  1. You can buy the durametric. http://www.durametric.com/default.aspx This will tell you the code but I think you still will need to go to the dealer to reset it. Paul
  2. Good job. I would also would have checked around local race shops. I know for a fact that TRG Racing has a bunch of stock 997 cats sitting on a pallet on a rack. Paul
  3. If the surface of the flywheel is scratched or pitted then it would need to be replaced. Also, look at the teeth of the flywheel. If the teeth have been beat up by the starter then replace. Do not forget to replace the throw out bearing when you have the clutch all apart. Paul
  4. I take the seat out and put a racing seat in for the track. I have had the dealer reset the light but now I just live with the light. It seems like every time I have the lite reset, a month latter I am back at the track. I have been told that the air bags will still work if the electrical connection is firm. The electrical connection takes a little bit of work to take apart and put back together. Paul
  5. The latch fixed my problem so it must be a wire problem. Paul
  6. I think the oddometer has been tampered with. Some cars, you can pull the speedometer out of the transmission and put a cork or plug in the hole. The car would drive fine but you would not know how fast you were going unless you had a gps. I would not trust the mileage on your car. Paul
  7. I would just call Sunset Imports. I think the Porsche parts guy is Steve. Have your Vin number in case he needs it. 1-800-346-0182 What really cracked me up is the part is made in Checkolavakia. Should be something around $75. Paul
  8. I found out that it was the door latch and not the micro-switch that needs to be replaced. The door latch will wear out from use.   9. My brother figured he would get more use out of the car if he returned it to stock. Paul
  10. You probably will not break it but there are the ones that do. It is real hard when your strapped into a car and your heart is beating about 140 beats per secound and stuff happens. That is where instinict kicks in and you let off the gas instead of hitting the brakes. I do recommend track time to get car control awareness. Also driving in a parking lot in heavy rain in 1st gear only. Paul
  11. Just remeember that you will not go fast over night. Alot of fast guys have been driving fast for a long time. They work there way up to fast speeds. It is better to drive where you feel in control. Do not push yourself to fast because you will break your car. Paul
  12. Is there any maintenace schedule for replacing the carbon Canister filter? It is part 8 in the picture. The reason I am asking is because of there not being a fuel filter. Paul

  15. It is extremely difficult to split the case and by doing so, you will be in big money. You will need a boor-scope to make sure a circle clip is installed right for re-building. Much cheaper to have a shop that works on Porsche racing motors to tweak your motor. Paul

  18. This is a first for me. I have comments in every 997-1 forum. I usually get stopped by someone wanting to add an i-pod to their stereo and I know very little about this. I guess it is kind of unfair because I requested a part number about a week ago but things happen. Paul

  22. Here you go. http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm This should keep you busy for a few hours. I was told that it would take about three hours to drop the motor and the transmission. Either way, you still need to remove the axles and the half shafts. My feeling is that after you remove everything to drop the transmission, it is just a few more bolts to drop them together. Here is a picture of the rear suspension and you can see a lot of the parts that will need to be removed. I have never dropped a Porsche motor. Paul
  23. The door sill plate gets a lot of damage. It is so easy to drag your feet when you are trying to get into the seat fast because of an approaching car. I would try some real good glue. There is a glue they sell in Home Depot's in America that is called Gorilla glue. Good luck with your door sill. Paul
  24. Even on the track, you do one fast lap before you jump on it. I would make sure the oil gage is moving up. Paul
