  1. read a posting last week about how a floor mat prevented the clutch pedal switch from working and so the car wouldn't start. could your problem be in the clutch switch? ps: just looked at the recent posts.... hope the problem is the clutch switch as I understand it is a relatively simple fix. good luck....

  3. if nothing at all happens, no engine turning over, no starter motor kicking in, nothing, I would guess the problem is in the ignition switch. I think others here have posted diy info about how to get it out and get a new one in. could be a relay, but I'd guess its the switch. good luck....

  6. turbo. check the twin turbo set up on Boochook's c4s, and see if that would fit your C2. Burk, are you seeing this....?
  7. there are many threads on this topic found via the search engine. my memory is that the light switch is located at the hinge, but I'm not sure that's right. good hunting....
  8. Daniel Antolino of Becker Autosound was kind enough to advise me that there is no aux option with a cable for the CDR-23, but.... an aux input could be hardwired into the CDR-23 radio by Becker for $175.00. Info only....... just what I thought.
  9. Thanks, D, for the good info. Loren's right, we'd need to know some specifics about the radio in question. I've been under the impression that the Becker CDR23 does not have an aux input..... and we've seen many threads with new head unit installs, moving around the heat a/c control locations, etc., to accomodate an ipod. I've been using a plug-in fm transmitter type adapter. will this Becker adapter work in the 23 radio... ? Cheers, j
  10. I've run Bridgestone 050 pole position for years, but I live where it rains alot with little snow. If I lived in Boston I'd put on Bridgestone a/s pole position without hesitation. the 050 summers have a traction aa rating, which is good in wet conditions. a/s tire would have to be good too....
  11. street, and only occasional track use.... I used to run Yokohama 008's and loved them. tried many makers and found that for me, living in a wet winter area without snow, the Bridgestone 050 pole position was my best choice all-season tire. if I was racing, I'd get a second set of wheels only for the track and go with Yokohama's for track use. my thoughts.... check out Tire Rack for good comparisons. and there are hundreds of posts on this topic in the forum. check the search engine too.   12. based on past auto-cross experiences I'd say stick with Michelin, Yokohama, or Bridgestones. No pun intended.....
  13. there's whole section of the forum devoted to this issue.... and numerous posts on this exact point all the time. use the search engine, take a look around. If you like P-cars you will get "lost in 'this' space" all the time. welcome on...
  14. Alternator..... When mine went out it acted about like yours. . I put in a new battery when replacing the alternator just in case. Good luck...
  15. how about posting some pictures and describing the procedure you followed to do the replacement. sounds interesting.....
  16. in the older Porsches there was a problem with the oil sump pump cutting out on corners on hot days after fast track runs... problem was solved when a screen was put on the sump pump intake. I wonder if this relates to an oil pressure issue rather than a gas issue? good luck on this one. kindly keep us posted...

  19. I can't help on this one, my friend, as I run summer tires all year...Bridgestone Pole Position 050's. check the search engine, lots of discussion about tires.

  21. scout around in the search engine, and also over at 6speed, and check out the film clips of Boochuks twin turbo set up. Awesome. and, Burk, if you see this, how's it goin? My daughter is moving to Memphis. Maybe I'll get a chance to get down your way sometime in the future.
  22. no car in the world will run well on ice. but in some, with careful technique you might have a chance at control. There are much better cars for pure winter driving than the C4S. Like probably any SUV with studded tires. But if you really are inclined toward a Porsche 911-type, then I totally agree with Dharn. My SC was totally worthless on ice. A 993 C2 would also likely be worthless on ice. period. my C4S is controllable. I would imagine that a 993 C4 is also controllable. That's 993 C4. I've driven a 993 C4 and it is an awesome car. That said, the 996 C4S is, imho, better for all around general driving. For winter use, a separate set of tires, and the smaller rear wheels are mandatory. I've really grown to appreciate what the C4S can do on any roads in dry weather. I really don't want to find out the upper limits of ice driving, but that's just my own feeling. Good luck on whatever P-car you choose. Some folks do think of the C4S in terms of a C$S, but any Porsche is traditionally somewhat expensive to properly maintain.
