  1. Welcome! What are you trying to fix? Polarized sunglasses if reflection is problem. UV protective shield if problem is potential damage to dash. Got mine from Automotion.
  2. I use P21S wheel cleaner and their car wax. The gel cleaner worked no better than the regular for my not very dirty wheels. The gel was better on our old Grand Cherokee with really dirty wheels.

  5. :welcome::welcome::welcome: There is a really good piece on this IMS subject in the latest issue of Excellence magazine. With Part 2 coming next. Later 986 were better, sometime in MY05 (IIRC) they got even better. Newest design said to be best, but not replaceable w/o teardown of engine. Buy the mag! You'll thank me.
  6. I checked them out several years ago and found nothing but problems. Including post-mortem teardowns that found old, worn-out parts and and shoddy mechanic-ery.
  7. I have had my screw on for two years with no problems. Comes with install tool and machine work is exquisite. :thumbup: I use the Napa filter at Charles' advice also. He said it flows best. Also get the magnetic drain plug.

  9. Jake Raby has a video DIY either on his flat6innovations site and/or youtube for the 160 deg thermostat from LNE or Jake. Complete assembly so you do not need special tool.

  13. I change mine and the filter at about 5-6k miles and make no short trips.
  14. It is called corner balancing and it is of great benefit for track cars. It isn't for alignment so much as setting the suspension to balance left/rt weights.
  15. You can use white shoe polish as an indication of how far the tire is rolling over. My opinion is that 7 psi is too much pressure differential and it is specified to keep inexperienced Porsche drivers from getting into trouble. I think 4 psi difference is about right for spirited driving by a competent driver..
  16. :welcome::welcome::welcome: There is a pin you can bend down (#17 ???) to disable. It has been covered multiple times, try search. I'd try unseating and re-seating the relay, it is large double sized above your left foot in a US car. Maybe some connector cleaner.
  17. No aux in, but there are complicated ways discussed on this forum. Manual is also available to Contributing Members. removal tools are available from Becker or Suncoast, prolly Sunset for about $6. But no cheap aux in fix. Sorry.
  18. I'd say power steering if came from rt side too. CV would be from rear unless you have C4. CV doesn't squeal in my experience, more of a vibration when accelerating from a turn. So brakes are good place to start. Make sure left caliper torqued correctly first.
  19. I vote for stock. That said I'm about to buy a black Boxster S from Eric the Plug Guy with a stock titanium (silver) version as back-up so a future owner can go back to stock.
  20. I would consider the following items as a good start. Just my opinion if I bought it. I am sure some experts here will have other thoughts, so take it for what it is worth. Batteries cause all sorts of crazy issues, and if you are not going to drive it regularly you absolutely need a battery maintainer (get the kind that cycles on and off). I would get a fresh battery to start and would consider changing/checking the following just due to time more than mileage: Change oil/filter 0W/40 Synthetic Change Serpentine Belt (sitting a lot for 6 years...may dry out) Change air filter and cabin/pollen filter Flush Brake fluid completely and replace with new (should occur every two years) Check tires for dry rot/cracking before you get any high speeds Run some injector cleaner and a full tank of premium gas through it (drive it) From there an overall thorough inspection and just watch for any odd behaviors and you should be golden....And a good thorough washing and cleaning will usually uncover lots of otherwise missed potential issues/damage/etc. That should be a good start anyway..... DC Agree except I'd go 5W-40. And tires also die after about six years. Also plugs should prolly be changed. And battery maintainer is good rec for any car not driven daily.

  22. I just turn on my fogs on a two lane road. Simple and easy!
  23. I do not remember when the G50 trans replaced the 915, but you need to search that. There were also issues with 2.7 exploding airboxes and head bolts that failed. You need to know which year did what. Mostly you need complete maintenance records and meticulous care. Few people can afford to fix up and older 911.
  24. Always check TireRack and Discount Tire online as baseline for pricing. My Porsche serving dealer matches TireRack prices w/o the shipping cost, but with sales tax (7.75) in NC. The service writer assumed correctly that I had TR prices in my hip pocket. 4 Day Tire still there in Socal? They were great in my Socal days. I even tried to get franchise.
