  1. Look at these valve caps, they are also interesting: http://www.tyrepressuremonitor.biz/index2.htm
  2. Thank you Orient Express ! Congratulations on your beautiful and so well maintained Carrera cab
  3. Orient Express, thanks for your kinf response. You know, I probably made a mistake; well I took off all the coating under the oil pan. Now considering your advice, I'm wondering where I could find a compatible protectant on the market...I'm sometimes so impatient... :D
  4. You're absolutely right Loren, I now understand why his car is so special!
  5. Wow, Orient express your car looks also very impressive underneath!! I see you like things to be very neat. That may be the resason why you and your car won many beauty contests. Also, could you please tell me if it is really safe for the underneath of the car to get along without this extra coating please? I mean, don't you fear rust or aggression from salted air, water...when you drive your Carrera? I live next to the sea shore so, I wonder if it would cause any particular harm. I would really like to get rid of this ugly coating underneath. Thanks.
  6. Yes Loren, it looks like a bit the picture you gently posted. I thought it was some oil leak which cooked while I was driving...The coating is not homogeneously spread, it's a bit irregular but roughly covers all the surface of the oil pan. Thank you again for your precious help Loren, you are so devoted to the members of the forum, I admire your dedication.
  7. Hello, I have a strange yellow color underneath my car, just under the oil pan. It looks like cooked oil. I don't know if it's a normal thing to have on a car or not. My car is new, has no apparent oil leaks; I have never needed to add some oil and I have about 2000 miles on my car. Maybe this picture would be helpful; you see, all the surface on the picture is yellow and the texture is solid, never been liquid. Should I be worried or is it something normal after the break-in procedure? Thank you for your comments.
  8. Thanks for the info! my dent is linear...well if it doesn't work, I should go to the Porsche dealer and see if they have another solution. I must say I don't know what to do as of today.
  9. I discovered a small ding :( at the upper left side, of my right headlight; it's located at less than an inch from the contour headlight. The anomaly is not serious at all but I would like to repair it. I was wondering if any of you could give me an advice on the proper way to remove this small ding ? As the ding is very close [less than 1 inch] to the contour headlight, do you think that it would be feasible to make the reparation by removing the headlight set and work underneath? Or do I have to unmount the complete front wing? Thank you for your suggestions. [my car is a 997 type]
  10. wow! impressing...do you mean the engine could blow-up so quickly, if tweaked to the 400 hp?
  11. Good wishes to chris and gary !!! Chris, is that Arctic silver that you got, or another grey?
  12. You could get a brand new set at Carnewal store: www.carnewal.com Service is fantastic and Gert will do everything to help you. Also consider www.fvd.de
  13. I've read an article in Christophorus about the PCCB brakes: the chief engineer claimed that they had put on test a set of PCCB brakes on a road car for 300,000 kms [~180,000 miles]. If what he says is true, we could expect at least this equal longevity of our cars.
  14. Hi angeltic and welcome to the renntech forums. Congratulations for your recent purchase; I hope you won't worry too much and have fun with your car. There's absolutely no problem with your car: everything is normal with the oil pressure gauge. Also, there is no need to add further oil or change the oil; assuming you've added or filled in the same 0W-40, oil pressure gauge gives you the same correct lecture. Porsche recommended oil for your 997S is "Mobil 1 0W-40 Supersyn" [this is what they put in at the factory]. I don't think that 20 mins at idle is necessary before driving your car. You should wait 20 sec, in order for the oil to make a complete cycle. I suggest you take a look at the figures below, just to check that everything is normal procedure. The thing to retain is that the pressure gauge should always be > 1.5 when idle [with Mobil 0W-40, it stays at 2] ---cold/warm---------rpm--------------oil pressure cold--------------------idle--------------------needle goes up to 5 in the first 1.5 seconds warm------------------idle--------------------drops slowly to 2; should never drop down to 1.5 warm------------------rpm<3000------------<4 warm---------------3200<rpm<4200-----around 5 warm----------------rpm=5000------------3.5 [check this when break-in period is over] [warm means for me, normal driving temperature, i.e the oil temperature needle at the middle] Enjoy the car :)
  15. Thank you Richard!!! I am glad I've learnt something new from Loren and you!
  16. Thank you Loren for your response and attached picture. So this is the PIWIS i.e. the terminal used to monitor everything electronic on the car? Where do the dealer plug it in on 996 models? Is there a plug in the car cockpit, or in the engine compartment, or is it in the front hood? Also, what does PIWIS stands for? is it an abbreviation? Thank you.
  17. Hi, I would like to set the automatic door locking to my 997: as I don't have the sport chrono package, the procedure consists of getting to the dealer in order for him to set the adequate option to my car computer system. I suppose that there would need a tech2 system [very old monitoring system] or equivalent terminal to set the new option. I would be curious to know where is plugged the terminal. Could someone would be kind enough to tell me where it is, before I eventually go to my dealer? Thank you.
  18. Do you add air only once a year? pardon me, I must have misunderstood... For myself, I have to add 1.45 psi per tire once a month to respect the 36 [front] : 44 [rear] psi levels
  19. Thank you for your helpful comments. You are right when you advise me to wax the wheel after its cleaning. Unfortunately, we don't find a wide variety of cleaning products where I live [no Rejex on shelves]. But I have managed to get a wax called "One grand blitz" [common product in the US] and it might be a good idea to use it on the rims. Thanks again.
  20. Hello, I am looking for a simple solution to remove tar and the rusty dust from the wheels . Apart from water and soap and some good amount of effort, I was wondering if any of you has ever used WD-40 to clean the interior of the wheel? Do you think that WD-40 would have an armful effect on the paint finish of the wheel? I don't know the precise composition of WD-40 but I know that it contains some petroleum derivatives and no silicone. Thanks for your comments.
  21. I am sorry to ask that, but would it be possible to get a pic of the plate please, possibly with the plate set up under the car...sorry I am curious but don't want to bother you. Consider my question only if you have a pic in your HD computer. Thanks.
  22. Hi, What a nice car, highexplosive !! Congratulations and best wishes !!
  23. Tool Pants, Thanks for the link. I'll read the articles very attentively!
