  1. i don't think the oem gt2 wing fits the C4S. you have to get the one from www.mashaw.com, email the guy, he has one for the C4s. I'm getting it soon, i'll post pics once it's installed. Actually, it should fit with a bit of fabricating. Just be sure you have the right front lip tp compensate or you'll have one squirrly ride. At the very least the oem TT lip. Misha makes one that retains your stock lid, only replaces the retractable unit. But the problem with aftermarket wings or mixing and matching oem aero parts is the total lack of any AD testing, maybe not important for street/bling use, but at the track/high speed instability will become a problem. I had the misha gt2 wing with TT lip, switched it out to a oem aerokit. The OEM aerokit is tha way to go imo. I may be selling mine before too much longer if you're interested. CH
  2. I have had this as a chronic problem on mine, they even replaced the radio at one point. I used to have to turn off the car, lock/unlock then it would start up ok and function, pia. With the new radio, it still does it, just turn the radio on/off fixes the problem (temporarily).
  3. Re #5, you gotta flip the bolts upside down so the nuts are on top, will help with future change outs.
  4. In any lease, the bank owns the car, not the business.
  5. Just the synchros grinding a bit, I wouldn't worry about it, just don't make a habit out of doing that!
  6. I lease cars all the time, mainly because I can write the thing off. My practice(pc) makes the payments in pretax dollars, same goes for all the consumables associated with the car (tires, gas, etc). Never put down a dp on a car you are going to lease, you want to minimize your out of pocket/up front costs (that's not deductable). Roll the taxes into the lease pymnt and pay it all with pretax dollars. Remember, negotiate down a price, zero dp, zero sd, and minimize up front costs. Leasing isn't for everybody, if you can't write it off, I wouldn't do it, check with your accountant.
  7. Roger that Paul, I had a 'misha wing', it was ok, but my oem C4S aerokit is sweet, perfect fit, and I mean PERFECT. The mk1 aerokit is the best on a early 996.
  8. When I was a resident, I bought my wife a beater( nissan, first and only japanese car, sorry bad taste in my mouth) to get around in, blew the motor after two weeks, numerous other problems, finally got my money back for the car. Later I did a carfax on it just for kicks, nothing showed up, not even the fact that the car was scrapped after I returned it!
  9. Thanks kiyo I installed them last night. They are super loud I love em I'm planning on keeping them on unless my neighbors start complaining or the cops bust my chops. The only problem that I have is I got a system fault return to workshop. I'm thinking it might have to do with an o2 sensor. I'm just hoping they don't charge me an arm and a leg for some B.S. when I bring it in. I would take them off prior to visiting the workshop, your cats are fried, known to happen with bypass pipes. The cats are 1495 each plus labor, zero under warranty. If they see the pipes, might deny the claim.
  10. I have the same thing happen on cold days, dealer looked at it twice, said it is common......but not normal. Bottom line they don't have a fix for it yet.
  11. Is the chip flash transferable? A friend flashed his car and is selling it now and has offered to transfer it to mine. Is that even possible?
  12. Thanks Loren, just got an oem C4S aerokit, was missing that sticker. Now to adjust the decklid latch to open/close smoothly.
  13. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement mobil 1 decal that goes under the hood?
  14. What's the deal with schnell and fabspeed, seem to be total copies of eachother, yet nobody is jumping up and down? Gotta think Joe at fabspeed has the inside lane on this stuff.
  15. Yes, ...500-38 for the C4S. Braman Porsche also sells it at a good price, I got it from them for 1699 last yr during their sale. Be sure the pn's are right and the shocks/struts are yellow, there are a few RoW C4S kits out there masquerading as the x73, they're black and exactly what you have now.
  16. I love my fabs, not too loud at all, wifes not a problem, she hates the suspension to start with. Phillip, I think I'm gonna make a treck to Joe's place for a set of headers, chip and dyno session.
  17. He's wrong, you can take it apart, uses a small torx, there are no 'springs inside', there is a cable and slot mechanism that easily goes together. Your 'tech' has obviously never taken it apart as I have. Just pick the bones of the used peice you have, it's a 1hr job, max.
  18. Radio, climate, speedo/computer all ok, no open cluster, guess it might be the switch.
  19. Loren, on my '03 C4S, the instr cluster lights have started acting up. When I turn the headlights on there is a several second delay in the cluster lighting to come on. I tried turning the switch back and forth, nothing works, now the delay in coming on is getting longer. What to do, a fuse? TIA
  20. I would take the mechanism apart and lube everything up, it's not that hard, may just need some lubrication. Also, put a post in the FS section, alot of guys have replaced their stock retractable spoilers with fixed ones, and I'm sure somebody will sell it to you cheap.
  21. Loren, any way to tell if the SAS wasn't recalibrated? I had the X 73 upgrade done a few months ago by a good porsche shop (I chickened out of the diy), just wondering.
  22. I agree, get it on your service record whether it's a leak or not.
  23. I think the C4S/TT big reds are a larger diameter, better stopping. If you want to upgrade for the track, just throw on some pagid orange pads on yours, hand of god stopping at the track. Chris
  24. You will need winter wheels and tires, I have zero problems in the snow driving in/out of manhattan daily. My first yr I tried my pzeros, very slippery in the snow, it pays to get snow tires.
  25. Sounds like a problem in the tube-in-tube elevator mechanism (all plastic, no gears), try spraying the mechanism with wd40 as well as the hinge mechanism on the spoiler itself. I've had mine apart several times troubleshooting after instillation and subsequent fixed spoiler removal, very quirky peice of equipment.
