  1. Thanks for the replies guys. Did a search here and found the link to the manual. Used the procedure with a spare battery and it worked perfectly.
  2. did try a few searches will try again, btw 2002 996 thanks
  3. My hood accidentally was closed while the battery was disconnected. Is there any way to manually trip the release? thanks is advance for any replies.
  4. 2002 c2 138000 miles no oil burning & runs real strong
  5. Not all of these fail!! 113,000 miles on a 2002 c2 dailey driver. No unusual oil consumption and no RMS issues. I have had the car since june of 07 & purchased it with 87,000 miles. At that time , bone stock the engine made 341 HP.
  6. Why would 17 up front & 18 in the rear be bad? On C5 Vettes the stock wheels are 17 up front, 2454517s & in the rear 2754018s. This gives the car a lower front versus rear stance. Is there something incompatible with this on a 996 suspension?
  7. Its good to finally find someone approaching the 200k mark. I still have not found anyone with 95,000 on a 2002 C2, the mark that I have just passed!
  8. It does work. I saw this on my 97 Vette. Rear diff lube with additive. Obviously the tranny fliud helps smooth out the shifting, when added to the synthetic gear oil.
  9. Try fresh gear oil with problend additive. This stuff does work. The oil additive & gear oil additive actually reduces friction. In the case of differential additive, it actually increases RWHP by 2 or 3 HP, due to less friction.
  10. Congrats Miko, I think you made the right choice! I picked up a 2002 C2 back in June, after running Vettes since 89. I originally felt I needed to bump up the 320HP, especially since I was used to the torque of a V8. When you appreciate the balance & chasis dynamics of the Carrera, the car is definitely quick enough in stock fashion, although I will tweek mine as time goes on. I know exactly how you feel cause I cant stop driving mine! Good luck.
  11. I have the K&N kit with stock mufflers on my 2002C2. It sreams above 4k & beyond. Much louder than with the stock air box. this tells me the motor is getting more air, which neccisarily means more HP, but for 250 bucks, the sound alone is worth it. MY 2cents.
  12. Thanks Loren , I figured you would have the answer.
  13. Thanks for the info. You have definitely sold me on the wing. Spot on, I might add.
  14. Does anyone know if the option code is listed anywhere on the vehicle & if so, how do I decipher it? If it isnt, can I get the option code through Porsche by VIN#? I have a 2002 C2.
  15. Looks outstanding. did you have to change the intake duct?
  16. I have read & been told by my tuner about the improved cooling capacity on the 2002, which they indicate is about 15% greater, but as Loren stated, to be more precise I guess it is the bumper design & not the actual radiator design that changed to allow greater airflow. The c2 which is what I have weighs in at just over 2900 pounds, which s about 300 or so pounds lighter than the c4s. This also means more RWHP due to less drivetrain loss. Are the earlier c2s lighter than this? I doubt it. I have also read & been told of the improved RMS issue on the 3.6, mine with 94,000 miles has no issues, but if it is happening even on 997s, than that is troubling. WOW.
  17. I did a considerable amount of research before I concluded a 2002 or later was the best choice on a 996. First off, you get the 3.6 litre 320HP motor, which does not seem to have the rear main seal issue lurking. Also the chasis is stiffer & improved radiator design allows for better cooling than earlier 996s. Just my 2 cents.
  18. sfarris, I have had no problems whatsoever in torrential rain. The kit comes with a dry sock to slip over the filter. If your filter does not have one, you can get it from K&N.
  19. I was basing my satement on two facts. 1. My bone stock 2002 C2, factory rated @320HP produced 341HP at the crank per engine dyno. 2 My tuner, who did the dyno advised that he believed it to be no more than 8% loss. He is a certified Porsche factory trained tech, who recently left to go to the independent tuner. I had a 97 C5 Vette, factory rated at 345HP(LS1) motor, had a 15% loss, verified on a chasis dyno at 292RWHP bone stock. Everything on the C5 vette is heavier and there is simply more mechanical loss to the rear wheels and that number translated to 15%. If we do the math at 6 1/2% loss on the C2, we arrive at 320HP. I have also heard from sources that the Porsche number is a rear wheel rating, although I am less sure of that. It is defintely less than 15% on the C2. I believe 7 to 8 is just about right. Less mechanical motion to get to the wheels!!! I would like to hear further opinion. Loren, anyone?
  20. 15% is way too much, at least on a C2. on a C4S maybe, but on a C2, you have fewer mechanical parts being driven by the motor. On a C2, it is about 7 to 8%.
  21. I say "911 Carrera", after that I have never had to specify "Porsche". On My 2002 cs, the only place it actually says "911" is on the data sheet under the decklid.
  22. I have a 2002 c2, which is rated a 320HP. For some reason, the 2003 is rated at 315HP, with the same 3.6 motor. Could this be the reason?
  23. Hello all. Well after 91000 miles on my 2002 c2 it is now time for a new clutch. I have read that stock is the way to go for street driving. Any other suggestions? Thanks
  24. I put a K&N kit on my car 3000 miles ago with no issues whatsoever. The kit fits perfectly & incorporates the factory air duct. The kit comes with a dry sock to slip over the filter which I just put on due to torrential rain yesterday. I doubt the 23 HP claim as it wouldnt show up on the dyno, but colder air with more volume into the engine will make extra horsepower, no question. The car sounds awesome above 4000 & the throttle response seems better. No loss on the low end & no adverse effects whatsoever in my case. No codes either. Im sold on the kit especially since I dont think $250 spent on any other mod would reap the same benefits.
  25. 2002c2 with 89,000 miles. motor just dynoed 341 hp. No RMS issues & the car burns no oil. I am advised that the 3.6 motor has solved the RMS issue. Also as far as I can tell, original clutch with a lot of meat still left.
