  1. I have an '03 Boxster, and it looked like the only thing that was missing from the car were the door sills, or door-entry guards, etc.  I found that the stainless steel guards made by Porsche were pretty expensive, and the carbon fiber even more.  I am assuming that you already know that.  I however, found a cheaper alternative.  Porsche sells door sills for the Boxter S that are much cheaper than the stainless steel and carbon fiber.  They are black and made of heavy duty plastic, and they sell for approx. $60.00 each at Sunset.  If you don't mind the door guard saying 'Boxster S'  this is an alternate.  This is the way I went and they look good.  If you want I can post a pic.  Good luck!    :jump:

    Please a pic!!!! B)

    Is it OEM?

  2. I am going to install 6mm spacers in my Boxster MY99 (manual transmission) with SportClassic II wheels

    Front: 7,5 J x 18 ET 50

    Rear: 9 J x 18 ET 52

    Two questions:

    1. Recommended by Porsche is 5mm...... Can I try 6mm? no problem?

    2. Will I need longer bolts or just standard bolts?

    :help: :help: :help:

    Regards.

  3. No need to remove the wheels to check. Just look between the spokes where the wheel attaches to the hub/brake rotor. Without a spacer, the wheel will mount flush to the "hat" in the middle of the brake rotor.  If there is a 5mm spacer, you will see the thin disc (less than 1/4") between the wheel and the rotor hat.

Porsche put 5mm spacers on the 550 special edition Boxsters. If you don't have one of those, you are not likely to have the spacers on the car. The increased track width may provide a very marginal improvement in handling. A lot of folks like to use larger spacers to improve the appearance by making the wheels flush with the fenders. Popular sizes are 14mm in the rear and 7mm in front.

If you add spacers, make sure you use longer bolts. The Porsche 5mm spacer kit comes with longer bolts which are distinguished by red sleeves at the top of the shaft.

My wheels are sportclassic2 18" with that throat and et. Shall I buy spacers? I am not sure..

  4. Today I have been watching porsche web and I have seen:

    BOXSTER

    For wheels 18"

    7.5J x 18 (50)

    9J x 18 (52)

"Recommended fitment of Porsche Tequipment spacers:

5-mm spacers on all four wheels."

    Two questions:

    1. How I can know if my car has spacers? (don´t tell me removing wheels) :P

    2. Why Porsche recommends it? Much difference? is it worth to spend money in spacers?

    Regards.

  5. Did you have a flat tire on the passenger rear

after the accident? Your pictures don't show that

    tire.

I check my tires regularly and went out the

other day for a drive. I got a flat on my passenger

rear tire and couldn't feel it. I was on surface

streets (30mph or less) and was told by a car

next to me at a stop light, that I had a flat. I

was glad I wasn't on the freeway. Oh, I also

    have 18 inch tires.

Have you tried to drive by the spot where

it happened, to see if there is anything that

    might explain the acident?

No, I had not any flat. The only thing I suppose is the wearing down but tires have 13.000km. I dont know if central wearing down rear wheels is normal or not. Some peple told me its normal cause boxster has rear traction.

  6. If you're worried about your springs, check your ride height.  74K kms doesn't seem that high.

I would suspect alignment before suspension.  Alignment is something you need to check on a regular basis--especially if you intend to drive your car hard.

Today I have tested suspension efficiency with test machine:

    results:

    front

    left: 59%

    right: 57%

    rear

    left:57%

    right: 52%

Is it Ok? what do you think...?
