  1. I had ceramic coated FabSpeed bypass pipes on my 993 Turbo. The coating was excellent. I expect the same results on my 991 exhaust tips. They look great. How long did you run them for? I had a 993 TT but got into a tight financial situation and had to sell it :-( Boy, was that a great car. I ran the coated tips on my 993 Turbo for over a year and over 10,000 miles. I bought my Turbo for low $60's....drove it 40,000 miles, and sold it for low $90's. Hence, why I can afford a new $150K 991. LOL! :)
  2. I had ceramic coated FabSpeed bypass pipes on my 993 Turbo. The coating was excellent. I expect the same results on my 991 exhaust tips.
  3. I use Zaino Z10 on all leather items. Non leather (plastic, rubber and vinyl and tires), I use 303. Great results for both.
  4. Sent mine out to get ceramic coated. No polishing. No soot from the 9A1 DFI engine.
  5. That's a riot White. I am doing exactly the same thing. I got the Black letters from suncoastparts.com. I also got a "PORSCHE" windshield decal and the white LED side marker lights. But, I don't get the car until May :-( So, HOWS THE CAR?? I bet it sucks! (A LOT OF AIR THAT IS). Got it broken in yet?? (only takes about 10,000 miles). Car is G R E A T !!! I've done about 1,300 miles. Just got an oil change done yesterday. 5W40 Joe Gibbs DT40. Factory fill sample was sent to Blackstone. Should have results next week. Then another easy (below 4,200 RPM's) for another 700 miles, and then I plan to shift near redline every time out. LOL!!:) Thank you Dr. Porsche. I sent my exhaust tips out for smooth black ceramic coating. Cost was about $275 total. Works great with the white car and black PORSCHE badge. I used CCP Coatings in Detroit. Grear results. About 1 week turnaround. Curt helped me at 313-369-2447. And now I don't have to obsess about the black soot from the DFI engine!! LOL!!:)
  6. That's a very fair price. Mobil 5W40???? Which one? The only 5W40 I know of in Mobil is Turbo Diesel. Actually a very good oil, and recommended by several knowledgeable engine builders. If you decide to do the coolant (smart) might want to go full boat, and also do the water pump, serpt. belt, and thermostat at the same time.
  7. Dario, change your oil yearly, at the minimum. Regardless of LOW miles. I'd recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles with a quality full synthetic. I'd also recommend 5W40 Joe Gibbs DT 40 or Mobil 5W50. Do Blackstone oil analysis. When was your new car's last oil change? If you don't know for sure, do it now, and "zero" out that interval.
  8. Thanks! Do you have a picture? Not yet. Too busy driving it. I also sent out the exhaust tips to be ceramic coated in smooth flat black.
  9. Yes, you can do this yourself. Start small. Search on Rennlist, too. Guys have done whole interiors, and color changes.
  10. That's fine. Personal preference. I just picked up my brand new, custom ordered 2014 991S Cabriolet with PowerKit 2 weeks ago. I ordered it model designation delete. It still comes from the factory with the "PORSCHE" badge. At the dealership, I had that removed, and replaced wit the flat black "PORSCHE" from the GT3's. Whatever floats your boat. Enjoy! :)
  11. Dario, that's why I sent you there. Her products, knowledge, generosity, and Porsche skill level are all excellent.
  12. Nothing is "happening". Normal. Your car consumed about 300ml of oil in 3,000. Very-very normal, and low.
  13. One of the oils I see recommended all the time on Rennlist for the 996 Turbo is Mobil 5W40 Turbo Diesel.
  14. Untrue. (Fischer) Very true!! (Motor Werks, Porsche dealership) Rick Fischer (and his father, Peter) are still in business. They moved a few years ago to a new location near NW Highway and Cuba Road, by Kelsey's Roadhouse. He has serviced my 993 Turbo and 987 Boster S for many years. We are very lucky to have an indy shop of his calibre in our back yard. He'll service my 2014 991S in a few years when it is out of warranty. His phone number is 847-304-8822. Not only do Rick and his father run an excellent shop, they are very generous to our PCA Region, and excellent racers in our Porsche Club Racing. You will be in great hands. I hate Motor Werks. Their Service Advisor, Chauncey is a complete doofus. Keep in mind, Fischer's and Moter Werk's labor rate, per hour, may not be that much different, Fischer only charges for the actual work done, while MW charges a "book rate" regardless of the time consumed.
  15. There is ethanol in all gas, all the time, not just winter months. But, I agree with you, ethanol yeilds lower MPG's, for sure. I have an enthanol test kit for fuels. When I was testing my gas, I saw ranges from 4% ethanol to 9% all year long. No real rhyme or reason.
  16. I use the Chevron/Techron product before every oil change in all my Porsches.
  17. What was done at the major service 6 months ago? Plugs? Do you ever use Chevron Fuel System Cleaner with Techron? May want to run a couple tanks worth. Dirty injectors? When did you last get gas? Did the problem start after that? Maybe bad fuel? Keep topping up your tank with fresh fuel, see if it improves.
  18. Put more air in your tires. This is eating your gas as the temps drop. Figure 1 PSI change per 10 degrees of temp change (assuming dry air).
  19. That Motul is on the Porsche approved list, too. Very good oil.
  20. Your manual is outdated. Use a Porsche approved oil. There are hundreds on the list. Mobil 0W40 is one of them. Another good one is Mobil 5W50. Joe Gidds DT40 5W40 is a very good oil. Not on the list.
