  1. I am missing the shift knob insert to my Boxster S 6 speed and cannot find a replacement anywhere without having to buy a whole new shifter... Does anyone have one they would like to donate or sale? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to get one. Its just the insert that fits on top of the shifter Reverse through 6th... Or does anyone have any ideas on how to make one? I am at a loss and it looks raty without the insert..... Thanks in Advance!
  2. Hello everyone. It's been a while. Found threads on replacing the shifter cable. Thanks to all for that. The cable is new, but now I see that the point where the female end of the cable attaches to, the male end that is on the lever that is on the transmission, is shot to pieces as well. Anyone know how to replace this male end, and the part and number needed? BTW, this is a 2002 996 C4S Coupe. Thanks in advance!
  3. Request a good part number for the two shifter cables that go from the shifter itself, back to the transmission. I believe they are black and green colored. It is a 2002 Boxster S.
  4. Hello All, My 04 S has recently started doing some wired stuff between the shifter, dash display, the tip tronic controls on the steering wheel and shifter +/-. The strangeness started 6 months or so ago when it would occasionally go into Manual mode. A quick flip of the shifter into M and back into D fixed it. Most recently, it has decided that it prefers M over D. Flipping the shifter back and forth rarely fixes it now. Other things to note: (observations) most of the time, the LED indicator on the shifter only shows it in +/- regardless of position. The dash shows the correct position except for D. some of the time, the LED indicator shows nothing. The dash is correct except for D. most of the time, using the shifter +/- to change gears does not work. Have to use steering wheel controls. some of the time the steering wheel controls will not downshift. (REAL annoying!!) they always upshift. The problem seems to be worst in the mornings when cold and better once everything get warmed up. Looking thru the forum, I'm torn between the transmission control unit or the micro switches/magnets around the shifter. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Trey Cooper
  5. I have a 2011 911S with a shifter that vibrates, trailing throttle in 6th between 2200 RPM and up, irratically, and only when well warmed up. The dealer readjusted the shift cables which cured it for about 800 miles. The car has 7000 miles since new. It will go away when I shift from 6th back to 5th and back to 6th. It also will buzz in 3rd under throttle. it can be felt but less noticably through the rest of the car as well. It seems that the stick shift takes the brunt of it. Thanks!
