  1. While at my dealer today, a guy was picking up his new GT3. On his trade (don't recall what the trade was) he has the PSS9's. He and the dealer told me they are removing them from the car and making it stock again. I have been given the option of getting that set if no one at the dealer takes them. He said there are about 10,000 miles on them. Is it a good or bad idea to get them used? If ok, what would a fair price be? Thanks Jeff
  2. I had a screw in my rear passenger side tire which casued a slow yet obvious air leak. I went to my Porsche dealer to have it repaired but they said they don't repair. They would temp patch the hole but said since the tire was "compromised", I should get a new tire. The hole was in the center of the tread, so they said I should go to Discount Tire to get a "high speed patch" put on. I did that. The tires only have 2000 miles on it. So, what is ok? Stay with the tire that's patched, or get a new tire? Would I need 2 new tires, one for each side? :cursing: Thanks Jeff
  3. I was going to also get the silver faces from FVD or TechArt, so could someone repost the DIY link. Thanks
  4. I bought my 05' C4S from Champion in Florida, and had it shipped to Seattle by Exotic Car Transport. They were fantastic. That is a long drive...shipping was $2500. For those of you wondering....The money I saved from buying at Champion (I know a saleman) far exceeded any discount I could get on a special ordered car on the west coast, including the $2500 shipping cost. I would go with Exotic Car Transport or InterCity Lines.... Jeff
  5. You can also buy an airbag with a silver crest from a place like www.carnewal-europe.com,but it's about $500.
  6. Jim, I got an 05' C4S (996)...comes with a spare....
  7. I don't have any experience with that stuff, but I just got a new P-car, and while checking into the proper tire pressures in my manual today, I noticed the following... "For safety reasons, don't use tire inflating bottles." Don't know if it's relevant, but just what I came across today....
  8. Yes, I know about the GT3 seats. I have regular seats in a 996 C4S. If I put in a rollbar, will my seats go back all the way still. I'm not worried about whether they can recline with the rollbar, just the base going back...I am 6'3".
  9. Does the installation of the rollbar with the crossmembers hinder the seats from moving all the way back? I am also tall. I know the seatbacks won't recline to much, but I need the seats to move all the way back.
  10. I've tried the technique of using Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol to remove the stickers from both sides of the sun visor, but to no avail. I heavily coated the stickers and waited and nothing at all happens. Today the stickers look exactly the same. The ERA didn't hurt any part of the visor, which was good. Are the new (05' 996) visor stickers the same as when this post was posted?(July 03') Any other suggestions on removing the stickers? I'll try a blowdryer next to heat them up I guess.
  11. Loren, Is this part number still correct? I called my local dealer today and they said it was $175, and not available in the US? $175...WTF! If the cost is $175, I may as well just get the TE rollbar for $1k.
  12. Thanks Poursha, but I'd like to find some bulbs that DON'T flash yellow. I don' want any yellow lights visible when the lights are on, or when I am turning. I'd like to have white flashing and white illuminated on the side markers. In my Expedition I removed all the yellow bulbs and put in clear. The bulbs, when on, always was white. It makes for a cleaner look.
  13. 1. Is there a link showing how to remove the stickers and saftey warning on the visors? 2. What is the proper torque for tightening wheel bolts? and do I need to re-lube the bolts each time I take off the wheel? (periodic cleaning of inner rim) 3. What lightbulb goes in the side markers and front headlights that is "white" when on? I have bi-xenons. I don't want any orange when the lights are on, and I'm not worried about local/DOT laws. 4. What is the part number for the cap that covers the silver bracket/rod holder in the center of the back seats, once you have removed the back seats? Thanks for any answers  ps. my car is an 05' C4S, if that matters.
  14. I tried a quick search, but didn't see info. Can someone give me a link that shows how to remove the rear bumperettes. I'd like to get them painted to match the car. It's a C4S. Thanks!
  15. Just a guess, but maybe the PSE installed at the factory when it comes with the car has the mentioned cut-out. And the latter installed PSE's don't utilize this cut-out?????
  16. I was wondering if there would be any adverse affects of having a GT2 bumper on a C4S (05') when driving at high speeds? with no other body mods, like a wing. Thanks Jeff
  17. I have had the car less than a week, and haven't had a chance to drive it yet, exept for a quick 25 miles when I picked it up. It has been in the shop all week, getting tinted, 3M paint protection, and the Escort SR7+ system put in. I'll get it back tomorrow. I will probably go with the PSS-9's to start, and if I don't like it for some reason, I'll try something else. The suspension it has now is great, yes, just would like to lower it an inch or so, for looks...without hindering performance. I'm putting on aftermarket wheels, so it would look better a little lower.
  18. BestBuy...install pros?? Good luck with that :o I've heard a number of stories where things went wrong with Porsche installs done at places like that. (Lot's of technical wiring in the car) I heard one place had to replace the whole wiring layout in the car cause they didn't know exactly what they were doing. Just my 2 cents, watch out for low budget stores with "teens" as their installers, many of them lack experience (first-time installers).
  19. I just picked up my 05' C4S and would like to eventually lower the ride height. Among the suspensions mentioned in the topic title, which is the best choice? The car is not a daily driver, and I don't know if it will ever be tracked. I'm looking for a somewhat comfortable ride. :jump: I will be pushing the car at times of 125+mph - 160+mph(someday?). And of'course, it's about the looks too! Thanks for your input! Jeff
  20. I have a question about this PSE as well..... If I cut-out the by-pass, the PSE is always on at any speed, BUT..can the PSE still be turned ON and OFF? tia
  21. I believe standard wheels on a C4S is 8,11x18. I am planning on putting on aftermarket rims that are 8.5x18 up front and a few mm over 11x18 on the rear, will this fitment be ok? Thanks :)
