Server Lease Renewal/Software Licenses

  1. Another thought: my very good Inde (now retired) advised against “short shifter.” I had the hot-rod issue of shifting too fast from 2nd up into 3rd, I think from just popping the clutch too quickly. Only from standing start, like drag race. Human error. Never an issue on local twisty mountain roads. But I’d still wonder about the cable connections as mention in the last post. This is a puzzle. Continued good luck.
  2. Totally agree re looks of 996. Even the headlights have grown on me. Loved driving the car every day I had it. Changed only due to my physical issues.

  6. If it’s not making rattling around sounds it’s probably ok until it does. But if you’re in a location that does smog testing consider just waiting to do it until you really have to. just sayin. Good luck
  7. Johnny, I forgot to ask, what car/cars, are you driving/racing/working on? As a former owner, I can tell you that I still keep a replaced, expensive, oil sump pump, and two older sealed timing chain tensioners from my 911sc on my workbench in the garage. Not driving a Porsche right now, but like to keep my fingers in the pie, so to speak. Sold that one at about 325k miles. Sold my C4$ at 16 years old. My issue was getting an old body in and out of the car. Still enjoy Loren, Jeff, and other folks on Renntech. Cheers, j

  13. You might need help from the stealership on this one. Might take a piwis to reprogram everything. Best I can say. Others here will likely jump in. Good luck.
  14. Never asked, is your car a 6-speed or automatic? Might make a little diff re ability to drive. I obsessed over under slightest noise from seat motors, fearing that if seat got stuck I might not be able to push on clutch.
  15. I recall loosening the bolts to be able to lift the seat to get to that screw drive and lube it. Then just crawled in from the rear floor to do as taking out the bolts was such a pita. But if the seat doesn’t go forward and back I think your done. I recall the seat motors under there. But if the seat doesn’t move at all it’s likely a trip to the stealership. Problem is how to drive the car. Could you possibly, just to drive to the shop, fasten a “booster” seat using the seatbelts. Right, like a baby booster seat. Temporary only of course.
  16. Yep, ignorance is bliss. my recollection is you cannot manually adjust the powered seats. I remember the procedure for lubing the forward/back screw-like drive, but don’t recall ever reading about any manual adjustment. good luck.
  17. If it’s a Porsche, it’s not cheap to properly maintain. But regular or early maintaining pays off in the long-run. Carrera4$, as we say.
  18. Great pic. Remember the old 911sc, actually had, I think it was called, “mechanical linkage.” This was back in the day before e-gas. Sucks to get old, my friends.
  19. There you go... “the man” has spoken. Cool, Jeff. Right on the money. I remember that my RedLine was engine oil. Everything was only oem Porsche.
