  1. Hmmm....messed up! Do these spoilers have micro switches?
  2. I don't think its getting worse, just that you are starting to see the spots better. I believe you will only see the spots in certain lighting & angles. Now you know what to look for, you are seeing areas affected that you didn't see before. I could be wrong. And it could really be new spots showing up. I doubt it though. If that's the case then I don't know what you can do.
  3. 9mm in arm rest. LOL after replacing the micro switch in my door handle, my panels wouldn't stay on either. The clips got bent somehow and wouldn't hold anymore. I ended up buying new clips from the dealer and installed those. Took my time putting it back in and haven't had any issues since.
  4. Sounds like a failing voltage regulator on the alternator. Had the same symptoms on my 996.
  5. You can you thank the cilajet for that depth ness and shine in your paint. Those products are good and do what they ate advertised to do. Just too much was applied in some areas. Get those areas fixed and enjoy the shine. Note that with these products, you don't need to wax the car. Most of these ceramic products are supposed to last the life of the paint. I'm not familiar with cilajet so read the product description.

  7. I've read that the alternators will fail a load test with a bad regulator ( why mine was ok, I dunno). Takes 2 minutes to remove it once the alt is out and its $50 vs $500. If I was you, I'd try the regulator 1st.
  8. Has the car ever been coated with those ceramic clear coats like optimum opti coat? Those look exactly like high spots in the clear coat, too much product was applied. you will need to find a detailer that deals with those products, If its high spots, they can be buffed out.
  9. just so you know, the load test they did on my alternator showed everything was fine, yet I still went and bought the part from pelican. $70 vs $500 (cost of oem alt) - no brainer to me. the alternator is super easy to get out. took me ( who never worked on a porsche) about an hour to get it out following the how to's on pelican. swapped the regulator out, 're installed and havent had any issues since.
  10. thats what im thinking too but when mine went, I didnt have any of those symptoms though. my car just wouldnt start after 2, 3 short trips. my voltage at idle would start at the 13.8 mark and slowly go down. after 10min of idling, it would be at 13.4 and still falling. here is a side by side of the voltage regulator: the picture doesnt really shown it but the new one had significantly more of the brushes than the old one.

I would lean towards the level of grip the new tires are providing over the old ones before laying blame on the wear/circumference of the tire. thats what I chalked it up to anyways as I could feel the fronts loosing traction way before the rears did. I just live with it. I've read that the tires wear from the inside on the 996's. my tires are wearing out very evenly though and I havent expereinced this kind of wear but have seen it on others 911's.
  13. experienced the same thing at calabogie motorsports after switching my rears for Michelin pss's.
  14. Thought I'd bump this. The battery draining issue was actually a bad voltage regulator. After installing a new battery and that one only lasting about 3 start ups, it was pretty obvious I had a bigger problem. I google'd the issue I was having ( slow discharge on idle, battery starts at 13.7 volts when idling, and then slowly drops as you let it idle. After 10 minutes, I was down to the 13.3 volts range with just idling, no load or anything on it....and still going down. While driving, the car would go down as low as 12 volts after 20 minutes of driving) Using pelican parts how to's - Took me a whopping 45 minutes to pull the alternator out. While I was there, i removed the TB and intake plenum to get access to check the ground there...Took that, and the main engine ground off and cleaned them up. they already looked pretty clean though.... Took out the alternator and removed the voltage regulator, when comparing to the new unit, you could see the OEM unit had significant wear. The brushes were down to about half of what the new unit had. My theory is that when then engine got hot,the brushes were making very little contact and wouldnt keep the charge going. Installed the new one, re-installed everything, and started her up, stayed at 14 volts the entire time. Now I can drive the car without carrying a spare battery in the frunk. lol
  15. bump... one thing I noticed with this car is after a good spirited drive or a very short one, the car will spew out blue smoke when you start it up the next time around. it eventually goes away, faster if you just drive off immidiately. and it doesnt do it all the time either... the aos was replaced last month by the previous owner. ive read that its normal to do as long as it goes away, I see lots of topics about this very issue it but theres a LOT of blue smoke on start up sometimes. my mechanic (who is a subaru guy) seemed pretty concerned when he started it and moved it on his hoist. I did beat her good on the way to his shop. lol thoughts?
  16. 6 & 8 or 6 & 10? 8 looks to be the washer between the flanges. thanks again. ill contact my porsche dealer and give them the vin....at least I now know what lines they are.

  19. from that pic, it looks to be the 2 lines running along the very bottom of the picture behind the pelicanparts.com writing.
  20. of course, but you know how it works....when you really need to take a pic with your phone....its dead.
  21. are you sure? the brake lines and clutch lines look to be on the drivers side, those look great. these are thicker lines, maybe 1/2 " lines. never seen clutch and brake lines that thick.   22. hello! new guy here from ottawa, ontario, canada. bought a 02 C4S a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loving it. some things need to be fixed on it like front cv boots, new rear tires, amd some other minor things... one thing I noticed when it was on my buddies hoist is the metal lines travelling underneath the passenger side had some kinks in it. looks like a diy jacking gone wrong to me. anyways, what are those lines? coolant lines? heater core lines? I would like to replace the section that is kinked but having a hard time figuring out what they are for.
