  3. Problem solved. I mounted new tires on the front wheels and clunking, grinding noise is gone. I know, it's magic.

Happy New Year to all My 2012 C2S with 15k miles has been great with no issues except when I turn the steering wheel to either the right or left lock there is a clunking, grinding noise that is bothersome when moving. I took the car to the dealer and the service guy said that this is normal. I don't believe him. Suggestions/solutions would be appreciated and more than welcome.

  7. Mijostyn For whatever reason, the 997.2 will not let you check the oil level without the engine being warm and idling.
  8. I own an 997-2 and the engine must be warm and idling to obtain an oil level measurement. Is this different than a 997-1?
  9. After ~30 seconds after startup I get a check coolant message and the guage pegs to max. The message goes away after a short time and gauge shows normal @ 175º. Coolant resevoir is full. I suspect the sender. Is this for the dealer or a simple replacement? Where is the sender located? I am not too mechanically inclined. 09 C2S Thanks for your help, Roberto
  10. I got a call from my local Porsche dealer advising me to bring in my car as they wanted to check the part number on the High Pressure? fuel pump. They checked it and replaced the part. Evidently there were complaints of hard starting on early 2009 cars. The part was updated somewhere during the model year. Hard starting was not an issue for me, although the car seems to start super fast now. Bob

  12. I have the Durametric Professional Cable that allows one to make changes to the coding in the various modules of the DME(Onboard Computer). We have discussed this issue in other forums and as far as I know there is no way to alter the coding in the "alarm" module to make the car "chirp". I think 09 newer 997-2 can be programmed differently with a PIWIS 2 tester.Best check with the dealer that has a PIWIS 2. If you take it to a dealer and he changes the various modules with the Porsche Tester to make it "chirp", please give the forum a "heads up" as to what changes he made and to what modules. I had a 09 Cayman S and now a 2012 Carrera S and can't make the change. Maybe the Durametric Beta 6 SW does not "see this Coding". Mods4Cars http://www.mods4cars.com has a module that will beep twice when locking and once when unlocking plus a number of other things. Fairly easy install or any auto stereo shop can do it. I have it and it works for me, Works on all 997.2 models. Perhaps a bit pricey at $300. Hope this helps.
  13. Hi I'm a Mac guy and Safari 5.0.5 more than occasionally crashes with Renntech's website. Safari has been very stable with other websites I visit. Have any of you experienced this? Any thoughts or solutions.

  15. Season's Greetings I purchased a 2005 basic 997 C2 in August of 2008 with approx 42k miles. This is a CPO car. It has a Tiptronic S Transmission which I hate. It is well equipped with high end Bose and Bi-Xenon headlamps and other goodies. I currently have 55k miles on the car and will be due for a 60k service before August. I would have to buy a third party warranty and probably a set of tires relatively soon. I have never had any issues with the car. No IMS/RMS problems. I like the car but not the color (Seal Grey) or the transmission. So I'm pondering trading up to an 2009 basic or 'S' C2 with PDK and a nav unit. I will have time before August to find a car I want. So my question is should I invest $6k for service/warranty/tires etc or should I go ahead and invest in a 997.2 that I want with a long warranty etc. Basically I would be buying two or three years ahead of time. I'm not sure if this makes sense when I have a perfectly good car that I can live with. I'll be paying a big premium for a marginally better ride. What would you do?
  16. I had the same experience with Chevron pumps. I tried Valero (across the street and cheaper) and haven't had a short fill since. Coincidence? Who knows.
