  1. This is a miss downshift, seen it many times. The pictures prove it The guy driving went from 5 to 2 gear going highway speed In the air cooled cars the clutch would not come apart and bend valves and sometimes destroy the engine
  2. The box Adrian talks about is a Bosch ABS tester. I would connect to the ABS harness plug and it had a dial. You could choose which sensor you wanted to monitor, with a built in analog volt meter. It would allow you to power up the ABS relays Not all of the pins in the diag plug are used
  3. Be careful of what you put on airbags, remember when the airbag goes off anything stuck on it is going to be a projectile I am sure you have to replace the airbag it self to have a different badge
  4. On board diagnostics did not start until ABS 5, which your car does not have Old school on this one. Scope or analog VOM to check wheel speed sensors
  5. When I was at the dealer a Porsche had to pass the CPO and the CPO was optional to the buyer CPO is well worth the money, especially on these water cooled ones
  6. Sorry, my mistake. That is not an A/C it is an oil line Maybe Loren can put a picture of the EPC for the oil hoses You would think if the guy was selling the car he would clean something like this up
  7. You can try adjusting the clutch but you should not put the 901 or the 915 gears boxes into 1st while driving. They have weak syncro teeth and loose their points and causes hard engagement. Best thing to do is come to a full stop then go from 2nd up in to 1st
  8. That looks like the A/C hose is leaking
  9. Here is the procedure 964_IGNITION_LOCK.pdf
  10. I thought it was cranking, another thing to check if it is locked up is slip the alternator belt off with the burnt cable the alternator could be fried, I have seen them lock and stop a running engine I almost replaced an engine because of it
  11. Great you have it cranking, I will send you step 2 on crank / nostart
  12. if you replace the housing you are in to cam timing I would try to timesert the hole first
  13. old school, no safety switch check for power be sent to the small post on the starter also I sent the 88 wiring to you, sent the earlier version earlier
  14. I have not adjusted 968 headlights, looks like they are not adjusted from the front but with these knobs in the back 968_HEADLIGHTS.pdf
  15. 2 different circuits, the only thing they really have in common is the ignition switch get it cranking first, then we can concentrate on any running problems if you have a volt meter check voltages of battery and components
  16. you can not really check the DME until the engine cranks, the speed/reference sensor wakes up the DME to ground the main relay. need to get it cranking before you start throwing expensive parts at it. I have attached the wiring diagram for the starting system get it cranking first what is your email? the diagram, even page by page is too large to upload
  17. Here is a quick guide 911_DRIVEABILITY.pdf
  18. They are not straight down holes In the cowl under the windshield at the bottom there is 2, 1 on each side, scupper style drains that drain the water out in to the engine compartment
  19. I have to disagree with porschetechnik, there is an old bulletin on putting some sealant on the case and you had to remove the cooler to get to it I did all of them with out dropping the motor. there is a cowling on the top of the cooler that lets you get to the top bolts
  20. Baum tools 800-848-6657 have this holder in stock Also the 9282/1 "bolt" for removing the pulley
  21. The easiest mod is a 1 bar spring in the waste gate The funnest one is a boost knob and a large boost gauge in place of the clock A word of warning, boost is like drugs, booze or sex you just have to have it and extended periods of hi boost result in melted pistons
  22. I said it was a PIA and I wasn't kidding The timing has to be perfect
