  1. Perhaps the clutch release bearing. They can "squeal" like that when they are worn.
  2. Had a similar problem when I did mine. I just took a soft mallet and tapped the top of the shifter knob a couple of times, and that cured it for me.
  3. Yep, I did the same thing Loren did. Loosen it WAY up and pry like fiend. Nice meeting you at Boca for the 6speedonline event. Glad you decided to go with the PSE!!
  4. Your suggestions worked great!! Also had to do the rewire of the amp over to the antenna output. Everything powered up fine.
  5. Thanks Guys, just got back into town. Appreciate your help. Will let you know how it goes!!
  6. Recently acquired one of the TrafficPo's. Started trying to do the install and ran into a road block. The antenna installation is the culprit. I have popped off the security cover in the center of the defrosters, but cannot seem to find the avenue for routing the connector and lead. This area seems to be tight as a drum, with no room to get anything down into the dash. Does anyone have any helpful hints? I have read posts that others did not have to take off the defroster covers and A trim as per the Porsche TSB. Frankly, I am at a loss as to how to route this without taking that stuff off. If this is required, what is the easiest way to get the defroster covers off, as they seem to be really in there tight. I am afraid I will snap something. HELP!!!!
  7. For pricing: Carnewal Install from dealership was about $550 + alignment. So far, no real ground clearance issues. Just go slower over transitions. I have had no scrapes, but live in relatively flat Florida!!
  8. Well, back from the track with X74. I could not believe the transformation on the track. The car is flat through the corners, and body roll is a distant memory. The car has migrated from a slight understeer bias to a more normal slight oversteer bias (as 911s should be!). The steering is VERY precise and responsive. You can really move the car around with precise steering input and throttle modulation. I was very surprised at how much faster I was coming out of the corners. Once the rear end has planted, the car seems to really just shoot out of the corners now. The suspension is confidence inspiring on the track. It was like driving a different car. TWO THUMBS UP!!
  9. I believe I read that Bilstein produces the struts in the kit. The remainder of the items (stabilizers, bushings, etc.) .....not sure.
  10. :drive: Well......had the new X74 suspension installed from Gert at Carnewal. This is a beautiful piece of engineering from Porsche. The car handling is greatly improved. The steering is more precise and crisp. Cornering is much flatter. The ride is not significantly harsher than stock. I was very surprised at this. The springs are progressive and really firm up quickly under hard cornering conditions, but remain "comfortable" under normal driving. My wife hasn't really noticed the difference as a passenger. The Porsche mechanic who installed it, said the car handles very much like the new GT3, except for a "heavier" feel due to the extra weight of the C2. The ride height seems to be very similar to GT3 also. The car dropped one inch, pretty consistently all the way around the car (about 1 1/8" in the front, and exactly one 1" in the rear). A vast improvement from the stock ride height. The car just looks that much better. It feels lower than it actually is. I also installed the engine protection plate. Ride height is now pretty consistent at 25 3/8" -25 1/2". I will be taking it to the track in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to feel the difference under those conditions. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
  11. This does not sound normal. I had a '99 2.5 with 43K on it and I had only the smoke at start-up. Occasionally after a hard run on the track, a bit of smoke was also deemed to be the norm. Puffs of smoke under normal driving conditions were not normal to my experience. I would get it checked.
