  1. As far as I can see you do not have navigation, the DVD player should be mounted vertically next to the box you have highlighted which is the amplifier box for the audio system. If I could paste a picture here I would but I cannot find how the h*ll to do it!
  2. You caused the faults by removing the fuses read STB_SC_2_3_07_Battery_Care.pdf which is available on here, to re-set things. Then get on and inspect the motor flap for re-circ which seems to be your original issue. Good luck!
  3. OK thanks for that, makes sense when I think about it! Guess it is No 1 Coil and plug check time then? No CEL though, but I can definitely feel "something is not right", the idle is a bit lumpy too. Do I assume if it was bad fuel then it would bring up issues on all cylinders? Annoying really as plugs and coils are not 1000miles old yet, not long since I replaced them.
  4. Please see the attached files. Can somebody please make sense of them for me? How can I have a misfire on cylinder 1 but the count be zero??misfire-report.docxmisfire.docx
  5. Richard is right, there may be keys but on my 2005 997- S I removed the Nav DVD quite easily by just twisting the metal clips off the mounting and it went back just the same! It will be apparent when you look at it. Just do not bend the fibre optic cables too much, and if you are going to run the car with it not fitted, to save hassle get a joiner for the optical cables to link the DVD out. The communication ring is broken otherwise, though I am unsure what the system will do if it is just " not there" !
  6. I for one, looked at the Evans products and decided to replace the coolant with genuine Porsche antifreeze and distilled water. The Evans product appeared just too much hassle and was going to cost me over £1000 GBP which I decided was not viable, especially if I need to drop the coolant to replace a water pump or something else. Porsche antifreeze (enough for nearly 2 changes £160 and distilled water 50 litres for £25) seemed the best way to go. The only thing I did do was to go low temperature thermostat and add the third radiator too. (6 speed manual so one not fitted as stock)
  7. Welcome to the world of rubbish oil level measuring! Try not to get paranoid over it, trust me it is easy to do! I fill to one segment below full when cold, then when hot it reads full. Works for me, other may disagree. Remember it only reads the last couple of litres anyway, 400 cc's per division if I recall and at 410cc's it will illuminate the next segment so make your own mind up.
  8. I bought one of these from e-bay at £5.47 ($8.61 in US dollars) :- LASER TOOLS 3117 OIL FILTER WRENCH CUP TYPE 76MM X 14FLUTES and it does the job nicely.
  9. Well, I have just tried mine, a UK 2005 model and mine does not. Only with the key. I am happy to be corrected but shouldn't a 2003 car be a 996?
  10. No. Quote from your users manual :- Comfort function when unlocking the vehicle Unlock car with the remote control. Hold car key in door lock in the unlocking direction until the windows have reached the desired position.
  11. As said earlier Carrera 4 are 4 wheel drive Carrera 2 are rear wheel drive, standard ( in 997 gen1) is 3.6L, S version is 3.8L whether it is a 4 or a 2. It could be a genuine mistake just ticking the wrong boxes in the ad form but if actually written by the seller, walk away, if they don't know what it is, how on earth can you trust that they know if it has any faults? ( either noted in the advert or not!) if it is their personal car and they are selling it as a C4 but it is in fact only rear wheel drive then they are liars, again, walk away!
  12. Did you try reversing the connections (internally if fitted with 'coded' plugs) LED's are polarity conscious? You may well have done but didn't say so.
  13. Did mine a while back, not too much of a hassle. Unbolt driveshafts and remove the splined shafts outwards being careful not to catch the splines on anything. I gather they are very prone to chipping if knocked. My car is a C2S so not sure if you need the same seals or not but mine were 997.332.803.01 and 997.332.804.01 @ £10:53 each, if of help? 14. Circumference in inches 79.95 front stock 82.22 rear stock 84.63 front yours 80.93 rear yours You do the math! ABS, Traction, Speedo issues…………
  15. No certainty on IMS, I asked the selling dealer to check the IMS for me when I bought the car and was assured it was dry. Not had cause to remove the gearbox/flywheel so don't know for certain but by engine number I think it should be the earlier one. I haven't at present, crosses fingers, got a tell tale oil deposit on the floor, though I gather sometimes there is no warning.
  16. I think you may be confusing level with pressure. In the UK we have oil pressure gauges in "bar" which is approx 14.5 PSI, it was the oil pressure I referred to. Normal running is approx 3.5 bar or 195.8 PSI ! Thank you for at least responding, I was beginning to think everyone had gone home :D , but it is obviously NOT a common event to happen. Not happened since so putting it down to duff fuel until proved otherwise.
  17. For the wipers, try cleaning the sensor area really well. This sometime helps 'over enthusiastic' wipers!
  18. As the illumination is by LED's then the dimming is not variable DC but by pulse width modulation. This is varying the amount of time the LED's are illuminated by flashing them too fast for our eyes to see the "flashes" this reduces the average time they are on hence the effect of dimming them. I assume the headunit you refer to is non OE? If so then it will not work unless it has been designed to work with 'dimmed' LED circuits.
  19. 2005 997S 3.8 Couple of days ago I was driving to work as normal, all dash indications normal and up to operating temperature. The whole car 'hiccoughed' the engine just appeared to stop dead for half a second and then resumed as normal. No lights came on not even a rpm drop that I saw, nothing out of the ordinary. Connected durametric, no fault codes stored at all. Monitored cam deviation angles v rpm throughout the range from idle to 6000 rpm, all good. The only thing I did before the journey was to top up the oil by 0.4 L bringing the level up to 3 bars rather than 2 bars full. This has happened just the once so far, but it is concerning me. The only thing that I saw that was unusual was that when I turned it off the oil pressure gauge stayed reading 1 bar. Turned ignition on and off and it dropped to zero. Anyone got any idea what might have happened?
  20. I think a worn pressure plate could possibly make that noise if a finger was broken. JFP I am sure could confirm or deny.
  21. Sounds like brake pads moving in the calipers. I have had this in the past. Are the dampers still attached to the pads? Other thought is that it might be the handbrake shoes inside the rear discs? Loose lining or one has become detached?
  22. You're correct JFP but problems seem to occur with the USB interface, especially with live monitoring. Personally I do as Stutzchris says and have an old windows laptop with it on. It is only used for this purpose and also has office on it so I can print information off and do a graph on a monthly basis of the camshaft deviation figures. Paranoid...............who me?
