  1. Despite not having starting problems after refuelling, as the cost of a new purge valve is considerably less than what I imagine the cost of vehicle recovery would be, perhaps that's the route to take. What I can't fathom is why, without tampering with the evap system, you are not seeing a fault code related to that. Could it be that the reader that you have is not giving you the full picture, I wonder?

Shooting in the dark here but might I also suggest that before filling, you go through the motions of filling the vehicle (removing and replacing the petrol cap), then drive 5 miles or so to the petrol station to actually fill it half full. Hopefully this would indicate whether it's something to do with removal of the petrol cap (doubtful) or the result of petrol entering the tank.
  3. Bizarre! So, for the first 30-odd miles of your journey yesterday it was fine? It then acts up to the point of stalling altogether after filling the tank but is fine everyday thereafter? Are you putting it on trickle charge every night?
  4. Has this arisen suddenly or has it been an issue over a period of time? If the latter, had you just replaced something when the overheating started to become an issue? Is the waterpump a Porsche one?
  5. You shouldn't need to be trickle charging a brand new battery unless it's duff out of the box, there's a charging problem or a parasitic drain. It's relatively easy to rule those in or out with a multimeter.
  6. Just one other thought and then I'll shut up about octane ! If the previous owner was running 95 and then 99 is put in by you, I wonder if there's a Porsche-specific fuel adaptation procedure (re-learning process) to be followed or if adaptation is automatic and immediate?
  7. I have read somewhere/sometime that too high an octane can be interpreted as the mixture being too lean. You may want to verify that, and also see whether a 50:50 mix of 99 and 95 gives you a 97. I would hasten to add that I'm not a petroleum engineer by any stretch of the imagination .....
  8. Does your handbook stipulate such a high octane petrol? If not, perhaps you might try a lower octane (95) and see if that remedies the problem.
  9. Whilst I really can't see that the quantity of fuel put in would affect anything, the quality would be a different matter. Too much of a coincidence to me.

  11. Interesting. Knowing how precise the Germans were back in 2002, it couldn't be that they made a mistake on the delivery documentation for my car. See attached. Do you know if they change the code for the same colour for different models/build years?
  12. Not sure if this helps but I have the Boxster Red leather interior on my 2003 Boxster. The Porsche code is ME. That code is found in the paperwork which originally accompanied the car when I took delivery from the factory. IIRC that colour became a more expensive, special order (custom) on the Boxster from 2005.
  13. Actually, I'm an Englishman living in Germany and, with my extremely limited knowledge of technical German, I'd probably end up with 4 cylinders on one bank and 2 on the other :-)

  15. If you check your fuse diagram, I think you'll find that the spoiler and rear trunk are on the same fuse. That would be the first place to look.
  16. Oil pressure is a lot higher than that within the cooling system so, yes, with the engine running, one would expect oil to end up in the coolant expansion tank. You haven't mentioned the model year, but here's something to consider - http://flat6innovations.com/index.php/services/intermixed-oil-and-coolant-repairs Note the comment re the near bullet-proof nature of the head gasket. If it were me, I would demand a full refund and put the troublesome episode down to experience!
  17. Most unfortunate. My Boxster had a yellowy/orange coolant as the original fill. Are you sure that there's oil intermixed? As Hilux has suggested, pull your dipstick and oil filler cap to see if there's any emulsion. Is it correct (my eyesight) that your coolant filler cap part number ends in -04? As I understand that purchase from a dealer gives you certain legal recourse, if it were me, I wouldn't use another garage until you've decided whether or not the seriousness of the problem necessitates the return of the vehicle to the seller.

  19. I don't know how to link to another page but if you do a search for '08 Cayenne S Vapor Lock, it may provide a useful pointer to have checked out i.e. if this occurs when the vehicle is on an incline but not when on the flat with the same amount of fuel in the tank.
  20. For something as critical as a water pump, you should go with the genuine Porsche part.
  21. I'd hazard a guess that it's the polyurethane front lip spoiler. Adds to front-end downforce and handling stability at higher speed. I'm sure your friendly Porsche dealer can give you the part number over the telphone, and a search will reveal a photograph to confirm if it is actually the part that's missing. i guess it's your call as to whether or not to replace.

  23. Champion! As Hilux2400 says, it would be interesting to know for certain where the mysterious wire for manual release is to be found.
  24. I have a 2003 2.7. The spoiler and boot release appear to be on the same fuse - D7 - 15 amp. Have you tried replacing that? If not, perhaps that's the easiest first step.
