  1. Let us know what happens after the fix on the rotor. I'd not want the rotors to be cut as that makes them thinner. Hopefully, they are just sanding them to rough them up. RE the flashing camera, you'll problaby get somehting in the mail in a month or two. If other cars are around you, maybe the flash is for them. Otherwise, you're toast. It takes a while to get a ticket as someone has to read the plate and pull out your records. It's impossible to fight such tickets...
  2. Look on ebay, lots of center caps. Watch out for the fake ones though. Colored crest caps are not really in style anymore. I'd opt for some plaint black on silver ones.
  3. The stock alarm has an IR motion sensor which I find to be quite effective compared to shock sensors that go off all the time. I don't think you'll do better to prevent theft. You can always add the club and use car cover for additional deterrence.
  4. Best Buy has both I think. TomTom has a smaller screen and no side by side display. Also, I don't know about future map support w/ it. Garmin display can be slow when you want to scroll around the map to look ahead. Otherwise, no issues.
  5. Did you check coolant level and temperature? Weather is getting warmer so a lot of stop and go traffic will raise temp. Also look for any missing heat shields near the exhaust.
  6. Antifreeze should last lifetime but I would change it at about 45-60k. Brake flush is every 2 yrs so you're due. Inspect pad and rotor for wear and brake hose for chaff/leak. Change air filter at 30k and pollen filter at 15k. Oil change every 15k or sooner (10k for me). Spark plug / belt every 60k. Of course, do forget to inspect all suspension, cooling hose, brake hose, belts, fluids, exhaust system for leaks at every service.
  7. Kragen carries 0-40w but they may run out of it sometimes. Pep Boy doesn't have 0-40w. Costco doesn't have 0-40w. I'd call around to different Kragen to see if they have it in stock. $5 is regular price.
  8. 01 is definitely plastic. i also think 03 is the intro of glass rear
  9. Start with wax or polish. Use lots of elbow grease, it's gentle on the paint but not abrasive enough to remove much. If not removed, use Scratch X or scratch remover from Zaino. Apply liberally. I'd not use rubbing compound as it's too harsh for clear coat.
  10. Just change the wiper insert (rubber). It's a waste of money and resource to change the wiper blade if your old ones are fine. If your OEM wiper blade is worn badly, get some Bosch ones or OEM. Check for prices at local dealers, allgermanparts.com, P dealer such as brandywine, suncoast
  11. Are you sure it's not just your pollen filter that's dirty?
  12. Try the windshield repair kit or have a glass shop repair it. Ins company also offers free repairs also. If results are no good, spring for a new window.
  13. What year is that car? I didn't know there is another option other than HIFI in pre-02 996. The speaker doesn't look factory.
  14. My theory is that winter stored cars are more prone to RMS since no lube for months during storage. I believe there are RMS cases for daily drivers so my theory isn't 100% proof. If your theory is true, would RMS stop if you just change to thicker oil?
  15. Rib is the OEM for Michelin Pilot Sport. They are in 285/30/18 size. Check prices are tirerack, add another $22 for mounting, balancing, stem. That should be your guide on prices. Ask to see if Costco can order these. I've always had luck with them but they do take 1-2 wks to order. Otherwise, I've heard wheel enhancement is a reputable in place. Ask local tire shop to match Tire rack prices too or just order from TR.
  16. That is why I bought a 996 last year - 997 base isn't that much different than 996
  17. hmm, another lovely mod that adds weigh and 5 ghost hp. add park assist and laser cruise control to complete the first lexsche. :D
  18. Maybe a pic of what the problem is will help. I think you are talking about the rubber hose near by the door hinge but I can't see how that would be twisted unless it came apart at one end.
  19. Doesn't discount tire do alignment? Wheel works does a good job in alignment. They should check alignment first (usually free)
  20. Looks like it blend in well. What does it look like when you brake? What did the previous owner do to the old light?
  21. use a dipstick to determine how much u are over. if it's 1/2 qt or more, you'll need to either drain some out or suck some out using a topsider. you don't want to drive w too much oil bc that's cause foaming and not enough lubrication.
