  1. even if it extends you can still have a loose AV wire . the entire construction is pretty basic. even if you find you cam is gone you should just buy $30 and DIY it into existing casing
  2. if you can hear (or your helper can see) that camera is extended and there is nothing on screen then you should start hunting for loose wire (no need to replace camera)
  3. if you cannot see Tiptronic and cluster and if I assume correctly your piwis is a KTS520 knock-off then you have to have KTS firmware updated. you can also have a bad cable with K line disconnected
  4. hello (i have already tried search function and looked through TSBs) I have 2003 996 C4S with rear Summer wheels 11Jx18 45mm ET. Manual recommends rear 10Jx18 47 ET for winter tires. I have found a set of Porsche rims which are 10Jx18 but 65 mm ET. TSB says nothing about spacers on winter tires. does anyone know for sure if i can use 65ET with 18mm or 17mm spacers to get down to 47-48 ET. is it allowed by Porsche? thanks in advance
  5. if any of them have small scratch/dent that would be the broken one. there tons of them on e-bay for about Euro 40 (go to ebay.de). they are the same sensors as touareg vw and tons of other cars (polo vw, audi etc). it is a dyi job, take bumper off, plug and unplug sensors.
  6. start by doing a search on forum. sorry to appear rude but it has been covered here before
  7. check your coolant level on a regular basis (you should not lose any) and sometimes you can smell small leak
  8. if you have car outside for 10-15 min and see no satellites then your antenna is likely gone. you can try to take it out and replace yourself (gbp80) or take it do a dealer. there is a chance that if you buy antenna yourself it may turn out that there is more serious problem like the PCM itself so you are 80gbp out of pocket antena.pdf
  9. you can do it but only if you have a two-foot long body part under an inch in diameter:) p.s. those plastic hex locks are a pain, 4 of them, very little torque they push in metal locks when turned in the right direction, pcm2 is then pulled out with no effort
  10. dead sat antenna is one possible explanation. clock in 2003 996 is set automatically once nav picks up satellites (there is a TSB about it and how to set it up). if antenna is dead=no satellites=no clock
  11. if my only option is a 200m tow then i would start by disconnecting and reconnecting battery, then reading errors by durametric and clearing them if that doesn't work then a trip to the dealer
  12. i have no idea (for a reason) of where porsche tracking system is installed on cayenne but could that be it?
  13. apart from the turbos (obviously)? i found a cheap GTS engine and thinking of buying it just in case my 2009 Turbo get scored cylinders or something. Does anyone knows if there is a difference between two engines apart from one being atmospheric and second being turbo?
  14. look at your codes for factory options installed or send me your vin (by PM, pls dont post in the forum), or if your dealer is closer ask him to check against your vin what options your car has
  15. sounds like you have driving lights enabled (in some countries there is a requirement to have lights on all the time). previous owner may have asked the dealer to enable this setting. i cannot remember if in 996 there is an option to turn it off yourself
  16. i just looked into my Turbo and there is nothing like this. does it look OEM or could it be DIY job from previous owner?
  17. horn setup is in on board computer, (car settings on the dashboard and then there are options for lights and horn for lock-unlock). as far as fuse assignments it is all in the manual
  18. hm, bad battery can cause a lot of problems and the codes you have a unrelated enough, but for a start all error codes should be cleared and then you should check if they re-appear.
  19. fuse sharing is easy to check through your manual as there are fuse assignments there, might be also an option to go through PCM menu (i cannot remember if you can disable there). more radical aproach is to simply pull off entire rear plastic mooulding (it comes off easily , the one that goes across the rear door) and pull cables off. but all these is waiste of time, looking through Russian cayenne forum (harsh winters and rear cameras) nobody has any problems. ice-deice and off you go. it is pretty durable and water tight
