  1. If your trailer does not have brakes then you dont need a controller
  2. Hi Open the rear glass hatch. the torx screws are located underneath the spoiler. Once they are out use a non metalic wedge if needed to pry it off Mike Hi Mudman, Dude how did you get the spoiler off, i.e. i suspect i have a dodgy preinstalled gps antenna that has failed, I just cannot get to the antenna, Help would be much appreciated mate, Regards, R15H
  3. I did this 4 years ago, I know exactly whats involved, see my gallery on rennlist. The Dealer had to program in the hitch, maybe because of my Air Suspension. Also not all Cayenne have all the wiring in place and fishing it through is a PIA
  4. So you removed the rear bumper covers, removed the existing bumper, cut the valance and mounted and wired the hitch assembly in an hour ? You did not have to take it to the dealer to programme ? What model year are you driving ?
  5. haha good for you Now the mechanism is very cheap as it was a manufacturing defect Mudman, I am unable to create a gap large enough to get even the smallest of screwdrivers anywhere near the latch. I removed all screws from around the glove box. I also removed the fuse box cover on the side of the dash in an attempt to access the latch from the side. I have also tried to access it from behind by the footwell. From what I can tell, the latch is actually inside the glove box and there doesn't appear to be any access to the inside of the glove box from the outside. In fact, this glove box seems to be so secure that when I do get this thing fixed, I'm going to move all my valuables from the safe inside my home to the glove box in my Cayenne. Update: Here's the deal... when you remove the trim piece from above the glove box, it not only exposes three screws, it exposes several little holes. If you insert a screwdriver at about a 45 degree angle in the largest hole which is directly over the latch, you can manipulate the top of the latch manually and the glove box opens. (don't share this with any bad guys) This gives access to two more screws that allow complete removal of the glove box. After disassembling the push button / lock piece, I discovered that a large section of the plastic mechanism had broken into bits so that pushing the button no longer pulls the cable that releases the latch. It now looks as though I'll have to replace the entire assembly. But, at least I now know the secret to getting the #$@%!! glove box open.
  6. You will be able to get a small driver in the gap and press one side of the latch in, the other side goes with the side you press in.
  7. That will not do it. You can get the hitch hardware from CURT for about $175, but the electrical parts are going to cost you around $400, plus a dealer visit to program the car, you will save a lot if you DIY but I would look for one with the tow hitch already on. $2K does not go far on these cars.
  8. Comfort Control Module may be bad. Saw this on 04/05 models. You need to connect to PIWIS to get the error code or to reset the module
  9. Air Impact Wrench Hey Loren. I am also doing the rear brakes and rotors, and it is definitely different from the front brakes. First question, the caliper bolts holding on the caliper are a 12 point star design (ie like a torx bit) not like the front which you can take off with a regular socket. Do you know what size that star bolt is? I tested with a T60 torx bolt and it is quite a bit smaller than what is needed. and do you know anyplace to buy the required 12 point bit? here is a photo of the bolt. FWIW... these bits are called triple square. XZN is the technical designation. I bought a set of them from Amazon.com believe it or not. I have not used them yet to do the brakes. Here is a tiny url to the set that I bought. http://tinyurl.com/o7tw4o FYI as I understand the torque settings for the bolts holding the calipers in place is 200 ft lbs. Make sure you have a good set of these bits before you apply that much torque to remove them. As soon as I find out what size I need for those bolts I will be buying the snap-on version of that size thanks to the fact their set is 176 bucks! Thanks. I borrowed one from my neighbor who is a indy Porsche technician. Yeah, the front caliper bolts are 200 ft/lbs. but he said the rears are 120 ft/lbs. I just tried getting either one of the ones on the left side off, and no luck. the bottom one is the only one I have room to really usesome force to get it to move and no such luck. the top one, I can just barely get the bit on the bolt( due to a stabilizer arm or something being in the way), so no luck with even trying with that one. I have all of the parts, so I am going to take them down to their shop and see what they will charge just for the install.
  10. Sorry you cannot, it must be done thru PIWIS, and by an experienced user, don't bring it to my dealer for sure they are useless
  11. You will AT LEAST have to dissassemble to the point you can access it from the top by pulling the trim away. Most of the disas work is done by then, PIA sorry, I can help with instructions if you need them
  12. thats a common ac vent servo problem, the dealer can talk to the system to find out if it needs to be replaced or just reprogrammed
  13. I think they are quoting based on a complete PIWIS load and reload time for the complete system. My dealer has the same issue, they dont know how to use the tester properly and think they have to do that in every case. You should have seen the fiasco when I wanted them to turn of the CDC, they could not figure it out and turned the whole audio system off.
  14. Be happy with the S and do not test drive a TT or you will be ruined The TT comes with most of the good stuff as standard CPO is essential
  15. There is nothing above there wet, you must have a windscreen or the like leak, or blocked drain.
  16. Best read in pigeon Russian I have not heard quite that description before. Could be your pads are giving you some sort of wear warning. The GPS is not associated with that however. I think we need a better explanation, can you tell us in YOUR launguage and see if we can get a better feel
  17. It does sound a lot like that but it could also be that the transmission control unit may be bad. I am on my 4th, last changed when they changed my transmission to an 05 transmission under warranty Some of the early ones were flaky
  18. Nop, the output is on MOST fiber optic network sorry Also try Mobridge, thats an easy DIY install
  19. try this unlock the car, put the key in the lock and turn it 1 click, do not crank it. do not touch anything for more than 90 seconds. then remove the key and exit Now try it, don't think this works after one of the many updates, but you may be lucky Any one knows how to reset the sysytem lmk thanks
