  1. Loren, Can you help identify this part number from a MK1 GT3 or areo front bumper "996 505 983 01"? PET for the GT3 identifies a 983 02 number which I believe is for the MK2. PET for the aeokit does not identify the bumper as a standalone number. I believe the 983 01 must be for the MK1. Can you confirm? Thanks, Peter
  2. Could this be an ICV issue. When first starting my 99C2 cold, the idle will race up to 2500rpm for a second and then to normal. After that, no problem again until the vehicle sits for a long period (next day) and is cold. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
  3. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between those listed on ebay and these sold by Suncoast other than the price??? http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant..._Code=POTE996IN
  4. Well it seems like you are almost to the point where everything is done and road ready. Then it is time for lunch in Dana Point.. Peter
  5. For what you want the Porsche Sport Suspension (M030-includes front and rear springs and shocks, and front and rear sway bars and bushings) or ROW Sport Suspenison might be your best bet (based on cost and improvment). Bilsteins will work too and you may be able to find the PSS9s (that is all you should need) cheeper than the new PSS10 version.
  6. I have the same wheels but have 285 tires on the rear (which is the correct size for the MK1 GT3). Works nice...
  7. Hey Phillipj, Sounds awesome.. Good luck with your new machine....
  8. Keying a P-car or any car should be a capital offense punishable by death...
  9. My friend and I did his and my 996 in his garage. Took about 8 hours to include putting the vehicle on 4 jack stands.....
  10. moosey, I believe that these are the currect part numbers for the X74: Shock ABS 996-343-980-06 Support 996-343-980-08 Coil spring 996-343-980-07-504 Additional nut 996-343-980-09 Shock ABS 996-333-980-06 Coil spring 996-333-980-07-504 Additional nut 996-333-980-09 Shock SPA 911-333-511-00 Front Swaybar 996-343-701-21 Front Swaybar Bushings 996-343-792-12 Rear Swaybar 996-343-701-26 Rear Swaybar Bushings 996-333-792-25 Rear chassis braces ( reinforcement plates) (2, one for each side by tail lights) R/R/ Reinforcement Brace 996-502-814-90-GRV L/R Reinforcement Brace 996-502-813-90-GRV Engine protection plate 996-107-981-00
  11. Loren, You are not that old. I looked at a 2004 996 and it has the same design as my 99. Even the tech manuals for the 996 show before and after the Cat. The 997 shows it in the middle of the Cat. I'm confused..
  12. Are you sure where they came from? Do you have a pic and part number(s)? Loren, Yes they came off a 2003 C4S. The part number is 99611303. Picture attached. Tech sheet for the 997 shows the sensor in the middle of the Cat but these are clearly stamped 996.
  13. Has me a little confused also as the tech sheets for the 996 show the sensors before and after the Cat (same with the ones on my C2). But the Cats I have from the C4S have a senor mounting hole before and then one right in the middle of the Cat. No mounting hole after...
  14. Does anyone know if the Cat converters from a 2003 C4S will fit my 1999 C2. The only noted difference is the placement of the oxygen sensors. On the C2 Cats the sensors are before and after the Cat. On the C4S Cats there is one before and one in the middle of the Cat. I need to replace one Cat and these were free low millage.. Thanks
  15. How come no one talks about Continental Sport Contact 2's, which Porsche uses? Does anyone like or dislike them??
  16. My friend and I just did the clutch on his 04 and my 99. We stuck with stock Porsche parts, which I believe are fine. I had ordered the RMS just in case but mine was dry and did not need to be replaced. His was ok as well... Good luck....
  17. Why are you going to replace the flywheel bolts? Are you removing the flywheel??? There is an upgrade to the release level.. Looking at yours it appears to be the old model. I would upgrade...
  18. Thanks for the pictures and info. Looks great. I thought it might sit lower based on things that I heard regarding the X74 suspension. But it appears fine. Looks a little over an inch lower than my 99 C2 (26.5 front/26.25 rear). I really like it. Are you ok with the ride in regards to firmness? Is it a much harder ride that the stock suspension? Would you recommend it? Thanks. Again, your 996 looks great!! Peter
  19. Yes that is the old release lever. I am not sure on the clutch slave cylinder but Sunset Imports can tell you if there is an upgrade avilable. Also, they may have the clutch alignment tool. if not try http://www.automotion.com/. It only only cost about 10.00 U.S..
  20. Unless the rivets from the clutch disk (were worn through) and scratch up the flywheel or there are groves in the flywheel I would not change it. The scorching looks ok...
