  1. I'd talk to a professional car detailer who is equipped with the proper tools to fix the problem. Wouldn't suggest doing it yourself. BTW, I am not referring to your local auto wash detailer either.
  2. Have an 08C2S and am considering adding an OEM sport exhaust ( don't what aftermarket as I want the on/off feature). I contacted Sunset Porsche but their price for the complete setup isn't that much less than my local dealer and I don't have to pay shipping then to LA. Any suggestions on where else to get the lowest price or look? I did find the used mufflers for around $1000 and all the components from Sunset Porsche for around $450. Appreciate thoughts... Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the honest opinion Hank. Wasn't parts and install in the neighborhood of $500+? (if you don't mind my asking).
  4. Before making this modification, have you asked your Porsche dealership about this issue and whether or not it is normal. You still have warranty coverage so I'd go to them first. FWIW...
  5. Not sure about the spray on type but the adhesive type (3M being most common) is almost invisible when done by a professional and, can be removed if you choose to do so. I have the adhesive type on my 08C2S and it really saves the day. However I did not put the film on the hood as I don't like the "line". FWIW...
  6. Thanks Philipj. I am ordering the Fister units at $265.00 for the pair and am picking them up next week while visiting my daughter in Berkeley. Will install when I get back. Also just a note about Darwin at FD Motorsports and he said to just send him my originals when I am done, no core charge required. Now that's a trusting guy, not too many out there like that...
  7. Thanks Philipj. I did a search and Googled FD Motorsports. Definitely much less than the PSE system with like results. I'd like to go that route but don't want the Fister mod to drowned out my passenger conversations either. What's your opinion on that happening? Tony
  8. Interesting! Laws must be different in USA vs Canada. Glad you got your issue resolved.
  9. Nice advise philipj. I too was thinking of an exhaust upgrade for my 08C2S but thought that was a nice amount of money to invest for more noise. I still have a CPO so the K & N intake wouldn't hurt warranty you think? Tony
  10. 229golfer, Not sure if the dealer in Canada will do that. I believe here in the USA it cannot be done because of it is a safety item that was built into the car by the factory. I once tried to have my BMW units disabled and this is what the dealer told me. FWIW.
  11. One more question on the monitors and does anyone have any experience with how long the units might last on average? Are they like the car battery and possibly last for five years if lucky? Thx
  12. Loufian, You didn't mention what year car you were buying. That being said, if it is a pre-owned car and still has factory warranty or a CPO, be careful because if something goes wrong, you could void the warranty or CPO warranty. I was looking at an 08 C4S before buying my 08 C2S and the C4S didn't have a CPO and when I asked the dealer why not he said it was because the PO added aftermarket bluetooth to it. Chances are that there will not be an issue as many people have done this but just beware, that's all. Good luck with your new find.
  13. Thanks JFP. I recall seeing someone suggest Sunset Porsche for these units at about $110.00+ each or so. I just wasn't sure if batteries could be changed but now I know.
  14. I will be needing new tires in a few months and was wondering if the monitors on each rim have batteries that can be replaced or do you have to replace the whole unit if and when it malfunctions? Thanks in advance.
  15. Have an 08C2S and was wondering if anyone has installed subject and, pros and cons in doing so. Thanks in advance. Tony
  16. Alberta, Did you get the short shifter installed? Couple of questions. Did the dealer install for you? What was the cost overall? Thx Tony
  17. Henrik68 I purchased a new "S" script from the dealer for about $13.00 and then bought a can of spray paint (ruby red), painted the "S" and attached it. Before removing the silver "S", i carefully outlined the placement of it on the lid with blue masking tape so that when I put the red one on, it would be in the exact same place. I removed the existing one with dental floss. Hopefully this picture of mine came thru OK.
  18. Could some elaborate a little on the P17 Sports Suspension that Ale_72 mentions in the list of options his car came with please? I tried a search but nothing related came up. Thanks....
  19. Are you hesitant to make the long drive to the Porsche dealership because the car is out of warranty? How about an independent service shop in your area? Just a thought....
  20. On 90 degee days here in so. California I have heard mine come on if stuck in freeway traffic (08C2S). I have also heard it come on shortly after pulling into the garage and shutting off the engine. I do not however hear it come on very often. Tony
  21. When I mentioned my on board compressor and tire sealant, this is a factory installed item in the bulkhead of the front trunk area. My car is an 08. Were these not installed on all 997's since you have no spare tire
  22. My 08 C2S has an on board compressor and tire sealant for "small" problems (in the front trunk area). After that (in the U.S.) I have premium AAA coverage that'll get you a free tow for a lot of miles. Beyond that, make sure your tires are in good shape with plenty of tread depth and especially watch the rear tires on the inside due to a slightly negative camber. Tony
