  1. Billyc, you should always have a Pre Purchase Inspection done prior to buying a Porsche, IMHO. I hope your warranty company does you right, and that you are back on the roads soon!
  2. 500, what do you clean your windows with? What kind of rag?
  3. GOB, one way to evaluate your situation is what cost more/less....a monthly car payment....or monthly repair & maintenance bills?
  4. I agree with the others too. Don't store the car with the suspension un-loaded. In our owners manual, Porsche does NOT recommend storing the car on jack stands. Per the owners manual, over inflate the tires to 58-60 PSI. I do this to the tire pressures, plus I park on dense rubber pads (like you would see in a health club weight room). You can buy these rubber tiles at places like Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. At the 1st of each month I roll the car, by hand, about 10 inches. I did not have any flat spots on my 19" Michelin PS2's last winter storage.
  5. Pk2 it is up from 295 HP to now 303 for the RS.
  6. Wow, you just saved over $11,000!!! That's gotta feel good. Go buy your car a tank of racing fuel and you wife some flowers.
  7. Hi Doug, isn't Delvac (Mobil) 15W40 only for diesel engines? Thanks! http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS..._1300_Super.asp
  8. Binaryc, possibly consider an engine swap. The updated info regarding oil now states 0W40 synthetic. Mobil 1 is also recommended, as some other brands are too.
  9. Binaryc, like Loren said, get a 2nd opinion. Try an Indy shop too. You should be using a 0w40 oil in the future, just an FYI.
  10. Binaryc, oouuch! How many miles on your Boxster? What was you oil change interval?
  11. Bob, just remember to measure twice and cut once! Your car will sound awesome with the PSE. So, no need to do either of the above!
  12. Bob, why distilled water? Are you sure you added it to the right place?
  13. Berty987, I agree with a lot of what you stated. FYI, the PSE on the 987 is in fact switchable.
  14. Bob, read this oil analysis here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...hl=oil+analysis His "iron" was 23 while yours is 27.
  15. Secuuda, the batteries are being sold by www.sunsetporsche.com. They have a few in CF.
  16. CJ, of the 119K miles, how many have been on the RP?
  17. OK, you can buy a "Porsche" batter maintainer for about $55 and a generic one for about $25. Big whip, I can "save" $30! Is saving a potential 30 bucks worth the risk of damaging an electric component on my $67K dollar car. Not worth it to me. I can $30 elsewhere in my family budget. And sleep better at night doing it. IMHO. For me it is just a matter of risk management. I would also be the last guy who would want to overspend $30. I consider myself pretty frugal.
  18. I don't see the 2004 550 SE's selling at a premium price in the aftermarket. Nor do I expect to see the current Orange Boxsters sell for a price premium in the near aftermarket future.
