  1. I can confirm that paintless dent removers can fix in'ies and out'ies with amazing results.
  2. Just did it about 3 weeks ago. What an improvement over the old stock Miata-styled bumper! It was a fairly easy fit. I didn't cut the metal crossbar, I didn't even paint it. I just covered the 3-4" on each side that shows through the grill with black electric tape. And it looks great. Definitely don't bother cutting or replacing it. That's way overkill. You can't attach the bumper at the bottom because the 5 of the screw holes don't line up. But you have enough bolts at the top and the sides to hold it securely. You can use tie wraps to hold it at the bottom if you want. The wheel well linings need just a little trimming with an exacto knife to fit with the new bumper. And the big left and right grills need to remove the little mini-scoops on the inside of the grill to clear the metal bar. They come off pretty easily if you cut into their 2 mounting points and then pull them off. I did not change any of the radiator scoops and it is just fine. Same airflow if not more with the new bumper to the radiators.

  4. I don't think I had air in the lines before the bleed. There were no signs of a previous bleed (paint perfect on the nipple covers, and less than 10K miles on a 2003 when I got it). So I am not sure how air could get in. With the suction method, you don't have any way for the air to get in unless the reservoir runs dry. But I never let it get below the min line while bleeding. I know pressure bleeding is popular around here, but suction is just as good if not better... I did do some pumping of the brakes while bleeding. And I really flushed it well with 3 quarts (which is a way more than I needed to do, but what the heck). The pedal feels fine and all the check lights have stayed off. Joee, how did you get air in the system?
  5. Anybody have a check brake and PSM light after bleeding the brakes? It went away after some brake pedal pumping and 2 restarts, but I still didn't expect it. It was saying my brake fluid level was low (it was at the Max arrow). I followed the DIY except for using my trusty suction bleeder (nice Griot's garage one man bleeder), and put probably 3 qts of brake fluid through the system. BTW, the Mintex Red Box pads are on and the Wheel Wax is applied to the BBS mesh style wheels, so we'll see how that works out for clean-free wheels.
  6. Look on the sticker under the hood and then decode those numbers somewhere around here on the internet. I know the 030 is the US sport suspension, which I have, and it is not soft. I seriously doubt you could re-use his suspension. His is a heavier car with all the turbo stuff. And I haven't heard that many good things about the stock turbo suspension anyway. To research suspensions, do searches on the Euro 030 and PSS9 and something like the X74 (or X73)...
  7. Be careful. The PSE with the .00 part number on the muffler will not work on your car. Any other one will (.01, .03, .04). This is the part number stamped on the muffler, not the part number of the entire PSE kit. You will notice the .00 visually becaise it has the much smaller bypass pipes. As far as price, $1400 delivered is very good. I got lucky and got mine for $900 from someone who bought it new but didn't take it out of the box before selling the car. So keep an eye out on the forums to see if you get lucky. Trust me, you don't need to install the electronics. The car is really pretty quiet unless you are hard on the gas.
  8. if the cop does pass by, get him to help. many of them know how to do it. put some electric tape on the end of the coat hanger to protect the finish. if you go easy, you shouldn't hurt anything...
  9. I can only offer sympathy... That bites! But wait, what about using a coat hanger through the frameless window to get to the interior door handle? Pre-keyless remotes, I use to keep a hanger in the crome bumper of my high school car so I could get back in whenever I locked the key in the car (like every other day). I got to the point where I could open it in 10 seconds.
  10. Well, that was it! I connected 2, 5, and 6 together and re-connected the Green/Yellow and it works. I left the microswitch depressed for the 3rd brake light, but probably didn't need to... So, in summary, buy the replacement wiring harness. It's a major effort to remove the old one (everything has to come apart, including parts of the wing motor to release the microswitches, and it involves cutting and soldering wires... I will have a big effort to get the old deck lid back together if I ever need to... Thanks for the help, Loren!
  11. Hmmmm....... Ok, well, it's better and worse now... From the diagram, it was clear that one of the microswitches had to be closed to allow the 3rd brake light to light up. Problem solved. I depressed the microswitch, and now the third brake light works. And I cut and jumpered the green/yellow and gray/brown wires together for the wing light. But now I have a wing fault as soon as I start the car, i.e. I don't have to drive over 74mph to get the light.... Ugh. I should have just bought the new harness, but now I am sure I am pretty close. Any ideas? I know people are bypassing the light by modifying the existing harness, so it must be possible to have the 3rd brake light working and not have the wing fault...
  12. I put a fixed wing on my 2003 C2 Coupe, and I re-used the existing harness with a splice of the wires for the wing fault light. I also cut the 2 wires to the 3rd brake light on the moveable wing and taped it off. The 3rd brake light on the body of the car is not working. I don't know if it was working before or after the wing change, so I am wondering if I did something that caused it to stop working. If I did it, I will try to fix it myself, otherwise I'll take it to the dealer to have them sort it out under warranty. Does anyone know if the wiring harness for the wing has anything to do with the 3rd brake light on the car? TIA
  13. I live in 100+ degf Houston, and I have never heard it come on during the past 4 months of ownership. And recently I didn't even bother to install the fan when I put the taco wing on. I figured I would get a fan fault light if it wanted to turn on, but it hasn't given me a light yet. I'll probably still put the fan in for completeness, but it seems like it's more for show....
  14. When you have have high oil consuption and no external leaks, it's a good idea to check the plugs. If some of them are crusted with oil deposits, it could be the valve seals...
  15. Loren, what size front rims do you have? How do you feel about the 235/40's being about an inch larger than the 285/30's? Do you think it would be noticeable on your car?
  16. What are you guys running for tires and sizes with these rims??? There's just not a lot of options for tire manufactures with the sizes... So, I just ordered a set of S03's that are 235/40 and 285/30 and I'm starting to have second thoughts that maybe I should go with Yoko's that are 235/40 and 285/35... I am worried that the set I ordered are going to be obviously different with the extra 1" diameter in the front versus the rears. I can always eat the shipping and order the cheaper Yoko's... I have a tip, and it's a daily driver, so I am thinking going with a bigger tire on the back won't be an issue for me because performance is not #1. Comfort and noise are #1. Then wet traction, then tread life, and finally overall dry performance. And 285/30's are about the same amount smaller than 285/35 are bigger than the original 265/35.... The extra side wall in the rear will also give added rim protection... What's your advice?
  17. When this happens, do what I did and find a friend that will lend you his tire/wheels for 30 minutes to find out. In my case, it was the tires and I thought it sounded very much like a bearing. But really, if the noise changes at all over the different road surfaces, it's not a bearing...
  18. I've actually put a set of turbo rears on my 03 C2. No dice. Stick way out.
  19. Turbo rear's will not fit the narrow body. The front will. Consult your owner's manual for all of the offsets you seek.
  20. You would be fine without PSM even in the rain. Not that hp really has anything to do with daily street handling, if you haven't driven a car with 300hp, you will find it is surprisingly little...
  21. Can someone explain why the wheel lock bolt would be so much lower? Is it not the same construction as the other bolts except for the head of the bolt? I do know the worst thing is to have differing torques on the bolts. The uneven pressure on the brake disk hat is what causes warping as the brakes heat up and cool down.
