  1. What a useful thread. OK for those of you who have had to reattach part #34 - any tricks or suggestions on how to get them into place?
  2. Loren, thanks for posting but the strap is not shown in the diagram. Can you put up the seat diagram, please? I am hoping it will show there.
  3. I need part numbers for L side and R side seat belt retaining straps to fit sport seats in Carrera Red leather please.
  4. I have the Softronic remap, which you download and install your self. I am quite pleased with it. Performance gain is relatively small, but mileage improved as did throttle response.
  5. Does anyone have apicture of how this piece fits on the car? it is plastic that covers part of the convertible top mechanism - I think, but no picture to guide me as to which end is up although this does say R on it -indicating it is a right hand side of car. Anybody want to photograph one in their car? Please.
  6. lithiums tutorial is the best thus far. Re the string and pulling the clips off - in retrospect looking at the clips off the car as in the part for sale on ebay picture - helps a lot about understanding how to loop the string - you want it around the whole curved lip not just through the little circular hole in the center of the lip.
  7. Lithium1330 did just a phenomenal job on this. The pesky electrical connector for the bumper - push the two halves together, THEN push down on the tab and pull apart (Easier said than done). put parts in baggies and label them as you take them apart. It makes going back together easier. those funny shaped clips that Lithium shows looping the cord around to pull out . The slide back in just the way they came out, so make sure the hook on the end that you put cord around is facing the same way it came out. If you are a newbie like me - Lithium says he can do this job in 15 minutes. It took me a whole weekend to take apart and put back together. Lessons learned: 1. put parts in baggies and label them as you take them apart. It makes going back together easier. 2. stop when tired. 3. it is easier to do this job when car is on jack stands with front wheels off the ground - I did it twice with car on ramps - which makes removing and putting the screws for the wheel liners and the wheel liners back in much more difficult. 4. If you are stuck like I was doing the job with the car up on ramps - remove (or at least loosen) the four torx screws holding the wheel liner in place with the car on the ground so you can turn steerng wheel to give better access. Once they are loose, you can do the rest of the way with your fingers, but hard to initally loosen. In the spirit of saying thanks to Lithium, I hope these help those who follow.

  10. part number please, Plus, what tool does one need to use to replace it. I think there is a specialized electrical tool - what is it called and how do you use it to remove old pins from old connector and put in the new one? Lithiums excellent tutorial on bumper removal states " On the passenger side, you’ll need to disconnect the electric connector that powers your fog lamps/city lights. To make this part easier, I suggest detaching the connector from the metal piece. Then, just push down on the connector clip and pull the plugs apart. I had a tough time first time around... but bear with it." unfortunately the connector clip is broken...
  11. Super job - the pictures are really helpful. for other neophytes like me - the Torx for the bumper cover it self are T25, the fender liner ones including the 5th one are T20. I'll post more that i learn as I go.
  12. I would like to get a copy of the 987 manuals if possible for a 2008 model. the old post says to PM you so I am doing so. I am in need of pictures so I can figure out how to remove various parts without damaging them. I need to know how to remove the dimmable mirror from the windshield, etc.

  13. Thanks Loren! Question- are the attachment for both mirrors the same? E.g. can i mount the non-dimable regular mirror in a car which originally had dimmable, while dimmable is being repaired/modified? anyone got directions on how to remove replace mirror without messing up the trim?

  15. Just pull up on the knob - turns out to be the answer - the center does NOT pop out like other models! Don't ask me how i learned this.
  16. I I, too, found the @#$%^ Homelink problematic trying to code it. It took 2 years but the friggin homelink finally failed on a consistent basis - the LED for reprogramming no longer lit up! Back to dealer - they said it was a software issue and reflashed the car. It didn't fix it. dealer replaced the homelink unit behind the bumper. I drove it home - it programmed the first time and has held, worked without problem ever since. Please note I also have a 2008 model.
  17. those grills on dashboards of 987 - it looks like there should be a center speaker that goes under the grill but maybe only if you got bose option. Is there a part number for that speaker or the others that would go on the left and right of the dash? Assuming speakers go there what is the impedence for each speaker? Part numbers for each please.
  18. part numbers for both the auto dim rear view mirror and the non-auto dim rear view mirror for 2008 987's please. Also, anyone got a good pictorial guide to how to remove and replace the mirror?
  19. No the shift pattern center top does not come off unlike the base knob. the shift knob just pulls straight off - but you have to undo the plastic collar under the leather shift boot first.
  20. Loren: The picture is a big help. Thanks - I have held my install in suspension awaiting an answer. Questions - the plastic pieces labelled #35 in the picture - are they reusable? do I just put a plastic tool under the head and pry them out? Sorry - for the neophyte questions - but I love my car and I don't want to bugger it up - not to mention one too many experiences with plastic fastners that turned out to be made of unobtainium or platinum priced.

  23. Question: How do I get the shift knob off on an RS 60 boxster. There does not appear to be a center disk to lift (e.g. on other models it appears the shift pattern circle shaped piece at the top of the knob needs to be pried off to access torx screws below. So far it does not appear that the RS 60 shift knob is constructed in the same manner. Anyone got experience with this?
