  1. I don't know why aftermarket 20's would be any different than OEM 20's as faras the steering rack is concerned. Lots of folks here and at rennlist have 22's with no problems, though I think 22's are a little over the top. I have aftermarket Italia AT rims for my snowtires (albeit in 18) and they work fine. I have OEM 19's on mine- it was the best deal when I ordered mine.
  2. FWIW- disconnected a couple running lights as there were 17 of them! Lights work fine now- probably drawing too much current for the module... the S pulls the 18' enclosed aluminum trailer VERY nicely BTW.
  3. Thanks as usual. Going to "fiddle" with wiring tomorrow and if that doesn't work then a trip to the dealer... :(
  4. Just got a new enclosed ATC trailer and when hooking it up today for a maiden voyage around the block, the turn signals and brake lights worked fine- got a check trailer lights prompt when I turned on the headlights- and no running lights. I used it to tow a small enclosed trailer last fall and it worked fine. No errors. I have a CS with the factory towing package- May '04 build. Any ideas?? I understand there is a TSB but can't find it on the list.
  5. This car would look good in grey primer!! :drive:
  6. If yours is an '04 you have Gen 1 PCCB's- go over to rennlist and see what people say about tracking them- they'll talk you into steel rotors for the track. I originally was going to get them but am glad now I didn't. Big debate over pad types as well, and of course tires. You may want to drive it a little before you align it so everything settles- just a thought...
  7. YOu'll get a 100 different opinions here, but I'd never go 15K miles between an oil change. I'm probably more anal than most, but with the 911 I never go more than 4-5K miles tops, but do go a little more than that with the Cayenne. I just changed the oil the first time in that with 10K on the clock, and will probably change more often as I'll be towing with it some this summer.
  8. The oils draining right now- those panels are a PITA to remove but it seems all cars have those now. The cover for my son's Audi TT is also a pain to remove so nothing new. Nice having the same filter and housing for the GT3 and Cayenne. Can't imagine too many DIY-ers bother with this anymore. At least it's easier than changing the oil and FILTERS on my previous 993's. That was a REAL pain...

    Modifications to GT3

They are the factory seats they put in them in Europe- I believe they are made by Recaro but I don't know that for a fact. I'm sure someone here does... They don't fold so it's a little harder to put stuff in back- just have to be creative!

    Modifications to GT3

Might also consider an alignment- many of the cars came with a "unusual" free factory alignment that was way off. Many also swear by corner weighting, though I haven't done that... yet. (And of course, the real euro seats.)
  11. Following this closely as I was a month off getting satellite as my '04 was made in May '04. I'd love satellite radio as my company car, a A4 ultrasport came with built in Sirius and now I can't live without it!!

    GT3 car bra

I got a colour matched bra from Speed Lingerie last year in arctic silver with matching covers for the mirrors. Fit very well and the screens keep a lot of crap out of the radiators. We had a bumper crop of grasshoppers here last summer and they would have totally clogged the radiators after a road trip without the covers. Not real cheap, but quality stuff. Better than the old Colgan bras I've used over the years since my first Porsche in 1971...
  13. That sounds a little better!
  14. It seems odd that those skirts are just held on with "tape." If I bought some boy racer stuff at Autozone I might expect that, but on a $100K car? Is the AMG stuff on the boy racer Mercedes cars stuck on with tape as well???? Luckily mine of still nice and tight thank you...
  15. Car being shipped to Loeber Porsche tomorrow to have the valve retainer "repair" done. They've already done one and the tech is familiar with the car. Has to be aligned afterwards because part of the suspension has to be removed to get the engine out apparently. Needed to check it anyway- will be interesting to see how it was aligned from the factory... will let you folks know how it goes. Like I'm going to be driving the car for the next few months anyway... March is a long way off in Iowa!
  16. Have the car in today for the DME W414 upgrade and the dealer calls to tell me I"ve won the lottery- I'm one of 12 affected by the dreaded valve spring retainer "problem." I'm actually al little nervous even letting them do this DME thing and replacing a non working horn and sure don't want them REBUILDING my engine! I'm not sure the dealer I bought the car from is up to the task either. Living in Iowa you don't have a lot of choices and non of the dealers anywhere near here sell that many P cars and both dealers I've dealt with each sold ONE GT3. Should I talk to the regional Porsche service rep? Would they ever let a Porsche race shop like Kelly-Moss in Madison WI do the work as I'd trust them. Or take it to a bigger dealer in a bigger city in the midwest?? **** :censored:
  17. Viken- I know I could just call my dealer in town here or the dealer I bought it from (3 hours away) but I figure no news is good news. Haven't heard anything yet or received anything in the mail... I DON'T want a local yocal tearing into that engine!!! Would Porsche ever let a place like Kelly-Moss do the work if it's neccessary?
  18. I've got the remote right in the middle on top of the steering wheel in all my cars. With black interior it's almost invisible and almost in your line of sight. I had mine on the 911 where the console used to be after doing the console delete, but didn't like looking away that far to see it. Much easier to glance at it where it is now. Having the main unit completely dark is invaluable, especially at night.
  19. Don't see the latest TSB showing up on the list- the latest is the DME upgrade of which my car is included. Wanted to see the VIN's for the valve spring deal hoping mine isn't on it!! Also, I want to contribute so I can view it, but don't know how to use paypal... guess I need my kids to help this computer illiterate.
  20. Just installed it yesterday. Looks good, just hope it holds up! Easy to mount- had RainX on previously, hope the carb cleaner followed by window cleaner took it off...guess I'll find out...
  21. Ring- I would have to agree. I've looked a couple V-nose aluminum trailers that seem reasonably well made for a lot less $$ than the Trailex. Yes it is nice but I don't see why it's worth 4-5K more...

    Access For Horns?

Loren- do I have to remove the bottom lip spoiler from the bumper cap first or will this come off with the bumper?

    Access For Horns?

As usual, thanx Loren. Didn't think of your DIY- I've looked at that before as I want to clean my radiators at the end of the season anyway. Kill two birds with one stone...

    Access For Horns?

Lost the low tone horn and the car sounds like a Hyndai- want to see if it's the horn or just a conection. How do I access them? Hope I don't have to remove the whole front bumper!!
  25. Are specs different for cars (trucks) with air suspension- and at what setting in height?
