  1. Can go as far as rear 17mm, front 15mm. With conservative camber or 1 degree or so. No rub.
  2. Will do and post results here, tx.
  3. Wonder if it is 4. hard to tell.
  4. Green arrows show rubber trim. Which, I am guessing that is number 6. Then, the metallic piece clamps onto the lower part of the trim, seems like. It goes across the bottom of the glass and that's it. Red arrow on pic. pic shows detail of right side of hardtop/car.
  5. That's was my initial thouth Loren, but... the trim in question is part of the frame, rather, and it goes not curve on the corner it just goes to the end of each side of the glass. I just took a pic.
  6. The trim that is on the lower part of the hardtop glass (I think is metallic or hard plastic) is heavily dented because previous owner did rest hardtop vertically on the floor on it. trying to find that piece, but It does not even show on schematic drawings. Thanks.
  7. I wonder if hydraulic fluid low? http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutorials/article/56-cabrio-top-hydraulic-fluid-step-by-step/
  8. Or you can't skip the towels because "you know you are careful", and you'll end up with marks. Ask me how I know.
  9. Duane at visionmotorsports... philipj did recommend it to me and he rebuilt my engine, he's honest reliable and reasonable. lake forest area.
  10. Btw, the dealer telling you does not mean anything. There is a difference between for example a cracked head gasket at around 2.5k, or a cracked cylinder requiring a full rebuild. I have sent you a PM for a good engine, but before you might want to take the car to a reputable indy, and have him look at it.
  11. Hi, are those the sport tips, or regular?

  12. Is your car a C2, 99? Mine is... I did put OEM xenons as an upgrade, but they were plug and play just removing the old lights ... dunno if they self level but if they do, I can check it out if same car than yours. Let me know.
  13. Check for cracked header. It might let fluid get into cylinder(s) and cause hydro-lock. Then you stat the car and the coolant has to come out of the cylinder thus the bang. If bad luck, then a cylinder might break crack. A cracked header will set you back 2k. A cylinder 10k (complete rebuild).
  14. I think is more like Philipj got screwed pretty bad, nothing to do with opinions. How much more clear do you want it. Bty, philipj recommended a place to rebuild my engine and I couldn't be happier. I also looked into the conversion.
  15. I looked at this, but could not find an actuator that would fit on the 1.75" pipe. They are all 2" pipe or large for cutouts, etc. Perhaps cutting pipe where it goes, and soldering short pipe in larger diameter?
  16. Wonder if it would be possible to install a Fister, and a PSE actuator (there are cheap).
  17. If you need to replace/rebuild engine, you might start thinking about shipping it to autofarm which is in the UK as mentioned. I do not know the prices, but 30k for an engine seems excesive and way abov what you would spend elsewhere.
  18. You can redye leather www.leatherique.com yourself. Just don't screw up. Or better, get spares and use them so you can go back to your original if you feel/need to. For interiors inspiration, check www.gemballa.com. Some of the designs might be way over the top but you can see many color/material/design combinations, from 997's to 996's. You can get alcantara materials from www.gulffabrics.com For carbon, aluminum look, and other parts, check the sponsors in this site. Gauge faces, they are available through sponsors, in silver and white. Yellow and red too, but for '02 cars only (as far as I have found).
  19. My rebuild costed me $8k. Talk to Suncoast (sponsor in this forum I believe) I also believe engines went down very recently (they were up to $13k half a year ago). What is the ball park price of a refurbished engine (eg for 996 3.4 L)and that of a new engine from Porsche. Thanks.. You can get a rebuilt as cheap as 6k... but who knows what you are getting into. LA Dismantlers sells them, for example. I went with a rebuild from a reputable indy and paid just a hair more. Looking at the bill, most of the cost is labor, and about 1/3 in parts if I remember correctly.
  20. I had my engine in my 99 tip c2 rebuilt half a year ago. local. great guy. if you want, we could meet and i give you a hand walkign you around.
  21. Until they do open the engine apart, they cannot KNOW what is going on. Checking it out is not too much money. Loose piston head does not make a lot of sense. These cars have issues with either heads, or cylinder sleeves.
