  1. Have 06 C2 myself; when I was in the buying mode, I too wanted the full nav pack...which I found. That said, I use my Iphone all the time - very accurate, touch/voice controlled and no update DVDs to buy.
  2. Loren - it as been a while; thanks for checking in; And Yes, it is vented; Quite impressed with the start strength.
  3. Just got a new one from Advance Auto Parts, Fort Myers...same deal as Cassiebox (above); $175 less 15%, less $50 coupon - brought it into store and they installed it for free. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Battery,-Group-Size-94R,-730-CCA-AutoCraft-Gold_2130011-P_2916_S|GRPBATTAM2___
  4. Phillip: Can you please advise what size the hex screws are? Thank you.
  5. Loren/All: Any possibility that an "optional" field could be added (to the registry) that would allow members to identify their local PCA affiliation...and that this field also be added to the Search filter dropdown? Or if State is 1:1 with PCA organizations, then perhaps adding State (from profile) to Registry Search filter dropdown? Thanks for listening.
  6. I saw one up close a few years back; like the photoshop'd pic at this link http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=499815 , I think it would look better in satin or matt finish. From a resale perspective, I've got to believe that a fixed ragtop would fare better than a broken one, with a hardtop...additionally, I found my former Boxster far too noisy (engine noise) with the top up.
  7. Hey Arad: When I went looking for an extended warranty for a 06' 997 C2 with 31k, my research told me that there are really only two non-Porsche players that can trusted: 1. http://easycare.com/; Accredited by BBB, backed by Motor Trend and Insured by Zurich 2. www.warrantydirect.com ; Accredited by BBB, and referenced by several on this site I decided to go with EasyCare...even signed the paperwork, but then found out (and this is a long story) that a former CPO warranty would still apply - EasyCare gave back the deposit with no questions asked; I'll likely go back to them once the CPO runs out. I believe EasyCare's price for Primary Care was $2500 for up to 4 years or 60k. Let us know what you decide.
  8. I had the same problem with my 2006 C 2S. I brought it in for the problem and it was tightened up and now opens fine, and does not rattle anymore. It is however slighly out of position when compared to the passenger side. RB1 RB1: Super thanks for the response...dealer called me today and said that it was wear and tear, so would not be covered by CPO...total cost to me will be $80...will let you know the result. thx again. RB1: Fixed and looks the same as the passenger door - all for $67, noting my dude did a 30/70 split; turned out to be a cable inside the door, not the handle itself
  9. You may also want to check this out: http://moweraxle.com/homepage.html I expect to order next week.
  10. As long as the name of the owner (and other personal information, like address, etc.) is NOT provided, there are no Data Privacy Issues. Try again, asking VIN only. I recently called a California dealer and got a verbal confirmation of service and repairs. Best of Luck
  11. The PCM manual is separate from the Owner's Manual; you can find them in the "Documents Menu", above; this is the specific Cayenne PCM Manual that was listed: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/1131-cayenne-pcm-manual/
  12. In the spirit of sharing...I had a Les Schwab XTreme Power Battery installed yesterday in my 06 997c2 - it was recommended by a Porsche Service Manager. It cost $99 plus $10 install. · 24 Month Free Replacement Warranty · 84 Month Pro-Rata Warranty · 590-900 Cold Cranking Amps http://lesschwab.com/batteries/xtremepower.asp Have never heard of Les Schwab Tire Centers. Are they local to you ? They don't make their own batteries so could be the model you bought was made by Interstate for them and explains the similarity of the two. I'll reach out and provide any relevant updates. I believe they are NW only.

  15. Hey all. The Driver's side door exit lever (the thing you pull to get out of the car) on my 2006 997-1 c2 is loose - loose enough that the car thinks the door is about to be opened, so the window drops a tad. Any thoughts as to whether this might be something that needs to be tightened, or something more serious? Many thanks

  17. where in florida? Destin, Florida Here is a pretty comprehensive intro to Boxsters: http://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/mi...boxsterwebpages While mostly focused on 986, there is some great general knowledge items that should help Thanks. Been all over that site. Its been a great help. I wish i could find a good guide somewhere to buying a car out of state from a private seller. Anyone know of one? Not aware of any publication, however the DMV sites for the respective states should at least help with processing requirements. best of luck

  19. Loren - thx very much for quick response. Ps. I just heard back from my local Porsche Service Manager (whom I trust), and he confirms your thinking - thanks again
  20. Folks, A bit of an URGENT request: All set to buy a 2006 997 c2; has everything that I wanted, and more...passed every item on the PPI except these Faulst Codes, which were explained away *** related to a cold start test - PLAUSIBLE? P0300 Factory Fault Code 507 - Misfire detection Sum total P0306 Factory Fault Code 513 - Misfire, cylinder 6 And, While NOT a pass/fail, or even addressed by the PI (though requested separately) are the DME Over-rev results - according to the Service manager, these are higher than he'd like to see, but are not an issue; he insists that this techie agrees and that these numbers WOULD NOT pose a threat to the warranty being voided: Range 1: 9008 1180.2h Range 2: 2235 1180.2h Range 3: 652 1173.3h Range 4: 47 1173.3h Range 5: 1 1173.3h From what I read on this BB and on a misc thread on Rennlist: - Ranges 1-3 are totally acceptable, and even expected - Range 4 was described as the GRAY ZONE - Range 5 was that there is likely damage to engine with the potential that the warranty would be voided I would greatly appreciate ANY feedback, though fact and personal experience are preferred - if you are a Mechanic, Porsche or otherwise, PLEASE WAY IN> NOTE: The deposit timeframe runs out Wednesday around 1pm, so your timely assistance is requested. Thank you in advance, Paul :o :o :o :o :o
  21. Hey cbzzoom, I going through a similar effort - live in Portland, OR and I buying from a broker in Phoenix. 1. Re: Deposit, same here noting that deposit was contingent on no Mechanical or Electrical issues...Mechanical includes Level 4-6 ignitions and high levels in Level 2-3. I will be putting down a $1000 tomorrow...after which it will be off to the local P dealer. 2. From reading other posts, an auction does not necessarily mean something is bad. 3. My research tells me that Reliable Carriers (a 20%) premium is worth the piece of mind 4. In my opinion, either you, or someone else (that you know) needs to see the car. Often, the brokers put a little disclaimer into their add that you cannot rely on the content of their ad - so, grab the Vin and have a chat with your local P dealer - confirm options and warranty, if any. 5. Re: Service Records, I had two services done over the last 5 yrs, and neither appear on the CarFax, so... All the best
  22. While my case deals with a broker, the same applies; he was not willing to assign resources to transport the car TO and FROM, unless I was willing to first commit a refundable (for mechanical/electrical) deposit; in my case, $1000. I made a point adding that mechanical included no Level 4-6 ignitions and no high levels of 2 and 3 ignitions. My inspection is set for Monday/Tuesday. Wish me luck
  23. Hi All, Evaluating a 06 997 C2; it was recommended to me that I should ask for the diagnostic report...but would not know what to look for - assume generic fault codes and to what extent is has been red-lined? Your recommendations are appreciated. Thank you, Paul
