  1. Does anybody know exactly what this means (I have an X50, Manual, hence my intrique). I have some Porsche documentation that makes the same comment. The base constructions of the manual and automatic transmissions were also improved Thanks. Alex
  2. Loren, are you saying that the GT2 above is the same as the X50? Here is what I have been seeing in everything I have read: Porsche engineers achieved the increase in power and performance through modifications to the Turbo charger, the change air cooler, the control units and exhaust system in particular. The base constructions of the manual and automatic transmissions were also improved so that the power increase can also be ordered for the 911 Turbo Tiptronic at the recommended price of 12,644 Euro (price in Germany, inclusive of VAT). Its maximum speed has increased from 298 to 300 km/h with a reduction in the acceleration speed by almost a half a second to 4.5 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h.
  3. Can someone tell me what are the exact differences in detail, here is what I know/have heard: Strenthenged Transmission (not sure what that really means) Same Exhaust, Intercoolers, and Turbos as GT2 Modified ECU
  4. are the turbo 997 wheels a direct fit to the 996 turbo, or do you need spacers or anything?
  5. Sunset is the best period. Jeff is great as wel as Phil! I have purchased at least 20 parts over the last 2 years (trim pieces etc.) Yesterday got new climate control that will be painted to match grey leather :) PS I have a spare (like new) Graphite Grey leather (03 TT) center console lid if interested.
  6. Steering wheel only is probably more like 30 min, plus disconnecting battery, putting everything back, readjusting PCM2 etc. Total is more, but thanks. Alex
  7. Thanks Loren, found it. Too much work. Need to remove steering wheel, airbag, etc. I thought it just had screws on the bottom and it would come right out
  8. Hi could someone tell me how to remove the black plastic surround on the steering column? I want to paint it graphite grey but want to know if it's easy to take out and put back. Any special tools? Tips. Thanks Alex
  9. PS it also came with Heated front seats, supple leather, lumbar support on both seats, and memory seats, plus alum shifter, ss entry, and alum leather shifter.
  10. Personally, everyone is going to have a different opinion. When I went looking through for my car I ended up concluding that I wanted a Porsche Nav, therefore an 03 with PCM2 was a must. Then I read about the X50 package and decided that with 444hp and 457lbs of Torque (same as new 997, torque wise) I would always keep it stock and that was sufficient for now and in the future. Will hold it's value better. Ideally a light grey blue would have been my ideal color, I went with Seal grey and graphite grey interior. I paid $117k in CA in 10/03 with 3k miles. I have been very happy with my decision ever since
  11. You do know you have a C4S front lip and not a turbo front lip? Alex
  12. Size matters in regards to the new Shuffle, since it only has a earjack to USB cable to charge and load music. No screen. Can you see video on the PCM2 from your Ipod? PS Denison, no longer does business in the US according to a website.
  13. Has anyone tried to install a 2 generation (really small) 1GB I Pod Shuffle to a PCM2 (2003 TT)? Thanks Alex
  14. I would think it should be covered under your CPO warranty as long as no mods have been performed after purchase
  15. Loren, my vehicle did not fall under that recall. Is that the same as the A309 Recall regarding heated seats (mine has the heated seats).
  16. Does nayone know about this recall for an 03 tt?
  17. with Graphite Grey Interior Leather Climate Control and Trim option. I need the VIN# to order it from Sunset. I have been checking ebay w/o success. I know at one point we pointed one out on ebay that someone on the forum wanted to buy with that option. I have managed to get all the other parts, just need these two. I tried glueing leather to make the parts but did not come out as neat as the factory ones would. Any help would be appreciated. PS my climate control is just below the cd changer and above the heated seat switch (PCM2), so trim piece has curves. Alex
  18. to access the the 12v wires and which ones should I connect to? I would like to connect it directly. 12v + ground via phone line directly to V1. How do I need to make wires to make it work without the V1 fuse and accessory assembly? Thanks Alex Refer to Hardwire V-1 topic, Thanks! Perfect!
  19. Hi Loren, I'm in San Jose, can you recommend someone who could do it? Thanks Alex
  20. face plate (or complete unit for 2003 996 Turbo in graphite grey leather
  21. buttons off of the cluster? Replacing them with Aluminum ones. Thanks Alex
  22. How are the Mintex Pads working. Are they creating dust on the calipers, inside or outside of wheels? Thanks Alex
  23. Sounds great. Do I need new vibration plates or anything else to install them. I took my car in to do the 30k service even though it only has 17k miles, and they said the pads are like new. Did you mill the rotors to avoid squeaks?
