  1. Actually it is pushing the GTS. And stretching the limits of hyperbole by linking it to the 904. But I do like the Cayenne GTS with the 6 speed.
  2. I checked it out after seeing your post. Looks good, but could not determine how to hook it up. The JL Audio site says it wires in as a speaker, and mentions an OEM plug. Do you have to splice into speaker wires? I have the CDR23 w/Bose and CD 6pack. Crutchfields did not know any more than the JL Audio brochure specified. "Local dealer" has not responded, but he is a home systems dealer. Could you post some details please?
  3. Thanks Loren. You musta been sitting there waiting for my call for help. I hadn't even left the site. Where else can you good answers that fast! And you were correct - the keys came out just as if I'd put them in the proper way. I'm gonna paint the handles different colors. :renntech: :renntech: :renntech:
  4. Yesterday I got stoopid and reversed the keys trying to pull the unit out. I know this because the right key wouldn't lock and that's when I noticed it said "Left side up." The left side actually released using the right side key, but I could not remove the key. So I compounded the problem and worked the left key into the right side and successfully removed the radio. So now the question: Will force work to free the keys after I push the radio back in?
  5. Recommend you contact Crutchfield. http://www.crutchfield.com
  6. :welcome: You'll certainly find this forum a lot more focused than 6 Speed. Tell us about yourself and your car.
  7. I miss my 84 black/black 944 to this day. Sold in San Diego in 86 when got orders to Tokyo and could only store one car. But oh the balanced cornering!
  8. I vote for Lloyd's. They list several grades of quality, the worst of which is very good. My OEMs will go back in when I sell it. I like black mats in my sea of Savanna interior,
  9. Good idea blowing the dust out! Here are two 914 sites I frequent. Both have good folks and leads to parts and services. And empathy to cars on :censored: jackstands! http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?PHPS...1694e2d6dc4ed8d http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php And :welcome:

Wow, salt & pepper cars. :renntech: :welcome: :welcome:
  11. :welcome: :welcome:
  12. Yup, absolutely a good investment. :renntech:
  13. Like vfxbox, I also used the Becker cable on the phone line to get switched power for my BEL RX-65. One problem I had was that the Becker plug had two wires reversed. Took me days to figure out the problem. I coulda cut the car's cable, but this is cleaner and reversible. I mounted the RX-65 on the left side of the visor temporarily as a test. I will change that to the center next to the rearview as it does not feel right, and it will get better coverage from the rear. Another lesson I learned was to switch early from the plastic cutter to a small sanding drum to finish the rough RotoZiped opening to get press-fit accuracy. I used a blank batwing (< $7.00) to mount the remote with the mute switch by my right knee. If you've never popped the batwing out, you will be amazed at the gusseting/bracing behind such a small part.
  14. Smart move on Contributing Member status. Glad to have you aboard. :welcome:
  15. :welcome: :welcome: Sounds like you'll be able to contribute a whole lotta experience!
  16. The only whistle I've had was from a burned cylinder head in my 911 that warped from the air leak. It was after a repair and the shop ate the cost of a new cylinder and head. Not cheap when almost nobody carried 90mm pistons/cylinder - even in San Diego. Recommended getting it checked as soon as you can.
  17. Let me add another Welcome :welcome: Tell us about yourself!
  18. There is also sticky backed Velcro. It is strong enuf to hold my flags to the poles in high winds. Should work on carpet/mats.
  19. Not certain I understand either. But the info is in the TSBs. You need to be a contributing member. Which I believe is well worth the cost of admission. :renntech:
  20. :welcome: :welcome: Hi back atcha! Tell us about yourself.
  21. Hadn't thought about that, but I agree. No Boxster experience on 91. But Mrs Sixter's new X5 got 1-2 mpg less on 91 during Thanksgiving trip to NorCal. It also lost power that was especially noticeable going uphill. The transmission downshifted as many as two gears on hills that it held in 6th gear on 93.
  22. I be disappointed with less than 25-26 mpg in that driving mode. But nothing is dramatically off. Clean air filter? Plugs? MAF sensor? Still , I would not worry. Some claim lower numbers.
  23. :welcome: Sorry no help but glad to have you with us.
  24. Laser or LIDAR detectors usually go off about the time the nice officer is getting ready to ignite his blue lite special. They usually aim the very narrow beam at the flattest surface, which is often a front license plate. So low mounting might help for light. LIDAR jamming is not regulated by FCC and most states do not have laws against it. If there were a lot of lasers in use around here, I'd seriously consider it.
