  1. Thanks, plan on replacing the drive belt, while in the AC
  2. The JB welding of a 5 mm hex socket didn't hold, Had foot surgery so will have to wait the car is in my A/C garage with carpets and seats out and being dried. Will try to use a easy out in the al hub to open the clam shell so I can remove to ECU and send it and the alarm CPU to ECU doctors for repair. the need the ECU and Key to reset the immobilizer. Is there a hidden cable to open the engine bay cover like the trunk lid has?
  3. Got the alarm CPU in rice right now, will check the drains. First I have to get the top into the service position to remove the ECU to send it with the alarm CPU to Specialized ECU repair if the rice don't work. I tried to Manually move the top, The clam shell drive 5 mm drive was stripped, Will JB weld a 5 mm drive socket into it today. Question can I supply 12 volts to the top control line to engage the electric top control? with out damaging any thing else.
  4. 996 C4 my2001 cab Had very heavy rain, didn't drive the car, but left it in the driveway. Had the alarm go off three tiime overnight got up reset it .after checking out if it was a real alarm, appeared to be lighting and thunder .Next morning all the windows were open and a couple of inches of water inside. windows waouldn't go up, seats wouldn't move, so pushed it into the gargage removed the alarm cpu and in process of tying to dry it out. what would cause the window to go down?
  5. Living in Houston TX, we get street flooding, What is the max level of water should I except to traverse. unlike those autos that have air input low on the car. The C4 intake is high on the rear cover. I know that the Alarm CPU is under the drivers seat so no water should enter the cockpit.
  6. I had a no start problem, I jumped the start relay "placed a jumper wire across it" starter ran but still no start, tracked it down with multi-meter, found the Immobilizer not working, sent the unit under the drivers seat to be repaired. problem solved
  7. does any one have the flow chart for the top operation
  8. I used Dr. Vinyl they had a store front in Houston www.drvinyl.com
  9. When replacing the rear window regulator I moved the top manually. Now the top will not operate normally, and the top not latched warning lamp is on. The dealer wanted $450 to re-calibrate the top. Question; Can the Durametic re-set/re-calibrate the top? Also can the Durametic set the key "fob" to open the hood "trunk" and allow the horn to alert on fob locking. Thanks for the help.
  10. I was at the track for the testing before the 24 hour race, The Audi factory crew placed all four wheels on scales and balanced the shocks for the weight for that track.
  11. Good job, glad you got the ant and amp power worked out.
  12. Thanks for all the help, Now on to replace the external AOS, glad for AC in the garage.
  13. I have a 2001 C4, serial number 654451 that is showing signs of AOS problems, my Bentley manual only shows two internal separators, All the write-ups show a single external unit. What is correct?
  14. The voltage is +12 you will also need to supply it to the antenna amp also unless you have replaced it with a non amplified antenna.
  15. I'm new to Porsche repair but from what I read, you are correct cly 1 is on the left side (drivers in US) and the one closes to the rear of the car. If I'm wrong please jump in.
  16. the problem with DIY and high toque numbers is we forget the whole foot pounds thing, a 3.4 foot long wrench needs 100 pounds of pull. a 100 foot long wrench would need 3.4 pounds of pull. so do the math. I use a fish scale to pull the wrench to the required poundage.
  17. none of the above labeled ones, they are on the very bottom the first two left of center.
  18. They have this same part on the rear speaker mounting. It a screw receptacle, check Pelican parts for it.
  19. Changed oil took a 1.2K mile road trip after a year stop and go driving in Houston, TX. I noticed that moisture was being cooked out on the drive by looking at the filer cap and tube, two days of non-stop 75 mile an hour, 69 MPH average and 26 MPG per the on board computer. A lot of light rain en-route, had a ball driving, will do it again next week heading back home, may make a side run to KY. Just for the twisty roads, and stop at my brother's.
  20. Had the same problem left window down, I had to replace the alarm module under the drivers seat. I contacted the ECU Doctor via internet and then sent my alarm cpu, ecu and key to them they replaced the alarm cpu matched it to the ECU and Key fob and sent it back. problem solved. I raised it higher off the floor, put desiccant bags around it.
  21. Ditto, Installing mine did a test and bingo, all's well, now decide if to send the wire to the console or find an other wire ala under the driver's seat will let all know if I do.
  22. had the same problem, replaced it with a Kenwood unit. Missing the Porsche data but nav, blue tooth, back up video and radio works now.
