  1. You guys are lost for words, or what, don't worry I'm not going to send a lawyer round afterwards
  2. So it is the Tip transmission gaskets, fortunately one can now buy them here http://www.importperformancetrans.co...-set-5414.html however my independent mechanic only wants to change the first larger one as that is a lot less complicated and where all the oil seems to be coming from, I will add the 997 transmission mount any thoughts on not doing both gaskets ?
  3. How easy is it to fit the improved transmission carrier mount part number 99737503303 to a 2001 996 TT Tiptronic please ? especially if I am getting the gasket seals replaced (but without removing the engine)
  4. I have found 2 people who have the gaskets manufactured for $100 and its not an engine out job but about 6 hour labor
  5. Alex 55 where did you get your replacement seals in the end ?
  6. Hmmm now I hear that ZF want to do an exchange gearbox, this sounds totally unnecessary. whats the story with the new transmission carrier mount PN 99737503303 should I put one of these in if the gearbox is coming out ?
  7. Oh dear its gearbox oil from the gasket between the Tip gearbox and engine, strange that it just starts dripping through for no particular reason. Garage says he can source the part from somewhere at ZF for $20 but its lots of labor
  8. lets see when I get it up on a lift, strangely, whilst from the viscosity it seems like Pentosin, it doesn't smell like it
  9. Does a Tip have a front Clutch reservoir ? strange thing is that my Pentosin is low enough to justify its this and it feels like it but doesn't smell like it, its neutral whilst pentosin has a particular pungent smell
  10. Hmmm, I seem to have developed a very light oil leak at the end of the central aerodynamic undertray before the cross stay bar which I guess is rather from the transmission rather than the engine ? (its a Tip). In fact the solution is very watery maybe its coolant ??
  11. It would be great if more 6 speeders would come over here, then we have a real enthusiasts forum, run by an enthusiast
