially minimize the need for windshield wipers, is now marketing... windshield wipers! :D That irony aside, I'd be curious for some user reviews as well.
  2. In theory I would think more grip would mean less energy wasted getting up to speed, so technically you might see better mileage with newer tires, but the difference would probably be minute and difficult to measure. Where are you going with this little exercise?
  3. I'm no scientist, but m money would be on the new tires. Fewer heat cycles, to me means the compound on the new tires would have more grip. Worn out tire means many of heat cycles and a hardened compound.
  4. Bugatti, Sent you a PM. That pics only show the parking lights on (first position on the switch).
  5. the PS2's are very quiet when new, however, they wear quickly, are spendy and once you hit the wear bars they get progressively noisier. Plus they are a great tire IMO, I don't care how quiet they are, it's all about grip for me.
  6. Ha-ha, thank you very much Loren unfortunately those did not work and I used up all my attempts repeating one of them just to make sure, so now I am in "Wait" mode. I'll attempt the +/- 2 variation when I can. I really think it is a sign I need to just step up and put a new HU and speakers in there, the CD transport mechanism stopped working properly nearly a year ago. :D Cheers.
  7. Such a prolific thread! I was going to try a few of the codes already posted but there are so many and I see no real pattern to how the codes are assigned. I wish to add my request for a a radio code: Type: 4462 SER: X5023871 Curious is the "48/98" numbers a build date?
  8. I bought the lights you have listed last (option racing via ebay). Quite happy with them. The reason for replacing: The Install: Parking Light on:
  9. That is what is in mine now, and I found out this morning it is too weak to start the car. So off to costco this morning... I'll be sure to bring the camera :D
  10. Congrats!! Great looking ride. Get a proper alignment and drive it!
  11. I need to redo this, I did not put enough on the first time around and I'm spontanioulsy honking again :P
  12. I've been using one for autocross for a couple years now. At first I didn't like it and I put it away for a while but then decided to give it another try. It is a very simple and effective device for what it does, I use it for autox all the time now.
  13. ah! sorry Jef. Pictures always clear things up, I never noticed that other vent.
  14. I think the "vent" your referring to is actually just a drain hole for any gas that may happen to spill over during fueling...
  15. If it is a similar set-up to the 986, I would consider the aforementioned resistor. I only just learned this. I didn't know the a/c fan had two speeds, my mechanic informed me that the low speed was not working because of a blown series resister, which he replaced. He said it is behind the front bumper somewhere, it was about 5 inches long and about .75" in diameter with two wires coming out of one end.
  16. and it never fails, when I'm driving the miata I see all kinds of p-cars, and when in the boxster I see more miatas than usual. I wave at both when appropriate. B)
  17. Looks like it is here now: http://carboncow.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=97
  18. The ES100 has been the same for the last several years with out any update, “old technology” if you will. And their grip level marginal compared to many other tires out there. I have the PS2 on the boxster now, yes they are expensive and I expect they will last less than 10k (at least on the rear) but they have earned my full confidence even in the rain and I live here in Orlando too. Sounds like you have done your research well and while I have no personal experience with the three tire choices you are considering, I have read many positive comments about all three as viable options. Let us know what you decided to go with and give us a review after a few hundred miles on them.
  19. It is messed up for mee too with that weird splash screen...
  20. Chuck, That really stinks, I do not know much about the 996, but I did find this thread where ToolPants indicates the location of the emergency cable on the passenger side: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...l=latch+release Hope you get it open soon!
  21. Very cool, I'm jealous. $1300 installed? That sounds like a heck of a deal!
  22. Call you closest dealer and see if they will help. Mine was nice enough to help me when I needed the code.
  23. I have read that Coolant Tank fractures are common in the Boxster...
  24. It just takes time and an understanding of how they come apart prior to heating them up so you know what your doing while the adhesive is soft. I take the low and slow approach. I set the oven at 225-250 F, place the lamp assembly on a towel on a cookie sheet. After ten about ten minuets, start checking the pliability of the adhesive. There really is not a lot of open time to work with so you have to work efficiently when the glue is soft. A well fitting pair of heavy leather/suede gloves helps too, oven mitts don't offer a whole lot of dexterity :P
