  1. Hi Chirag, I am with you. Email Sent. I need a better price. It is ridiculous to pay $1400 for rotors. I was even considering downgrading to regular Turbo brakes. Thanks for your leadership on this. David
  2. I just did this service... One thing that I figured out is to have a good spark plug socket, especially on Cylinder #4. It is hard to get to, even with everything out of the way. Newport Porsche charges $1100 to change all plugs and coils... I understand why.... What a pain in the butt on a Turbo S.
  3. This is what I think I am running into for one part number (955 624 773 02 and 995 624 773 01, fuel door actuator). Part number ending in 02 is for 2006 and up and the one ending in 01 is for 2005 and under. I don't know what came originally in the car because it was already replaced with the one ending in 02 and I again replaced it with the same. The electricals all tested fine to the actuator but the 02 part number doesn't function fine. It locks fine but when I unlock it, it slight retracts back towards to lock motion thus, keeping the fuel door locked slightly. This can definately happen. Keep in mind that all cars are built from a bill of materials (BOM). Porsche's customization approach takes it even farther, in tha each car has its own BOM, which can be highly customized. A fellow automotive engineer and Cayenne owner tipped me off to this. The Wiring harness for his car was completely customized, which is unusual and more likely to happen in lower volume vehicles. Higher volume vehicles (Ford, Chevy, etc) are likely to have the same parts stamped and aligned by year. Where as the Cayenne is a relatively low volume car next to a Camry, so you might find parts carry over more often. They key to YOUR car is your VIN decode and your BOM.
  4. I have had the "JOY" of releasing parts for a car... Here is how it works... in Layman terms: The VIN number is the key to the production year, however it is not unreasonable for parts that have not changed from prior produciton years to be installed in a late model car. Usually, the first year number stand as "The Part", until a change in design, materials, assembly, construction occur. Some manufacturers mark parts with production dates to support recalls and warranty, however, not every part in every car is addressed this way. Hopefully this helps!
  5. Hi, I have seen this as well. Just not sure if I wanted to be "First". I actually work on software for OEM head units for my profession, so I have some insight to this. Issues will be: -Audio: Line level outputs: If you have BOSE, like I do. NAV-TV HUR unit would allow you to keep it. -Cluster: Info for current song, station etc. Lost. -HMI (User Interface)... Looks rather Game(Ish) oriented. Many asian products use a particular tool set that yields the type of UI that this shows on Amazon. Somewhat cheezy, but functional. -Variations of this unit are available on eBay. -Your mileage may vary on warranty... What if it breaks is a real problem... I am somewhat torn myself: Am sort of thinking about rolling my own...But, this is still attractive...
  6. @ALEV8, Not sure how you got to $20K for Phone, but I am considering the use of $250 Dension or NAVTV basic unit with functions controlled by phone and steering wheel. I put a $500 unit into my SL55 and really did not like the user interface. It was clunky and difficult. I ended up reverting to the basic mode, which is the equivalent of the entry level system from NavTV or Dension. I am guessing most of your 20K would come from upgrading the speakers, amplifiers etc... In my opinion, not worth it. The Bose system is good enough..(Not the best). Have it in both cars.. I actually work with Infotainment systems for cars for OEM's everyday, I have access to the parts to roll my own unit, but really don't want to give up the cluster integration.... If I get time to decode the CAN Bus messeges to the Cluster for compatiblity, I might make a move... Overall, I think that the CTT and CTTS cars are an incredible value for enthusiast... Fast, powerful, sized perfectly for 4, comfortable to ride and drive, incredible flexilbility. David
  7. I recently purchased an 06, 70K Miles. It is to be my daily driver (Short Commute)... I am very happy with it. My other car is a Mercedes Supercharged SL55, so I am pretty accustomed to 500+HP... I have a short commute, so gas is not a problem... I have seen 18 MPG on the highway @75mph... Seems to be the sweet spot for the Gearbox. I doubt very much that you will notice the extra 20hp on a daily basis... But on the other hand, a 23K CTTS with CPO is a deal. Consider that this car sold new for 120 to 130K... There are some body style changes, but they are really small and hard to tell at a distance unless you are an enthusiast... I have the Black/Sand Biege interior. Warning... It gets Dirty fast!, but so far seems to clean up pretty good. I already budgeted for a new set of floor mats... I believe that all CTTS came with full leather interior which is nice. Every one loves the look and smell.. Have 4 Zone climatronic, backup camera... PCM 2.1 with phone... (Boo, hiss). Adding a Tow Package and iPod interface, then I am done... My car seems to like to drink OIL by the quart monthly...(Slight exaggeration).. But I have changed it and also put 1.5 Qt in over 3 months of ownership.. Have not had coolant pipes done yet, but considering it. I checked everything out, no leaks or issues anywhere... Good luck!
  8. I am contemplating same thing. I found a 2009 rear hatch with all of the required parts. I am guessing that the body controller will need to be upgradded to 2009 for it to work for my 2006 TTS... Anyone have any experience with this?
