  1. I think dealer did a disservice. They probably tried to buff out the scratch and burned the paint in doing so. Then they send your car to be repainted. I'd not go there again as they are doing more damage than good. Ask the body shop what happened. If this is true, dealer damaged your car and you are entitled to compensation (repaint, depreciation, loss of use). I'd prefer to get an estimate on the loss and ask for a check. The PSE and maintenace would probly be close to the depreciation but I'd not trust these people. Give the owner of the dealership a call and make a deal on compensation.
  2. there is no latch in back. the best place to put kids in still in the back seats. unless you have no other choice, i'd not put kids in front even with the deactivation of air bags.
  3. Check all the fluid levels, esp the engine oil over the next 2 wks. Also, see if your belts are tight. If no change after a wk or two, you should be OK.
  4. u have 20's and no wheel lock? i am surprised they aren't jacked! Better get a bunch of locks before the car end up on jack stands! don't add tint to the window. just remove valuables. how does the microchip work? if they are indoors, there is no gps receiption. i wonder how the item is tracked? seems like a gadget to me that doesn't work.
  5. so you have hifi sound right? someone changed the nokia speakers to focals and had great results. not sure if he changed the amp as well.
  6. You can get a generic evolution 4 cover for $70-100 at Pep Boys. Or, shop on eBay for a generic one. These are 4 ply with lining. Noah is good too but slightly thinner and less ding resistent. Since the mirrors fold, universal cover fit quite well. It'll protect your top from sun as well. Unless you live somewhere windy, you don't need to lock it or tie it down. Putting up the cover takes 1 min once you get used to it. You'll need less washing too. Chances are, this guy will come back. Never leave valuables in the car. Your alarm should have also gone off. Put some wheel locks if you have 18" too. My fear is a cut top or keyed paint. Broken glass and stolen parts are a pain but not detrimental. Certainly covered by insurance.
  7. check tire pressure monthly - improves gas mileage and tire life too. Too bad we can't rotate tires on these cars.
  8. if you need pics, just do a search on eclipe and nav. plenty of ppl have done this.
  9. Sorry, no PN but your dealer would be able to price it. $300 seems waaay too high. I'd just return it and look elsewhere. I had an issue with Road and Race too. I'd not buy from this guy. The fact that you got a broken part tells you he just isn't very good about disclosing things. Majority of use part shops on eBay should be avoided. Most sell scrap that are in bad condition. I'd buy from individuals on eBay next time.
  10. definitely more coupes, don't know by how much though. the recent christophorus magazine has these figures I think. you can google their site and look it up that way. PCNA may have similar stats.
  11. just get a custom made on from lloyds and you'll save a few hundred
  12. i am guessing your stereo installer screwed something up when putting the door panel back. i'd ask them to fix it if that's the case. the spring for the handle is pretty hard to unhook itself. the door panel takes 30 to remove and reinstall so it's pretty easy.
  13. I'd get a cab with a hardtop. If you like targa, you can find it at a cheaper price too as they are not very desirable. You'll probly stay away from coupe as you'll want some open air action that coupe won't provide. Look on ebay and other popular boards. There is usually a good deal if you can wait a month or two.
  14. You're pretty crazy! That ramp is 6 ft long! I've used non skid foam pads under the ramps to keep them from moving. With that, I've had no issue even with low air dams. The ramps just gets pushed from the air dam a little so preventing them from sliding solves the problem as the dam will clear the ramp once tires start rolling onto the ramp
  15. I spilled water once on the carpet without knowing it. When I found the can, the carpet was evaporated and dry. The foam was still damp.
  16. Is it just water or something else like coolant / softdrink / coffee? Where is the carpet wet? Has it been raining a lot? Drain line can be cleaned by poking hanger into the drain holes carefully. If the wet spots are near the door, perhaps rain got in while getting in or out of car.
  17. Do you need to paint over vinyl or something? You won't get a good match unfortunately if that's the case.
  18. 03 has an in dash cd player where as 02 has a cassette. 03+ use a optical fibre system for stereo which makes upgrades and ipod integration nearly impossible without re-wiring the stereo. Aside from the stereo, I don't think there is much difference but you'll get more remaining warranty with 03. I'd go with the 02 since you've got antoher 2 yrs of certified warranty. You should also investigate to see if any RMS history.
  19. don't let the resevoir go below min. otherwise, you'll suck in air into the systme. each wheel should lower the fluid level by about 100-200ml. By the second wheel bleed, the resevoir needs to be filled.
  20. You left the car overnight and they were not able to reproduce it? Why not leave it overnight and have the tech drive it with you in the morning? Also, try different dealer. It'll be hard to deny the problem once dealer is able to replicate it.
  21. Keep monitoring the leak. Are you sure it's RMS and not coming from the side? I'd fix it if you start seeing a small puddle under the car. Until then, don't worry about it. BTW, warranty is Asia sucks. It's only 2 years right? Warranty is the biggest reason to buy new. I think a 4-5 yr warranty should be standard.
  22. Does operating the top while in motion cause it to require more adjustments / lubes / alignments? It can't be great to operate a complex mechanism while in motion. The manual says only to operate top on flat surface. I find it a pain to fix rattles and would rather not operate top if it makes the top more rattle prone.
  23. Where do you live and is it a lot of stop and go? In places like DC, NYC and LA, you'll get stuck and a 2 mi drive turns into a 20 drive. You should get 15-17 mpg in the city with light traffic in suburb for example. Are you running too rich or idle is high? Also, this is a GT3 right? Most of us are quoting Carerra MPG.
  24. Ok, what's PDK? I know what DSG is but never heard of PDK...
