  1. great brainstorm! I think i might have a go at this. Thanks for sharing.
  2. i have a 19 inch wheels on my 99 C4. I need new ones and also looking to purchase some cost friendly and good quality rears so this thread is in good timing. I currently ride the Victor Lemans 19 inch rims. No issues with fender scraping or such..but mine is not lowered. I need a tire guide..or go to tire school or something. Street only 19 inch, summer/fall driving only - whats the best bang for the buck? Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 301.00 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 299.00 Pirelli PZero Nero 285.00 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 299.00 Continental ExtremeContact DW 248.00 Continental ContiSportContact 3 334.00 Yokohoma ADVAN Neova AD08 288.00 I'd personally like to stay below 300 bucks per tire so the Continental ExtremeContacts for 248 seem reasonable. Advice would be much appreciated. Oh, and these are all 275/30ZR/19 tires from TireRack
  3. I think this is a good deal if the PPI comes out clean. I bought my 99 c4 almost 3 years ago now with the same mileage for 28k. So thats a good price to me!
  4. This is how the window was designed. Not symptoms of a pending failure.
  5. Mine is a daily driver and as these cars normally run hot anyway, it's magnified during hot summer and traffic conditions. This makes using a 5 or 15 50 weight oil a good thing to do to help protect your engine during these conditions. I don't think for my region and summer temps and age/condition of my car it would be good to run 0w-40 mobile water. Others might dispute that. Do a search and you'll find plenty of oil war threads here. Shift through and make up your own mind to what feels right for your situation.
  6. go heavier for summer. 5-50(castrol) or 15-50. Maybe it's a bit early for that weight for you up north though.
  7. My front right side turn signal went out. Found out the socket it'self was all rusted out. Blub shot as well. I had to buy the used socket plug from oklahoma foreign.
  8. Hi Phil. Just saw your post. What happened to your tranny? I've got 130k on my 99 C4 and just wanted some info on what went wrong/warning signs etc. Auto/manual?

  9. i used a basic eddie baer kid seat and tossed it in the back, rear facing(daily driver)...yes seat all the way forward like Viper said. Now i need the forward facing one and this is great info. Thanks for the pics and feedback pierre!
  10. anyone have info on whether or not there are alternatives to the porsche OEM oxygen sensors? 120 bucks a piece for christ Sakes is crazy for such a sensor. Also, if you wanted to switch out sensors for improved fuel economy which ones are more important, Pre- or After cat? Or does it matter in which case all 4 need be replaced to see any benefits?
  11. aren't these puppies supposed to get mid 20's on mileage? Generall speaking for hwy driving.
  12. i know we are to use "porsche" approved coolants, it's just i'm not familiar with the g-11/g-12 OAR nomenclature. OR if the G04 suggests it's a better alternative.
  13. how did your ims bearing look? How many miles on your 1999? I'm considering this service as i'm approaching 130k on my 99.
  14. okay, this thread has re introduced some issues i've been pondering for a bit now. My car runs on the hot side during summer conditions as it's a c4 daily driver in beltway traffic. I've cleared my rads, no really improvement. Fans are working fine...although I will be performing the fan hack that 1999 posting sometime ago and hopes that helps. But the Antifreeze comments here intrigue me. Can you be more specific and detail exactly what coolants we should be using in order to prevent cylinder damage? TIA
  15. interesting. Thank you for the oil report sanjeev. To Wicked996 - i've been using Amsoils products for the past year and have been happy. the 5w 40 oil and their svg gear oil for my differentials.
  16. Sharp looking c4s! Love that seal gray color. Matches your body style well.
  17. i don't know the part numbers. But I got my side skirts from MASHAW and was very happy. It was the older verison side skirts i believe, not the "sharp edge" ones you alluded to.
  18. i don't know. I kinda like it. I don't like the black wheels/carbonfiber hood/primer trend, but this is kinda cool. The matte finish is alien to me, but i sorta dig it. Good find!
  19. ditto...lots of very loud noise from wearing tires. Changed them out and the cabin noise was drastically reduced. Crazy how old tires can do that, even when the tread looks fairly okay.
  20. my hose is in bad shape as well, need to replace all of them soon. Good luck with the repairs. And post the part numbers when you get them.
  21. yes, i concur. Mine lasted a week or so after i noticed the noise before she went blewy on the ride home. You don't want to repeat my mistake. Get it replaced soon.
