  1. Just a final update....the new mirror came with a button already attached (bought it used) so the easiest thing to do was scrape the old mirror off and attach the new mirror with permatex mirror adhesive and job done !!! A footnote...the button in theory should slide up and off but it was firmly attached to the replacement mirror. I would assume removing the mirror off the button while on the glass is just inviting a broken windshield or the mirror would just fly off the windshield it I tapped it hard enough

  3. How did you get it down to just the button? (slide off, release off?)
  4. That's one option. I guess the general question is there some kind of release from the mirror to the button on the windshield or does it slide up and off. I'm fearful of cracking the windshield since there is resistance to the slide off method. Ford uses a mirror release tool but I don't think it is used on Porsche. If I can't figure it out, I'll just remove the whole mirror and button from the glass and attach my new (used OEM) one with quality permatex mirror adhesive.
  5. I'm in the process of replacing my aging rearview mirror on on my 83 911sc. Is there any trick to removing the mirror from the button on the windshield (mirror removal tool or just tap off) or should I just scrape the whole thing off and attach the new one (OEM) with came with the button already attached with mirror adhesive??
  6. I have the same problem on my 05 Carrera. No idea but I once thought it was a loose underbelly panel but Porsche ruled that out on a recent oil change. They have no idea even though they verified it. I just turn up the stereo and look for smooth road
  7. My 05 Carrera sounds just like that as well. Close the doors more gently and it'll sound better. FWIW, My 83 911 slantnose sounds more solid with a decided "thunk" sound..very german! :huh:

  9. OEM batteries are notoriously weak. I have an 05 Carrera and still on the original battery with only 7500 miles. The heat here in Florida is the main culprit for battery death and I'm looking to do a pre-emptive battery change next week. Your usage is fine if you drive the car for 15 minutes to "charge" the battery, assuming your charging system is working normally. I have an old 80's "930 slantnose" that I drive once weekly and start it midweek and the battery has lasted 5 years!!! No need for trickle charge
  10. I'm looking for the best place to put 4 jack stands under my 997 so I can remove all the wheels at the same time and paint the calipers (and clean the inside of my wheels !!!) Any ideas???
  11. Same here in my Carrera (2005). Normal to have it at or near 5.
  12. Completed the alignment at Champion Porsche. Fixed and Flawless. It probably was out of alignment since it "seems" to drive tighter. Perhaps its the crest that is now centered and its my imagination :clapping:
  13. Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is a simple way to adjust my steering wheel on my 2005 997 so it faces centered (currently when driving a straight line it sits at 11:30 position..just one or two ticks off center) I probably don't need an alignment yet with 7000 miles of Florida road driving.
