  1. Can someone scan a copy of the sticker in the service book and post? Is there anything special about it? Laminted etc? I have mine in the hood but had to order a new book since it was missing. I didn't know there was a sticker there also. It should be easy to replicate using excel. Just need to know what it looks like. My Boxster S came with everything from the original owner, except the service book. I suspect the service book was kept or trashed by the dealer because of personal info (address, etc) of the orignal owner. Too bad.
  2. Concur with starter. Also check the engine ground strap that its in good shape. Simple and easy DIY replacement. I had this exact proble on my 75 Super Beatle, 74 911 and 83 911SC. In each case it was the starter.
  3. I had an 83 Euro spec'd SC as a daily driver for over 11 years. They are bulletproof, great cars. Have fun with the search. 3 items come quickly to mind. They are requirements. 1. Carrera chain tensioners, 2. Air box flapper valve, and a good history. (Seems like there is one other mechanical thing and I'm forgetting it) Good luck. Dan
  4. This may or may not be relevent, but I used to have a similar problem in my 75 Super Beetle and my 83 911SC. There were a couple of items that may be interesting to look at. Since the battery in an 83 is way up in the front trunk, as the car got hot, resistance increased in the cables and it wouldn't turn over. The starter just clicked. I could push start the car with about 3 steps. A fix or suggested remedy was make sure the chassis ground strap wasn't all corroded and replace if necessary. I did that and I guess it may have helped. The think the real cause was a small crack on one of the starter posts. It got hot, the crack opened enough so a contact couldn't be made and it wouldn't start. When it cooled it was fine. As a was driving my new 01 Boxster home I wonder if when it got hot if I would have to push it to start it. Like I said my experience may not be related, just tossing it out there.
  5. I don't know about the retro fit you are asking about. But the reimporting of a US spec car to Europe is a major pain for the USA dealers. A Porsche/Mercedes sales rep was telling me they actually get fined by Mercedes once the USA VIN shows up at a dealer in Europe. He said they get called almost weekly for inquiries looking for black Cayennes, 911s and certain model Mercedes. Lots of exports to China and the Middle east. Its comical to me if true because I used to have a Euro Spec'd 911 SC. It was a great car and I drove it daily for 11 years. The dealer wouldn't even work on it! Their loss in my opinion. It was like a total bastard child to them. I guess that is due to the thought that reimporting a car takes away a sales from the local dealer. Who cares a Porsche is a Porsche. Good luck with your quest and keep us posted.
  6. Thanks Maurice, Just the kind of useful information I was looking for. I was really debating removing the rubber covers. Thanks and very much appreciated. Dan
  7. I just got a set of aluminum pedals of eBay to put on my 01 Boxster S. I'm looking for thoughts from others before I do the install. Which is best, remove the stock rubber covers on the pedals and install the new ones, or leave the rubber covers in place and drill through them? Thanks, Dan
  8. Thanks, I suspected as much and I'll check it out. I apprecaite the response Dan
  9. I've recently pickup a rattle on my 01 Boxster S. It is coming from the right rear, and you only hear it when you rev the engine. Sounds alot like a loose or vibrating shroud or heat shield of some sort. Its only a nuisance, but it didn't do it before. Ideas or an obvious place to look? Thanks, Dan
  10. Does anyone know if you can get a similar passenger side, footwell plate like the one pictured in this Carrera GT for a Boxster? I have a set of aluminum pedals and I think the plate on the passenger side looks good too. Picture is from Manhattan Porsche's Carrera GT. Thanks, Dan
  11. You are not alone. It can be theraputic. Sorry for your loss.
  12. After 2 911's and now a Boxster S, I have found the best place to drive is with the tach pointing straight up. It's not the best for gas mileage, but you bump the thottle and it goes. Porsches were meant to be driven and I think if you experiment you'll find you own sweet spot. The tach straight up doesn't get much better. Pure Fahrvernuegen!
  13. Order a COA from Porsche NA. See what they say. Side bar, is your email, bresnan dot com or bresnan dot net?
  14. If this was my Land Rover, I would say check the gas cap. A check engine light happens when the cap doesn't get screwed on all the way. Make sure it is screwed on with 3 clicks. Drive it awhile and the code clears. In the the LAnd Rover its about 25 starts of the ingition. There is the chance I have no idea what I'm talking about!
  15. I bought a new Disc from Navteq for my 2001 Boxster S. A new tom tom is a better dollar value, but like you said having it not work is unacceptable. Where the stuff is dated in new subdivisions, not highways and interstates for the most part. I made a copy of the disk and use it in the car and keep the original safe. Toll-Free at 888-628-6277 or e-mail us at NABC_English@navteq.com
  16. I sent you the pages in question. Please let me know if you get it and if it works. Cheers, Dan
  17. I have the US version manual. It is called Porsche Communications Management The part number appears to be WKD 475 424 99 I'll see if I can find the info and if so email you a pdf of the page. You might just get the manaul at the dealer. It will be worth the effort. I had to hunt one down myself.
  18. JFP in PA, Glad that's working great for you. Hope you enjoy it. Question, does your personality match your avatar?
  19. The part number is: 986.561.655.00 Cost: .67
  20. An absolutely unnecessary mod, but it looks good.
  21. After living in Europe where I had a rear fog light on my 911 and BMW, I always use it in the rain. That way folks behind you can see you. They should be on all cars in my opinion. You only need one to be seen.
  22. Actually this was a great selling point to become a contributing member. The TSB covered this in detail. Dan
  23. It was just a question. Has anyone actually seen one of these in person? I can't understand why anyone would want to do that. That said I have personally seen Bill Harrah's Jeep Wagoneer with a Ferrari V12 in it. So strange things happen. Bill Harrah's has a well documented history.
