  1. I did ask, they had a lower version called standard care that was much less comprehensive but was only $400 less. I was probably just talking to the wrong guy. I'll try again.
  2. Easycare just quoted me this week 4500 for 3/36000 Total Care. I don't want that. All I want is drivetrain protection that includes seals. Anyone know where i can find that?
  3. That doesn't sound like a factory kit to me. They come with the wiring harness as well as the other things mentioned.
  4. I did the cleaning of the contacts, put the grease on and had one indicator failure last week. Yesterday it happened six times in two miles. What's the danger here? Does this unit actually regulate anything or just send the reading to the gauge in the dash? I've been trying to get a replacement from SunCoast but they can seem to identify a part number. Does Porsche call this part an "oil pressure switch", part number 996 606 203 00?
  5. Agreed. Post for post this is really the most useful forum for owners. It may not have the entertainment value of the others, but when you need solid technical information this is where you should turn. I still think if you are looking at a 996 try to find one that has no history of IMS leaks.
  6. My advice if you want a 996, get one that is heavily documented and has never had an oil leak. It is my belief that a given 996 either leaks or doesn't and if it leaked once it will probably leak again. I am on my 3rd RMS/IMS fix. If $20k is what you can afford to pay, you may not be able to afford to own the car unless you are a DIY kind of person. These aren't Honda's, they do require maintenance other than oil changes and parts will occasionally fail. Both parts and labor are expensive and you go through expensive tires. Figure an average of a couple thousand a year in costs over time.
  7. Phillip, I have an 03 C2. I like the car but not the engine, specifically the RMS and IMS which are regular issues on my car. I'm going to lose the car before I regret it. I've decided to get a 996TT because of the GT1 engine. I like the looks of the C4S better, but I don't have faith in the M96 anymore.
  8. Phillip, why don't you get rid of it and get another one? That's what I'm going to do.
  9. I gave up and installed the supplied switch in the middle of the bat wing. It looks fine and that is the cheapest piece of trim to replace if I decide to take the switch out. I have the Laser Interceptor.
  10. Thanks, I didn't know that. Mine is the type that the handle turns clockwise to lock it. Not trustworthy at all IMO.
  11. I've seen people get under a car with a jack holding it up, but I will never do it. I'd rather break my car that break myself.
  12. Hopefully that will do it. I had the whole thing replaced. Bravo on the mileage!!
  13. This doesn't happen to me very often. And like someone else said, it has never once happened with a Corvette. Corvette owners have a bad rap, but in my eye it's undeserved.
  14. Why would someone sell a kit that no one wants to install? Hmmm....... Maybe someone who lives near TPC in MD?
  15. You might want to look into this: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/1222282619.html
  16. Did VF say why they wouldn't divulge this state secret? I assume this is the one you bought?
  17. Not to start a war here, but for the summer months I am using 15W-50. It's been in for 500 miles or so, and everything seems fine.
  18. Some people will scream at you for doing this. Maybe this is the real reason for all the engine failures :) But if they know of a better way to get the car on jack stands I'm all ears. I don't even use the 2x4.
  19. 2003's are the best. C2 2003's with manual transmission and PSE. Seal gray one's especially. Aks me what I drive :D
  20. I haven't noticed any noises. I am not sure I even have a problem. It seems like on the smooth pulleys I can see the edges of them on either side of the belt. On the one in the picture I can't. I can feel the edge of the belt overhanging just a bit with my finger also. I don't know enough to say if this a problem or not.
  21. I shredded a polyrib a couple weeks ago on my 44K C2. A fellow owner told me premature belt wear is commonly caused by a misaligned pulley, which caused me to check. They all look OK except this one possibly. What do you think, is the belt hanging over a tad?
  22. Do the PPI if the car looks good. X51's aren't available all over the place. Don't worry about the yellow shmegma, it happens.
  23. My list (not all done by me): PSS9's GT3 bumper 19" Champion RG5's Clear side markers Clear 3rd brake light Alum gauge rings Alum look dash strips PSE speed cutoff hack B&M SSK w/aluminum shifter Bumper plugs Laser Interceptor laser jammer Cubby swap for CD holder GT3 brake ducts Painted calipers My top 3: PSS9's, GT3 bumper, PSE cutoff hack
