  1. No need to change the entire wheel assembly, just the airbag unit (still pricey though). Some people have bought replacement aftermarket crests for about $50 that have double sided tape that they just stick over the old one. Bad idea thogh since it is NOT bolted to the bag and then becomes a projectile in the case of an accident when the airbag is discharged.
  2. Ever since I had PSE installed on my 996 I have NEVER turned up the radio. Sometimes I forget there is even a radio in the car :) Sweetest sound ever!!! Especially in a CAB. Enjoy.
  3. Are you are just noticing this after 6 years (if it is a 99)??? Unless you bought the car new, then that airbag was added by the previous owner and makes this a moot point. To get a different color airbag you will need to order a new airbag unit and specify what crest you want (silver, gold, etc). By the way, ease up on the yelling. You asked for help...just calm down a bit.
  4. Ditto that. Used to to keep the mat secure (they should have velco on the other side that lines up with a circle of opposing velco under the mat).
  5. Personally, I have the clear bra and love it. But for your situation, don't worry about what others think on your way to the track. If anything, it's jealousy and they are saying "lucky bastard with the funny blue tape on his lights, proably going to go race his car". Oh to be him :)
  6. I spent most of yesterday between 5-7K RPM for several hours (in 20 minutes sessions) a the track. The car loves that! FYI...mostly 2nd and 3rd gear with the occasional 4th gear when I was in triple digits on the straights. These cars were meant to be driven...so go have fun.
  7. A few of the obvious things first. Have you tried any of the following: 1. A bottle fo fuel injector cleaner. 2. A better tank of gas 3. OBD2 device to see if there are any codes Then the less obvious that may have been overlooked: 1. Fuel filter 2. Air filter 3. Spark Plugs 4. Overall general tune-up
  8. Re #1: http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/obc/ Re #2: Sorry, but I am not sure.
  9. Sorry about that. It was worth a try. Not sure what the remedy would be with the standard shifter. Hopefully somebody else can chime in with theior experiences.
  10. Totally agree Loren. Just can't stand it when people ask for help/advice/clarification and then act like a jerk when they don't lilke the answer that is given. It would have been very easy to respond with something like "you didn't have to replace the entire assembly?" and "do you have the part number for your plug" "that sounds much easier". Or "I prefer to replace the whole assembly with a dummy assembly not just the plug...do you have any advice how to remove it?"
  11. Sure does.....I suspect sooner or later these will turn up on eBay.
  12. "I'll ask elsewhere next time" Then let me be the first to say...... :clapping: You still don't get how rude and unappreciative you are. Tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and even further explain what I did from past experience and ask you for FURTHER clarification (ie, pic) from you to understand why you couldn't do it the SAME way I have have (and countless others). All just to try and help out. You still dont' get it. Best of luck to you.
  13. Thanks for the clarification Loren. Didn't realize the standard shifters didn't have a tightening screw.
  14. Mike, there should be a tightening screw under the shift skirt on the front side. I think it is about a 6MM torx key. It's hard to see if you don't know what to look for. Does yours have one?
  15. It helps if you put where you are from in "your location" section of your personal profile. It also helps to give information as such that you have a manual that is in another language, that you have a grey market car, etc.. Then we can help as such.
  16. What does your hood boadge look like? If it is gold then I suggest 1 or 3 to match. JMHO though.
  17. This is what Porsche says on the site that you get for the $19.9K Raises power output to 368 kW (500 bhp). Includes modified intercoolers, ECU and a brake system and suspension setup adapted to the increased engine performance.
  18. Great pics TP. Looks like it can be done either way. Empty socket housing and plug or just the plug in the existing lighter socket. When I ordered my non-smokers kit I got the rear center console cubby replacment for the ash tray and also the plug with the no smoking symbol that you just place in the socket. If given the choice I would leave the original socket in place and just insert the plug (as I did) so there is still the functionality of a power source for use (radar, compressor, etc.).
  19. Easy there. Obviously your need to keep saying it over and over again as you feel necessary to continue to bolster your ignorance. Asked you a simple question and once again you failed to read my post and answer accordingly when all I was doing is responding to your thread and offering help and insight form past experience. From past experience I posted my thoughts since you asked. But you chose to NOT read and just freak out and be a jerk. All I asked was from you was clarification as to why you needed to pull out the assembly since I have done this exact thing and didn't need to. Had you posted a pic or explained why you needed to then this would have all been avoided. It's people like you on these boards that don't contibute a thing in the way of help to other members and instead come here and ask for help all the time giving nothing back and mooch off this great site Loren has put together without the courtesy of supporting the site either. Do us all a favor and change your attitude and become a polite contributing member or don't come back at all. There is no place for that type of attitude here. **off my soap box now**
  20. As they say.....YMMV. This question is asked so many times but two major factors OE just covered....1)tire pressure and 2)driving style. Normally on street tires you will go through 2-3 sets of rears to every 1 set up front.
  21. You can reaplce the amber corners with clear and trade up to clear lights (about 300-500 on eBay). Never heard of "bleaching". THere was a guy that had clear lights and removed the orange plastic that is INSIDE the turn signal housing but very risky.
  22. as TP said.......RTFM. And should you not have one, I highly suggest buying one since they are in an invaluable resource (especially like this). First thing I did when I got home with my new car was read for a few hours and learn EVERYTHING the car could do and how.
  23. It's a shame what they spent to do that in the first place. Think of all the performance mods that could have been done. My only question is why go through all that trouble to make it look like a CGT and then put those nasty chrome wheels on it? All this reminds me of are the Pontiac Fiero kit cars made to look like Ferarri's
  24. ar38070 is correct. Sorry about that. I had a brain cramp and went the opposite direction.
