  1. Andreas, Welcome. :welcome: :welcome: I think you'll find the conversion expensive. At least of coupla Boxster have been converted, and at least they are unusual for 986s. You'd just have a 996 2002 wannbe .
  2. While I think the CGT is the best road car, it certainly stood on the 959's broad shoulders. I do believe the 901 should be on the list. My favorite, however, remains the 904.
  3. Check the DIY section or try a search. I've seen a DIY for replacing std mirrors with aspherics. Just don't remember where.
  4. Some have mounted first aid kit there. IIRC the German kit fit well, but Suncoast doesn't carry it anymore. Maybe no one does.
  5. Can't help. But... :welcome: :welcome:
  6. The Bentley only covers thru 04. And WELCOME. :welcome: :welcome:
  7. No reason not to IMO. Especially if you'll sleep better. I waited to 5k, and admit to feeling like I should have done it sooner. I'd add the LN Engineering magnetic drain plug and subscribe to his oil testing program for piece of mind.
  8. I mentioned TUV because it is pretty rigorous testing. Non-track cars that are not driven hard can survive on less quality. A reputable supplier probably would only sell a good product. Personally I'd not buy from an unknown eBay seller for fear of getting Chinese-made disintegrators.
  9. Check with sponsor Sunset and/or Suncoast in FL. I know Suncoast has the adaptors to mount the center stack items in different locations. Not sure about the tray.
  10. Just remember that everything you put in the inlet will restrict airflow.
  11. I didn't look at my mats, but one solution I've used before is commercial grade sticky backed velcro from Lowes. To replace the screwed-in fasteners.
  12. Brad, You are forgetting the timing chain tensioners that grenaded many of the 901/911 engines if they failed under heavy load. Both my first -6 and my 70 911 lost timing chains, fortunately not suddenly at high rpm. And then there were the exploding air boxes.
  13. Leatherique. http://www.leatherique.com/products.htm
  14. According to Sunset the non-smoker kit only works with 05 987 and presumably 997.
  15. Old problem from the old 901 engine. Happened to my -6. Pretty sure (as memory does not always serve) mechanic used easy out tool.
  16. Thanks. Mostly I was just wondering why the latest TSB list was so short. Maybe I just hadn't paid any attention before.
  17. I was perusing the latest (I think) 986 tire TSB yesterday trying to develop a strategy for replacement of my out of production Dunlop Sport 9090s whose fronts are going to be 6 years old and ~30k miles in the spring. There are only three tires listed for 18" wheels: Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N4, Bridgestone Potenza S02A N3, and Continental ContiSportContact2 N2. Michelin PS2s are not listed except for 17s. Tire Rack still lists the PS2 N3 and the Pilot Sport Rib N1, as well as the Pirelli P-Zero System N3. Am I missing something like another tire list? Or is the TR site just outdated?
  18. Thanks, Loren. For TSBs and all that you do! :renntech:
  19. They are both reputable, reliable sources with good pricing. I usually price compare. And Suncoast seems to have more sales. Maybe they just notify me of them. Sunset does support this site.
  20. Sorry, I cannot help, but somebody will I'm sure. But glad to have you with us! :welcome: :welcome:
  21. I have added switches to the center stack, but have not moved window switches. It would be easy enough to extend the wiring even if there is not enough in the original wire harness. The switches also will mount neatly in a 2 or 4 holer batwing available for cheap from Suncoast and prob'ly Sunset. There is also a blank batwing for < $7.00 that would be great for any custom stereo controls. I put my radar detector remote in one. With its mute button right by my knee.
