  1. I agree. It is beautiful. I'd get a basic commuter car and keep your Porsche. You might have to face some expensive maintenance if that kind cost factor is part of the equation. Or maybe it'll stay reliable for 25 or more years with loving care. After 130k miles you and the car know each other pretty well!
  2. Rennsport Reunion will air on SPEED December 16th @ 4:00 PM. Speed Schedule: http://www.speedtv.com/schedule/index.php?...&usecal=yes
  3. Mine is fine, but you could start here: http://www.beckerautosound.com/ Or the old Becker Board: http://members4.boardhost.com/beckerboard/
  4. Ejection seat is too funny! :clapping: I couldn't think what to put in the 2nd hole. That woulda been great - even on a blank.
  5. I don't get putting blanks in. For future use? I just bought new plain batwing with no holes from Suncoast for less that $7.00. Drilled hole to fit my RX-65 radar detector remote. Kept Boxster S script version to be able to return to original some day. The batwing has more gussets and reinforcements on the backside than a battleship!
  6. Interesting to look at the bidness case: http://www.businessweek.com/globalbiz/cont...gn_id=rss_autos
  7. Yup. You can even readout the codes with PIWIS. Dealer showed me mine and it was always the lid not closed tight..

  9. Pull the clock out first (it is just pushed into the dash) to get access to back of speedo to unhook the connections. Can't remember when the speedos went elctronic. If yours is mechanical you can fix it yourself. I nevver got a guage trim ring off cleanly, but it really doesn't show when pushed back into the rubber gasket. North Hollywood has always done good work for me. Palo Alto has been recommended by others. Let me know if you need their addresses.
  10. There was short piece inside on page 19. Kinda easy to overlook with the McLaren picture on same page.
  11. I just got new Performance Products catalog, and they are advertising an aftermarket system (from Hella I think) for <$300. Realize this would not display in instrument cluster, but the readout module looked like it might go in the glovebox when not in use. Tire Rack has also advertised one for some time, but this one looked better. I will consider it next tire replacement.
  12. This is a duplicate of the post above? yes? Loren et al, Sorry I screwed up the original posting when I tried to edit the update. The original was a video. After I screwed the pooch I could not figure out how to delete it.
  13. Panamera sighting in US. http://www.autospies.com/news/Will-This-Ne...s-Parade-21162/
  14. Sounds like this is a new condition? I'd check the evaporative control system for proper venting. If you are not tightening the cap properly or the cap is faulty the vent could be the problem. Altho you'd expect a CEL, I think. Good luck with the shipping.
  15. I have the Lloyds trunk mats in my Box. Stefan is right about the :censored: smell and the edges which also lack the lip I wanted. I would have bought WeatherTech mats (worked well in Mrs Sixter's Jeep GC), but they weren't available for Box trunks. http://www.weathertech.com/store/product.aspx?ItemGroupId=3
  16. I had the same thought as Ben regarding the swithces. I even found a site offering an interface kit to play the Motorola BlueTooth (HF1000, I think) thru the Porsche sound system. Decided it was way too hard to justify for my limited amount of car phone use. BUT...would likely buy it if a smart guy put together a kit with (or for) Porsche switches for a reasonable price.
  17. Update to racing V8 story: http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...p;rssfeed=rss02
  18. Congratulations and Welcome. Hope PPI goes well. Enjoy the car!
  19. You and Nick are right to worry about fit. If the top has been improperly stored or mishandled it can be "warped" or slightly misshaped.
  20. AutoWeek: "A Porsche V8 will power a Daytona Prototype for the first time later this month--but don't expect to see the Stuttgart manufacturer's famous badge on the engine's cam covers." http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...p;rssfeed=rss01
  21. Ya gotta love it! http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...-1/newsletter01 Danica 2d in IRL twin bill.
  22. Hmmmmm. http://www.leftlanenews.com/reports-porsch...w-takeover.html
  23. I don't mean to be insulting, but if you are not an experienced Porsche guy make sure you get help from an expert with a PPI. There are a lot of potentially verrry expensive pitfalls. Excellence magazine does an excellent job reporting used car sales/values. Bruce Anderson does the reporting, and his great advice is to "buy the best car you can afford." There is also a book on buying used 911s whose title/author (maybe Bruce) escape me right now. Someone on this board will have it handy. Good luck! Enjoy the hunt, but do your research carefully.
  24. It is the last of three cars in the vid. http://www.autospies.com/news/Will-This-Ne...s-Parade-21162/
