  1. I had the same sound. I replaced the shock mounts. The bushing was toast on the drivers side and near complete failure on the passenger side.
  2. I had an annoying squeak start front drivers side when turning the steering wheel to the left. This squeak was shortly followed by a squeak developing over bump. I read the forums and tried the suggestions of grease this and that ... check this and that. ... until I finally bit the bullet and pulled the shock out and found the Camber Plate/Shock Mount bushing was shot. Easy DIY if you have the tools. After going to the dealership to find they do not stock Camber Plate/Shock Mounts for MY2001 C4 which amazes me since it crosses multiple years of 911's. But I digress ... After lifting car remove front carriage tray Remove wheels Disconnect sway bar both sides Remove brake caliper from side/sides you are working on and tie off Disconnect CV Joint from side/sides you are working on Loosen Camber Plate/Shock Mount and let drop slowly Swing strut out Remove strut bolt and slide strut out Use spring clamps to compress spring and impact wrench to remove shock nut Pull Camber Plate/Shock Mount Separate from bearing ( good time to clean and re-grease bearing) Re- assemble in reverse order ... Just under 3 hours cuz it was my first time ... More fun than an oil change!!!
  3. My experience is the dealer has to have the car and key to program the key to the specific car. There will be an additional fee for that service.
  4. LOL ...The girls thing is actually the reverse, the band got the cast offs!!! ... I was referring to Domiac's resourcefulness and ingenuity to make a tool ... Next he will be using duct tape and cans to make IMS ... ;) And yes I was ... :)
  5. FYI .... Ran the Durametric again a couple of days ago just to observe and here are the numbers ... after driving .... car was at operating temps ... RPM 770 BANK 1 BANK 2 FRA 1.0 1.01 RKAT -1.80 -2.10 MAF 17-18 kg/h Still a little rich???
  6. (fingers crossed) The CEL has not returned. I removed the evap canister and cleaned the contacts and the valve itself. Also, I gave the MAF a thorough cleaning as well. I have put in 10 days of driving since my last post and about 1500-2000 km no codes. Thanks to all for you input and wisdom ...
  7. I must clarify the "after market exhaust. I purchase this car back in January. The muffles were what came on the vehicle. The cats appear stock but the mufflers are not. They look like a fab speed clone ... there is no branding on the mufflers.
  8. Thanks ... I will read this later ... May have to go to my shop ....
  9. No the AC was not on ... all accessories off ... the is the normal idle I have had ...
  10. there was no gromet there for the part ... it appears to not have been there. I installed it where is is supposed to go ... RPM steady 770 Temp 84c (engine As for the numbers: Bank #1 #2 RKAT -1.78 -2.39 FRA .97 .98
  11. I went into the engine compartment and was digging around and found this little plug attached to nothing ... Part number 028 0130 092 ... what is is and where should it go? http://www.chrisstutzcustomphoto.com/Mystery%20Part
  12. Okay ... guess the smoke test it is ... is the a progression of where to start smoke test?
  13. I have been able to put some k's in this week. After 800 km of driving the CEL returned with the P1130 code. This is the only code. I pulled the MAF and cleaned it very well. It seems odd the code bounces back and forth from 1 bank to the other. The O2 sensor code is gone. Now I have a new set of Pre Cat O2 sensors as well. Should I replace those as well? Could the pre cat sensors be aging and causing this? I understand the P1128 & P1130 codes are "air leaks" but would they not be consistent to one bank or the other or both? The car runs fine ... Did 400 km trip the fuel consumption was amazing even running 130 kph average.
  14. Thanks Loren ... I was directed to that and found the source of the leak. The post MAF clamp was loose. I tightened it down. Those codes related to the leak are gone. I was answering george996's question.
  15. Since tightening the clamp these two codes have not returned. P1128 PORSCHE 360-oxygen sensor adaptation idle range bank 1 P1130 PORSCHE 361-oxygen sensor adaptation idle range bank 2 I was getting a CEL every 150 to 175 km for the O2 Sensors after that ... I replaces both sensors since i was removing the rear bumper to gain easy access to the downstream sensors. My logic is if one is going then the other can't be far behind. I assume they have not been replaced before. Unfortunately, the spring type warm up we had has left us now and I have not taken the car out since changing the sensors over. I will update when I have driven it a few hundred km.
  16. Replaced both down stream O2 Sensors ... Those codes are gone ... MAF is reading properly at 1.25 and 17kg/hr the other codes have not returned since replacing o2 Sensors ...
  17. I have noticed since replacing .... Smoother shifts and less shaking at low rpm and low speeds through community streets when the transmission goes into 5th gear ...( 50-60kph)
  18. I think it went before I purchased the vehicle. I have replaced the coils, plugs, brake & rotors, brake fluid, PSM control module, water pump, primary fuel pump, Cardin shaft, tires, lights & air filters ... Finally got to this item. All in the past 9 months.
  19. Replaced the Engine Torque Damper in MY2004 Cayenne. And then pulled the wheel liner on that side an fixed the stupid headlight washer leak. Fun times!!!
  20. I did some exploring around the the Air intake piping and found the post MAF clamp was very loose. I tightened that down. The clamp at the throttle body was fine. I have driven twice since clearing the codes and no CEL yet. I ordered an 02 Sensor to replace the aging post cat sensor Will monitor and update.
  21. Okay Here are the numbers/values Oil Temp 82C & Engine Temp 88.5C Idle 780 ish MAF=1.40 (values change as revs increase) Bank 1 RKAT=4.22 FRA =0.99% Bank 2 RKAT=4.50 FRA =0.99%
