  1. It has been raining all day. I'll check and get back to you. Thanks Loren, cab
  2. I'm having the same problem. This happened to me about 2 months ago, replaced the fuse and all was well. Go into the car today and the fuse was blown again. Any ideas as to what I should be looking for? I would love to avoid a trip to the mechanic. (edited) fyi - I've got a 1999 996 Coupe. I didn't realize I'd ended up in a boxster forum during the search.
  3. Thanks for the recommendation. I've got 35/42 in them now, but I'll drop the pressure a bit more. I was looking for information on rennlist as well, and it seems the general though is that fast car + big tires = road noise on certain types of roads. Any thoughts?
  4. Hi All, I just replaced my stock turbo twist 18 and tires that were totally shot with some SSR GT3 18" wheels with PS2's. I did notice a drastic reduction in road noise upon switching, but on one particular section of highway (60 miles of it) I now notice a droning hum at speed 70-90 mph. I can't say it wasn't there with the old tires since they were so loud, but this section of highway is almost miserable. Is there something I can do to eliminate this? Any ideas about what to check?
  5. Thanks Orient Express. That did the trick. Once I got them off, the polishing wheels were no match for the funk on them. I resorted to a wire wheel mounted to the drill. It cleaned them up quite nicely and then I followed up with the polishing. cab
  6. My airbag light is on now. The previous owner had the buckels and wires replaced in 05/03. In the TBS is states, "In case of repeated repair: If vehicle has airbag control module, part number 996.618.219.00, replace with airbag control module, part number 996.618.219.02." My VIN is within the range where this is recommended. So if the buckels and wires have been replaced, can I just replace the control module and have the light reset? If so, where is the control module? It's not listed in the steps to complete the TBS. Thanks,
  7. Hey Izzy, I have the polishing kit ready to go so that's not an issue. My problem is in removal. Did your tips have screws holding them on? Mine don't they have 2 spot welds attaching them to the pipe. I'm trying to determine how I should remove and re-attach them. Thanks, Chris
  8. Sorry about that. Yes 1999 996 Carrera Coupe. The tips look to be stock and look exactly like the photos in the diy. Especially the before pictures. Chris
  9. Hi All, I though this would be a great and inexpensive job. Picked up a polishing kit and headed home to get to work. I've run into one problem though. My tips don't bolt to the pipe. They are actually spot welded to the pipe in two spots. Any idea as to what my options are? Thanks in advance, cab
  10. Hi All, 1999 C2 Coupe US I was planning an upgrade of my head unit from the DR-210 to the Alpine CDA-9847 and adding the Alpine KCA-420i iPod cable to connect my Nano. Thought I'd just call Crutchfield and they would ship it all with a connection kit and I'd be done. We'll they have no information on the 996 so I turn to the forum to help me sort this out. Does anyone know what the correct head unit size is for our cars is? I've also discovered through the Apline site that the some of the head units will only require the Alpine KCE-422i iPod cable. The two shown on their site are CDA-9857 (single din) or IVA-W200 (double din). Does anyone know if these will fit. Most likely the 9857, but the w200 would look great if I removed the CD holders. Thanks for any insight, Chris
  11. Hi All, I have 3 small creases in the hood of my '99 996. I'm guessing the previous owner tried to put something into the trunk and forced the hood down. Any advice on this type of repair? They're not horrible, but no one likes to see the light bend on a perfectly cleaned and waxed hood. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
