  1. Yes that's exactly my problem. I can't use the top now, it's too cold but I want to get it ready for May. Unfortunately ToolPants I still have problems, haunted top. It works fine for few weeks then the timing is screwed. When I cloe the top I don't keep pressing the top button until the dash light goes off becuase that's when I hear the noises.
  2. I'm having problems with the top mechanism not performing properly( when I close the top, the top motors don't stop at the right time). Does this device control such a thing?
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...bayphotohosting
  4. What kind of glue did you use (name/brand)? I can imagine they would charge a lot for replacing the part. The part itself costs around $70. I think you have to take the top frame off.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...bayphotohosting How about replacing the last 3 parts, will it fix the problem?
  6. Maybe a lot of you have seen this already but here it is anyway: http://www.bigpenguin.org/Videos/911_estoril.wmv
  7. Does anyone know if this part can be found in stores other than Porsche? It looks generic to me and my dealer wants to charge me $3 a piece.
  8. My fan runs after the turn the key off and take it out. Is it a defect since my car is a 97?
  9. Now my top is so messed up! When I put the top down, the top transmissions won't een stop on the way down! This looks like a problem with the relay or something.
  10. I was browsing on ebay and found this beauty. It looks so nice! Does Porsche have a new color now called " can can red?" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...2484048032&rd=1
  11. thellion, try to get info from the dealer when you get your car fixed. Maybe he can give us a clue. I would go to the dealer but I know that they will rip me off and blame the problem on a major component.
  12. Everything seems to be in order, I've eliminated all the small stuff ( tail light bulbs, etc.). It clicks twice when I press the clutch, the fuse is good. Could it be a programming thing? I think mine stopped working when the anti-theft unit was replaced. Or maybe the cable that is attached to the gas pedal snapped?
  13. THanks for the detailed reply. The only problem is that I don't have some of the components you have in the pictures you took. Maybe because mine is a 97? What about an easier solution, maybe replacing the relay?
  14. Mine clicks twice too but isn't working. Maybe it's time to pay the dealer a visit :/
  15. Do I have to replace the alum ring when I change the oil?
  16. Is there another possible reason why it is not working? The green light comes on. It worked in Jan I remember. Could it be a fuse or something?
  17. jporter, how did you fix the problem? Can you list the steps of what you did?
  18. I tried to get to the actuator the other day, I removed the right front wheel then removed the big black piece (splash gaurd). I could barely see the little actuator which is being blocked by some black tank. I spent about an hour trying to get it to with no success. So I just ended unpluging the actuator and no more noise coming from it anymore when I lock the car. I think you I have to remove the fender to replace that thing. I can't think of any other way.
  19. Thanks for the link that's very useful. When you wash the car water goes through the hole in the picture. This hole is part of the Boxster design. Then the water goes through the drain point. In my case, the water was going theough the other man made hole and directly under the driver's seat. You guys better check your Pan/Water Drip for holes specially on the driver's side, trust me you don't want to go through the same thing I went through.
  20. This is an old picture of my transmission. Few months back I had so much water under the driver's seat which resulted in the burn out of my central locking system unit. After $2k+ of repairs, water still leaked. Porsche never fixed the leak. I checked under the seat few weeks after the repairs and there was fresh water under there. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from at the time. So I started outting towels under there to soak the water. A month ago I found the source of the leak. The arrow in the picture is pointing at this material (what is it called?). It has a hole in it. When ever I wash the car, the water , which is supposed to go through the drain point, goes through that hole and under my seat. I put some of that Blue Omega stuff that seals. But still water leaks but not as much as before. Does anyone know how to replace this material? P.S: the material I'm refering to is called a Pan/Water Drip. Part # 986 561 805 03
  21. Sounds good but I wouldn't risk it. I had a water leak that damaged my central locking system: it cost me over $2k (US) to fix the problem. This kind of hack will need a lot of work, you need a real porsche expert to mess around with the systems. Plus you have to latch the top in order to get a perfect seal otherwise the water will leak anyway.
