  1. thank you. I am right that PP still dont sell replacement kit? is there any trick to this simple locking solution? then again once i locked it I still need LN puller to get the bearing out
  2. do any of these fit 996 c4s 2003? i am planning to change IMS bearing to LN. do I need these or is LN kit sufficient?
  3. yeh, well, that hose I got and it is 1/2in outer diameter and it is bent and clearly not even close to fit the big pipe. PET picture shows AOS of new design where this little bent pipe (996107175.50) is replaced by plastic (the end of it is where ruber ring "2" goes onto). so my question remains. does anyone know what the parts in there like? is there a pipe already that doesnt get changed with AOS?
  4. I bought AOS from the porsche dealer (so it is VIN matached, correct year etc 996.107.026.51). My car is 2003 C4S and I have correct AOS but the dealer could not find accordeon pipe that connects to the bottom of AOS (number 10 on Pet picture). In fact when oerdered what is marked as number 10 comes as a small beded pipe 1/2 in. AOS also has a red ruber ring (see attached pic) so it is unlikekly that accordeon pipe fits it (in fact it doesnt as we tried with the dealer). I really dont want to take everything apart to find out that i need some other part. Does anybody know what the story is with this new design of AOS and what connects to the big pipe?
  5. how is this possible? i bouth my car with 10k km from Porsche dealer as porsche approved car. car now has 70k km (45k miles). I look at the front pads and there is about 8 mm left in them so half worn from new. the rotors to have groove on the edge which i can feel with a thumb (dont have the measuring tool yet but my guess is that both sides will be close to two mm together). even if I assume that the dealer has changed pads at 10 k km is it possible that the pads can last so long while the disks last so little? Porsche dealer would not put non-OEM pads is my thinking. Car is 2004 c4s. Any thoughts?
  6. Dont want to put you off. please do go forward with this nobel project, but you clearly have no PIWIS (which has pinout and wiring). Without PIWIS you cannot even replace PCM3 in a car that already has PCM3. It is then unlikely even with PIWIS that you mange to pair your vin with PCM3. Remember that PCM3 has all functions installed (Bluetooth, Navi, IPOD connector) but they have to be activated by buying codes from Porsche). After you price all that plus new amp (old amps dont pair with pcm3) you might think it is better to put aftermarket solution or Chinees knock-off
  7. PCM 2.1 you can buy from e-bay. should work but you will still need dealer to configure it with PIWIS so first check with them if they will put it in. if not go to independent (amature) mechanic in your area
  8. i have one from my Cayenne Turbo 2009 (all black plastic no silver trim) as i installed camera on my car and changed the entire trim. only problem is it is in switzerland. so shipping could be expensive as it is long (weight is almost nothing)
  9. check how many satelites it sees. (how to do so is decribed in PCM manual). if less than 3 you just need to get to a different location it will fix itself. if none are visible antenna is gone bad.

  11. bad engineering is one reason for scored walls. the number of cayennes with this problem is large enogh to start a class action except in Europe that doesnt exist and in the US you have 4 year warranty so nobody complains. i realize it is not going to help you
  12. got P1026 on my 2009 Cayenne Turbo. CEL light is on. Since PIWIS tried to take me through the fault finding guide I assume this is the real fault code. Not sure why though. I cleared it and it is ok for now. will see if CEL comes back
  13. battery you can take out as many times as you want. you can also switch polarity for few seconds (do search on furum) and see if it resets it. there is also a reset procedure in the manual but all this didnt work for me. i have gone throgh 3 replacement remotes as they just give up after few years. once you buy new one it has to be paired by the dealer. (dont buy used keyfobs unless they have a paper with a long code attached. they are useless without it but people keep selling these remotes on e-bay)
  14. call NAV-TV and ask them. all the stuff you have listed including BT I have added to pcm 3.0 for $450 with one device. or you can get OEM for 650 and install yourself . there is a TSB here how to do it if you contribute to the forum.
  15. thank you for the advice. not many people around me that know the engine :( (plenty of people that "just get the new one" type). i am i right to think that engine needs to come off even for people that know them?
  16. please disregard, found the answer ------------------- few days back I changed expansion tank thinking it will solve the mistery of disappearing coolant. it didnt. Today I took front bumper off and presure washed the radiators (tons of debry there). Once finsihed I have noticed a small leak from a left larger radiator. SinceI did it at a gas station I had to use chewing gum to stop the leak in order to get home. at home i put a decent amount of silicon bond on the leaking area and so far it seems ok but I realize it is temprorary solution. I have looked up in PET and only saw one radiator while I have two on each side. What is the number for the large left radiator (2003 C4S) and how difficult is it to change? (i dont see any coolant pipes going to it. is it behind the wheel liner?)
  17. spectacular DIY. Any idea if it is the same process on 2003 996c4s? (I did coolant tank replacement follwing some DIY but after hours of trying to get the tank out had to lower the engine that replacement alone took me a day).
  18. thank you. did that and here is the result. I also picked up few additional flakes form the filter. metal ones are very thin flakes (hard to take picture) and non metal ones are thicker
  19. not sure if i need to put a separate topic. I have opened oil pan today on my 996c4s (2003) (50k miles) and found two metal flakes (not sure if they are aluminium but most likely they are Alu as one side is matte and othe is shining mirror). should i be worried? is there any way to find out where they are from?

  21. unless there are some sentimental issues moving car to USA from Europe makes no sense whatsoever ( I imported Cayenne from US to Europe and even after paying all taxes, shipping, insurance, homologation it still came out to 20% cheaper). it will cost you $2-3k in container to CA, "or some such" may cost you $$$ unless you want to DYI ECU (only you know if you can). Front lights may need to be changed as they have E stamp as oppose to "DOT" (even if they are identical lights), rear lights need to be changed as turn lights in the USA are red and in Europe they are yellow. Mirrors have to be changed.
  22. your remote buttons on a newly bought key will not work ever (your dealer is either pretending he doesnt know or he is not a Porsche dealer). so you now have new plastic shell with metal blade and immo pill (unrelated to remote electronics). metal blade on newly bought key has been cut for another car so you can through it away. pill could be used but you also have a pill in the old key which is already mated to your car's immobilizer. so you now can do the following: 1. put old pill and old blade into new plastic case (remote will not work) 2. put old blade into new plastic, take key to dealer and ask him to mate new immo pill to car's immobilizer (remote will not work)
