  1. The sensor is a good indicator if the pads are installed with new rotors at the same time, used rotors with, for example a outer edge of 2mm, will cut of the sensor 2mm earlier and it looks like the pads have only used 3/4 or less of there friction material.
  2. There was a TB in 06 (ROW) concerning shift lever mechanism replacement, the TB was for 997, but 987 suffers with the same issue. I would consult an OPC near you.
  3. The leaking oil comes out via the soft top water drains on a cabrio, which are in front of the rear wheels. Sounds logic.
  4. The rubber bellows, on the car floor, where the column passes is a source of creaking sounds, you can lubricate with silicon spray. Other sources are, the column bearings (replaceable) and the steering rack top bearing (not replaceable - bearing not available separately)
  5. Looks like a door lock failure, usually it ends up with a replacement.
  6. The rear ones are a little harder to remove, cause the lack of room to hold, with a key, the top nut on the uni ball, but perfectly feasible.
  7. Yes, the front ones are piece of cake.
  8. Perhaps there is a leak in the system, a shortage of refrigerant shut the compressor for safety reasons off. Let check the quantity of refrigerant (900gr./950gr.)
  9. At PTEC interpretation, i can add nothing. Hope it helps.
  10. With the doors closed, the windows should go up to the fully up possition after closing the top. It is possible to program the control box with a PIWIS diagnostic tool, closed with ignition on, closed while driving 5 Km/h and always open.
  11. Check if the blue cap part # corresponds with the last up date, if not, replace. The traces on the bleeder (black) cap would also have to disappear.
  12. I would like to remind you that it is not possible to remove a Tiptronic gearbox separately without silly things to do on a 996 with M.B. Tiptronic. On a 996 with a Z.F. Tiptronic on the other hand, there is no problem at all.
  13. Check if the third brake light is still working, on a 997, the left brake light is directly controlled by the brake switch, the third and right brake light are controlled by the rear control box, via the brake switch. If both, the third and the right are out, it could be more than a socket.
  14. As Loren said, the ground strap is located under the carpet, just in front, right side of the seat.
  15. Yes, the crank position sensor and the system relays are the first suspects IMHO, their values are highly dependent on temperature, engine temp. and heat generated by system power consumers as well.
  16. On the top rear of the engine, starter motor area, you find a plastic support with 3 water hoses you have to remove in case of a light alloy water pipes install. The 3 water hoses are side by side in the support ready to connect on 3 water pipes, side by side, behind the engine. The order is not logical (most left on most left, middle on middle, etc.) two of the hoses are connected wrong, they must be crossed. This situation is responsible for the overheat problem you describe. Take a look in to an other Cayenne for the right order. Hope it helps.
  17. A defective "new" coil is possible, if the issue stays away within a week or so, it should be OK.
  18. Vario Cam Plus (valve lift) engines are suffering every now and than with a defective valve lifter (stuck in full lift or minimum lift). This problem indicates a "misfire code" let check that out first.
  19. It can be different things as temp. sensors, servo motors, etc. A diagnostic tool should help to read out any existing fault code.
  20. If you cant find any trace of water in the engine oil (only slight traces of oil in cooling water) after several proper checks and the engine runs perfect without restriction of any kind, and the car is a Tiptronic, do not hesitate to check the ATF and Tiptronic oil exchanger/cooler as well, it's very uncommon but still possible under some circumstances. Once again, it's only a small chance but you can seek for ever before discovering the problem. Therefore it would be a shame to dismantle an engine. Hope it helps.
  21. Cars with "saddlebag" formed fuel tanks and fuel pumps mounted in the middle and on top of the tank, as Turbo and C4/S, needs recalibration by the dealer using a PIWIS diagnostic tool. This type of fuel tanks must always be filled up to the top when empty, a partial fill (10 liter) will cause the problem what you have now.
  22. Disconnect the ground strap in front of the driver seat for approx. 5 minutes and try again, if the system still does not work you will need a PIWIS diagnostic tool. Hope it helps.
  23. You can always try with key #2, or replace the battery inside the remote, to start with.
  24. A cracked diaphragm spring belongs to the possibilities, unfortunately the gearbox must be build out to verify this.
  25. Sounds as a snapped window regulator cable, a replacement will be required.
